I agree with Huda Beauty, and Im glad they will be re-branding. I think their newest products, the creamy palettes and the glosses, have a very over-used look and feel of what is very on trend with the bubbly type. It’s everywhere!
Tbf Trixie has said before that the whole brand is basically kid’s makeup for adults, and the packaging and theming of most collections definitely reflect it. Kim Chi Chic is a lot more all over the place and tends to land more in that Claire’s makeup level of kitschy, at least for me
I don’t mind the cutesy playful aesthetic, I just wish the packaging didn’t feel as cheap as I’ve experienced it. Cause the products aren’t cheap! And totally agree that Kim Chi’s brand is very all over the place. Got two palettes from them but decluttered both.
love these videos!! it's so fun to see someone get analytical about an aspect of makeup other than the products themselves, because it of course factors into the way people perceive & experience these brands. if merit's not already on the list, I'd love to see them added! same with kosas, which i've at least heard hannah louise poston mention as being more luxurious-feeling products in cheaper-feeling packaging.
The weirdest thing about the BBB pallets is that they don't telegraph what the inside of the palette is. Their pastel palette has dark-silver on the outside and their mattes pallet has holographic rainbows on the outside. And the contrast doesn't feel on purpose!
I love colourpop’s designs, mostly very maximalist but it’s their thing and 9/10 they do it well. I think the packaging design pulls a lot of weight in how much excitement the non-licensed launches have.
I know for sure so many people only bought the Twilight launch cause they WANTED that packaging (I was so close to buying the palette for the same reason...)
Since Merit came out with their og lipsticks, I cannot stop thinking they look like Maybelline lipsticks 😂 I honestly feel like Rare Beauty has more memorable packaging than Merit, and Selena has commented in videos when initially launched that they're for dexterity because of her lupus
I feel like when KimChi first launched their brand I felt like I know what they were or wanted to be (bright, colorful and cute) but as time has gone on I have no idea and I feel like it's just blah...
Thank you for doing these thought - provoking videos! I appreciate that you are doing something different and not the same old thing every other Beauty TH-camr is doing!❤😊 looking forward to more in this series.
Im already extremely jealous at :10. I have a couple of those green duochrome shades like on your lids, but due to deep set, hooded eyes in a bony, shadowed face, behind strong glasses....my duochromes don't get the light needed, and it looks brown on me. I have discovered a bright shade underneath can force the lighter shift, but there's not that cool movement on the lids
i want to want to buy from trixie but totally agree with u - something is just cheap and off with the packaging. would love to see them elevate their aesthetic in the future.
I work at a miseum with 4.0 FTE total. We have a simple style guide & branding strategy. It seems financially irresponsible for a for-profit beauty brand to skip that step. Hopefully they reassess their team, if even I know that's essential, I'm shocked they would have Marketing leadership willing to skip that step.
trixie! i feel like i'm over-paying for Colourpop. i would LOVE elevated kitsch-luxury. i'm gonna watch your other videos on this series but i wonder if you did KimChi Beauty?
Love this series!
Thank you SO much! It makes my day to hear that!
Love this series so so much - please keep it going !
Thank you! That's the plan 💗

I literally JUST saw Made by Mitchell put out something with the bubbly type too!
This continues to be one of my favourite series!
Aww thank you so much!

Thank you so much for watching and I’m thrilled to hear it resonated 🧡 And yes! Both brands are on the list for future installments 😀

That’s funny you’re right!

I agree & hi 👋. I'm one of your subscribers!
I know for sure so many people only bought the Twilight launch cause they WANTED that packaging (I was so close to buying the palette for the same reason...)
I really enjoy hearing your thoughts on this topic. I’m curious as to what Huda will become. Also. Bellabeaute Bar should hire you for design!!
From your mouth to BBB's ears...

I want to throw Kim Chi Chic Beauty in the ring as well because they have the same issue as Trixie Cosmetics lol
I feel like when KimChi first launched their brand I felt like I know what they were or wanted to be (bright, colorful and cute) but as time has gone on I have no idea and I feel like it's just blah...
Kim Chi Chic is a mess ngl, their makeup looks like stuff you’d get from the dollar store

This made my day

That's a really great tip!
This is perfect timing as Im making boring user manual illustrations currently 🤣
PERFECT! lol

I feel like eventually there will be a Trixie launch that hooks me somehow

A little bb design strat deck would be SO HELPFUL for so many indie beauty brands! I know every major beauty brand has one for sure.
trixie! i feel like i'm over-paying for Colourpop. i would LOVE elevated kitsch-luxury. i'm gonna watch your other videos on this series but i wonder if you did KimChi Beauty?
I haven't done KimChi Beauty YET, but it's on the list for a future installment!
Also qualifying Trixie as overpaying for Colourpop is ACCURATE
Is Rituel de Fille on your list love?
They are!
