Feels like a guy who was hot property a few seasons ago albeit he was shafted by the club selling all their best players. Should atleast stabilize the club but can't see them in the play offs

Completely agree. It's just whether the owners/sporting director changes as soon as there's a poor run again or wants too much too soon. I don't think any Head Coach since has been an upgrade on Mowbray! 😂

If you’re going to be fair you also need to take into account all of his best players leaving the second year without real replenishment. You have contradicted your argument there, but agree a lot of questions need to be answered

His record would have been much better but seeing as the board sold off his best players without any consultation behind his back. ( Sounds familiar by past regimes ) Support Regis Le Bris 100,% Sunderland till I die ❤

Good video. Interesting take on SAFC. Much appreciated, mate.
Personally, I am just happy we finally have a manager installed! It has taken far, far too long. I only hope (bar potential relegation) the board won't be as keen to go through the search again too soon!
Expectations? Realistically Top 10, perhaps Top 8 at best. Play offs - a bonus but depends largely on the strength of the teams finishing in the top ten in general and those who finish in the other three play off positions - should we make it.
Leeds are probably favourites for automatics with either Luton or Burnley. Sheff Utd for the play offs, unless they fall away badly. West Brom, Hull, Norwich and Boro are next most likely, possibly Coventry and for a wild card - Portsmouth could be in the potential play-off mix, certainly the best of the promoted teams. That said, I don't see any of the promoted sides replicating Ipswich's incredible back to back promotions.
If Sunderland's most recent seasons in second flight been reversed, then 16th and 6th seems like progress, however, the reality of how it actually happened suggests we definitely over achieved first season back. We could perhaps have got another top six finish under Mowbray - obviously somewhat academic from this distance. Though Tony's health would have impacted the latter few games.
While I was pleased to see the Beale mis-step seemingly quickly rectified, it is incredible just how long the full-time replacement of (excellent coach but frankly not a great manager) Mike Dodds actually took.
To be fair to Dodds he was tactically excellent against Leeds and West Brom on both occasions we played both teams.
I wish the new man all the luck in the world. Knowing our rather fickle fanbase. He'll need it!!
Thanks again for a nice bit of analysis. All the best to Luton (except at the SoL of course! ;-))

You mention some very good points. Whilst Beale was always going to be a mistake, we have to be fair and say it was quickly acknowledged and addressed. I do still worry about the board expectations. In my opinion, you don't currently have a top 6 side on paper. If he's judged on that, as Mowbray seemingly was, it could be an impossible job for him! It's going to be an interesting season for sure. 👍

I don't know much a about him so will obviously give him a chance. My worry is the board and what they will want him to like for example if they want him him to get us in play offs give him the players that will help him do that . Not a 18/19 year old kid that not ready now but might be good in the future if u get what i mean.

That's fair. I don't think you have a top 6 squad on paper, at present. It'll be interesting to see what the expectations are. 👍

I can't say I'd be thrilled to have him at my club, but he'll look a genius in a year if this gamble works out! 😂
