I completed this game yesterday at the doctor's office, of all places, and already had over 100 star coins I randomly collected throughout the game. I went on and completed World 7 after that, accidentally reaching the castle through 7-5's secret exit instead of 7-6's, but I had beaten all eight worlds anyway. I figured, "I already have a ton of star coins, so why not get them all?" That's exactly what I have been doing, and I have done worlds 1-3 already. This game is where its at, not all this 3D world multiplayer reused crap, when I play with my friends I want to bash them with my mega mushrooms or penguin suits, not "Wooork together".
I was very astonished when I unlocked this world for the first time lol and also if you were successfully able to unlock world 4 there was really no need to beat the boss in world 5 as mini mario since you could just unlock the cannon in this map and that would have launched you straight to world 7

Always thought this was a fair game, and I'm thankful it revived 2D Mario, but it lacks an awesome power-up: There's no leaf, no cape feather, no propeller hat, no flying squirrel acorn. Sure the mini and mega mushrooms are cool, but they're just novelties. And the turtle shell is really more gimmicky than useful--far too unreliable to control in a game full of death pits. Mario is at his best when he has a cool flying item or floating item, and this game missed the mark there. New SMB is the only game other than the orginal NES SMB where the fire flower is the most desired item. That's an issue.

Epic Manky I was simply naming power-ups from other Mario games in every era. I wasn't suggesting that this game have those specific power-ups--that would be stupid. In true Mario form, only the mushroom, fire flower, and star should be used within every game. This game lacked its own original power-up to define its gameplay--those other power-ups are examples from the other games which made them great. The cape feather was the identity of Super Mario World, the flying squirrel nut was the identity of New SMB U. And so on. This particular game needed something like that.

How do you take the tourtles shell once you jump on them? what buttons or joysticks do you use?..... another question when you have the tourtle suit how do you do to make mario slide that long... again which buttons do you press?
+Andre Robles Once you step on a turtle walk away from him and then run at him while holding Y. Keep holding Y as you run into him and it will pick him up. As for the turtle suit I think you just need to run to full speed and then tap the down button once. He will then just keep sliding while hidden in the shell. You shouldn't need to keep holding down I don't believe.
If World 4-1 has regular Dorrie (blue sky and clouds in the distance of the forest), World 4-6 has, introducing...KING Dorrie, so the forest background in this level is dark trees and dark sky without clouds.
This world is so frustrating especially the castle because there’s too many platforms with anchors on them and there’s coins that are really ridiculous amounts of reach

Like Super Mario Bros (1985) Awesome! So basically New Super Mario Bros DS is much more better than the Wii with those Koopa Kid suckers. Those Koopa Kids are too retro 1990's and too unreal to be brought back. I like DS because they have natural bosses. I wish Glooper Blooper was the World 3 boss instead of that Giant Piranha.
