What we need : - Battery with easily removable individual cells - Motors that can be oiled / greased WITHOUT taking things apart ( shitty tiny screws will never fasten the same after being removed / re-tightened ) - Proper water resistance on battery AND motor controller ( diablo series might have accomplished this ? ) - Effort put into vibration reduction : Rubber / bushing material between contact point of trucks and deck, rubber / bushing between contact points of motor mounts, battery mount, motor controller mounts. Also foam grip tape ? - Charger that allows users to select fast or slow charge, and target cut off ( 40% storage charge, 80%, 90%, 100% cut off options ) - Remote that gives us all features WITHOUT NEEDING A PHONE APP ( -_- !!!!!!!!!!!!!! ) - Dedicated on / off button on the remote for lights - Dedicated button on remote for electronic bell ( not a horn, is rude ) - Wheel bearing protectors ( no reason to have them fully exposed ) - Protective sleeve for phaze remote
I’ll add a couple. Customisation of the remote display. I couldn’t care less what speed it says I’m going, I know what is fast for me I don’t need a figure for it, I’d rather be able to see the battery percentage without needing to pull out my reading glasses. And what about a brake that can actually lock it up when at standstill waiting for traffic lights to change. And I’d also like to be able to disable the board via remote to be able to put the remote into a pocket and go into some shops.
It’s good to have a voice of reason when it comes to Evolve - 👏 Fred I always call Evolve the Apple of esk8 - beautiful, well made, not cheap & totally proprietary. Know what you’re getting into & enjoy it for what it is- a great ride! You didn’t say much about it, but the biggie that separates Evolve from from lesser eskates to me is RIDE FEEL. They don’t call them “super carve” trucks for nothing! Aren’t they the truck that all 2 in 1 boards have imitated ever since??
The hater squads came out in droves. 😂 I owned so many boards in the last 10 years. All the big namebrand’s. People keep saying all these bad things about Evolve, but I’ve owned seven of their boards and only had one motor ever fail, never had a controller lose connection. Never had a bored snap in half. Never had an ESC give out and always had good customer service experience with them. So I take everything I see online with the grain of salt because it isn’t my experience . A lot of these other companies I bought boards from went out of business .
The thing people need to remember is we're in a bubble of eskate enthusiasts. Evolve isn't marketing to us - they're marketing to casual eskaters who buy their board from a store like JB Hi Fi - and they're good at what they do. They make a consumer friendly product, that works out of the box without needing to feel like you're half-way making a DiY and has solid after sales support. They don't need to sell a board with an enormous battery because their consumers are not asking for that. They don't need to sell a board that has insane top speeds, for the same reason (as well as legal issues effecting their sales or other potential legal issues stemming from injury). So when everyone hates on them for having smaller batteries or lower top speed, etc. they need to remember - Evolve was never selling to you in the first place. What I am interested to see is - will these *replace* the current Hadean models or will they simply be a much higher cost? Obviously they can't have both on the market at the same time, near the same price, or no one is buying the older model, so is this the end of the current models?
@@jamescalkins6069 yeah - honestly, I am glad. I think if they kept the Hadean around, it would mean the Diablo would have to cost way more than it should, and they would start to wind up with too many offerings. The Hadean is getting on - this is the right choice.
Then I guess they won't sell. A lot of evolve users are hold overs from boosted board days. I think evolves days are numbered, but then again their insanely high margins might keep them going.
When I lost my drivers license, I bought gtx and gt, did over 1000kms on both with only a bearing change or 2, never had a remote malfunction and rode it in the pouring rain.
Obviously stretch every dollar. The Diablo looks very nicely marketed but at the moment I'm satisfied with what I've got. Great messages Fred, I hope people listen to it all.
Bought the Diablo bamboo 2in1 for daily commute (in the dry) - about 20km a day on easy city streets and maybe a park or two! It’s going to be sick!! I plan to stick mainly to 108mm dad bod street set up- but the ability to convert is mental. I usually push a loaded tan tien and I am an old guy- so no pushing and brakes is going to be revolutionary!! But I’m never getting anywhere near 55km/hr ! (Unless I’m putting on my full Motorcycle gear maybe)
That's all well and good, but Propel boards are not known for randomly disconnecting from the remote in the middle of a ride or for using generic Chinese battery cells.
I love my Toyota corolla! No bells and whistles, doesn't beep all the time,I drive to where I want ...thats what a car is for right?reliable transport?.I have a how old GTX evolve still love it,I don't exspensive board with no comebacks if things go wrong,I've seen most on the market these days and I'm really not interested in what's on offer to be honest,I'm a skater not a tech geek.
I dont hate it, i just think it’s going to be overpriced compared to the competition. That being said the phase remote is my favorite in the game. Ive got two older GTR carbons that I bought both used 2 years ago and Ive put 1000 miles each board. One board was mint condition and i paid like 800. Lately ive been really digging on my street wheel set up GTR 97Mm classic. Im 165 lbs and those little motors move me right along. Gets good street wheel range in a lightweight package. I live in bay area Cali there's used evolve boards here all day long. I also have an Acedeck and a Lacroix just to mention my credentials lol.

I used to shit on evolve when I had my lycaon trx 2.0, then I rode the hadean and never said another bad word about them In fact I plan on getting a diablo carbon and giving my carbon hadean to my son. Evolve is an incredible company with incredible products and amazing customer service they make you feel like family
Evolve has grown to have a negative reputation for a reason. Only to new riders, evolve seems as it is the "creme de la creme" I only see Hadean Bamboo decks snapping left and right these days. Dont forget, they were originally charging 3K for the Hadean Carbon AT it its initial release, How could anyone respect that? Evolve tries to move around like Apple, pretending to re-invent the wheel with every release while still using 2020 specs, it’s actually pretty impressive.

It's twitchy off the line then has no follow up power, like a burst current then nothing. Unless you mash the trigger it feels slow to me after the initial not so smooth kick.

@@ian9toesI prefer a smooth initial response in the first second or so then it pulls hard (0-50kph in 3-3.5 seconds still), a jerky motion and no pull follow up kinda sucks. Obviously people that rave on about how strong the acceleration is are used to pulling the trigger all the way in and aren’t noticing the difference with the initial jerky motion as much but between 25-30kph it falls off heaps and that’s where most of your riding takes place and why I like my custom builds that keep strong mid-range power as well as take off albeit a split second slower than whatever throttle curve adjustments Evolve uses. Low speed acceleration predictability remains nice and smooth though still responsive too, much safer like where you’re having that issue and one of two things that really bugged me about the hadean.
Did they say 200A ESC output!!? That's a lot of power... I mean they will have to limit to 180A for the batteries but even 180A is heaps.
