Too wide and that increases the size of the hips and pelvis, adding extra weaknesses to that area. Larger canal also requires larger muscles, which means larger tendons and attachment points. Even if the biomechanics made it possible (which they do not), there have simply not been anything close to enough Generations since the inception of modern medicine for it to have made a blind bit of difference. Until modern medicine approximately one in three women died in child birth, and that's been pretty much the case for our entire history as a species. It is one of the prices we pay for sapience.
