I tend to agree with the statement that the original seems "better" or at least equally deserving of a studio recording, though I appreciate Kristine Leschper's artistry enough to respect what she was trying to accomplish with this version. I have the same experience with her recent recording of Stairwell Song on The Opening or Closing of a Door. I appreciate what she is doing, making Stairwell Song fit into the style of her new album and reworking it with the new sensibility she is exploring in 2022, but for me the live version of stairwell song from years ago is one of the most beautiful songs and, indeed, the most beautiful vocal performances I have ever heard and I cannot say that the very interesting studio recording quite lives up to those heights. I don't think it is necessarily disrespectful to Leschper's intentions as an artist to say this. Indeed it was affirming to hear that this was also someone else's experience. On the other hand, knowing how much work someone of Leschper's caliber puts into this stuff, I also want to try to appreciate her reworking and give it as much credit as possible

Goodness, I seem to be quite late to the party. I'm sorry the remixing disappointed some folks. Me? Never heard the original and I think this is pretty great. Much better than any song I've ever made, so...Thanks and excellent work.

Don't compare this to the original pls, it's just different than the original, I kinda prefer the original but this one inspired me too in a lot of stuff as well with the original.
I think both of them are amazing
The original deserved a studio version tho.
