  • This video explains the concepts of variation, deviation, and compass error. Using examples, this video also explains how to calculate the values. The concepts of true bearing, magnetic bearing, and compass bearing are also explained.

    I understood this example sir. That compass error was wast because it lies in the wast of true but if compass bearing is 358 and true is 359 then the error will be 1E by rule of thumb but conceptually it should be W because compass is lie in wast of true.
    This is my doubt sir plz clear it

    Hello sir im a bit confused about the arrow where variation or deviation lies. Why is the arrow pointing to east but labeled west and same goes for the arrow pointing west why is it labeled east hope you responde

    sir I have a question, is it always the direction from true towards compass for CE?
    True towards magnetic for variation?
    and Magnetic towards compass for deviation?

      For compass error, you have to see where the compass lies with respect to the true (east or west). Is that what you mean? Then, yes:)

    Gyoro course==250*
    Standard compass course=255*
    Observed object bearing by gyoro=90*
    True bearing of ofject=91*
    Variation=3W

      No, you cannot have negative values of C, D, or M as they are bearings.

      I'm thingking for about a couple of hours because for me we can't use 20E then the t is 8 how can i suppose to answer the m
