Oct 1948. born in a hospital close to old railway station the Milton st baths were across the road, but can’t recognise this layout, i remember every Saturday going from Shrvenham council houses shopping Mum n dad in regent st, commercial rd, remember dancing n roller skating at Locarno, going to The College getting my city n guilds papers in motor mechanics, going to both cinemas regent/gaumont was it?, hanging out with mates, getting stopped by cops at least twice any night n getting us out of my ford van ‘passion wagon’ making out they were writing down our names n addresses life was great we didn’t worry cops were cool we were good jokers, everybody seems like everyone hates the cops now, looking at TH-cam stuff guys auditing police stations pathetic time wasters. England is still a beautiful country but human nature tends to love being negative 👎 sad bastards. I left for Canada, Australia, New Zealand in 1974 but guess what COVID is dividing everyone into different ‘camps’ negativity creeps in like black mould, oh what a ramble on. Best wishes to ol’ Swindon town and everyone the land 😃 Robert Smith
