    You have me sold! I've been doing house plant sales online for a while, but I know I can do a small backyard grow for the plants like you have there for outdoor gardening. Plus my own gardens get lots of compliments each year. Hopefully I can put it all together and be telling you about how well I am doing with it SOON! ~Angie from Maine

    I started thinking of doing this but on a much smaller scale because one, I'm new and only have about 3 years of experience even trying to put a seed into the soil to grow food and draw pollinators with herbs and flowers of all different kinds. Two, I'm drawn to this and love it so it doesn't feel as much like work even when I'm dirty and burning up! As you know, with some plants it takes several years of dedication to even begin to see the results of what you were dreaming about from the start! Now I have Asparagus, Echinacea, Blueberries, strawberries, Rosemary, Thyme, Borage, Lavender, Chamomile, Oregano, and just germinated heirloom tomatoes and other things too! I'm so excited that it's spring and time to grow! I'm a new subscriber from SW VA and I'm here to learn. I'd LOVE to sell plants on fb!

    • @savvydirtfarmer
      @savvydirtfarmer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      3 years of experience is about 3 more than you need to get started with a nursery. NONE required. It's a learn as you go kind of thing, an, you can do it!

    Thanks for making such a great video! Just to get an idea of profit per plant, how much does your average plant that sells for $9 cost you? (from the time you acquire it, grow it , until you sell it) And what’s your average “hold time” on your plants?

    • @savvydirtfarmer
      @savvydirtfarmer  ปีที่แล้ว

      I really don't know. Typically, I don't think of "hold time" at all. Why? Because there's a near year round cycle of propagating, growing, and selling. Always (nearly) something to sell, grow or propagate. While I don't want any 5 year growing projects, most plants take 2 years start to finish. Some take 3. Currently, I'm working on growing more larger plants (3 gal) for wholesale, but that's a whole other thing. Some plants, I buy ready to retail and only hold them for days... but there's not much money to be made there. As long as I have my "propagate-grow-sell" cycle in place, which does take time, I've always got the next crop of ready plants coming ready to sell.

    • @JCarm-o60
      @JCarm-o60 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@savvydirtfarmer thanks you so much answering about the average “hold time”. Guess I was looking at this venture thru my background in real estate 😂. What are you typical profits-per-plant? (Say… on the small $9 plants?) Are bigger plants worth the longer investment in time?
