my name is Carlos Bermudez, I´m an amateur pianist. I´ve been learning new technics on keyboard through some videos post it here in TH-cam, let me tell you Sir, I´ve learned more about piano skills in these 53: 45 min than all the time I take viewing videos, thank you so much Corey Taylor, if anyone tells me who show me to play better, I will say : mr Corey Taylor did. I appreciate that, God keep on blessing you so much!!! regards from Lima Perú.
WOW!!! Thank you so much! I'm so glad to hear that these videos are helping you! Please help spread the word about this channel! Be blessed and Happy Practicing!
I'm only two voicings in, but I love the way you've set up the lesson: 1. Name the Voicing 2. Give Ways to Play It, 3 Ways to Practice It. Makes the videos way more useful as a reference because this is how music is learned (cop the lick, name the lick, assimilate the lick into what you do through practical practice). Keep up the good work, Doc!!!
This is the War and Peace of tutorials. Just amazing The fact that your such a great performer makes it difficult though because no one can teach that. "Woooo!!"
Out of all the music channels on TH-cam claiming to offer quick and applicable musical advice, your channel is probably one of the only ones that can truly say that it's fulfilled that offering. I've learned so much already! Thank you.
I've been struggling to get into jazz for the past year or so and had no clue had to begin. At first I avoided your videos because I have a short attention span and they tend to be very long, but I found myself easily watching through them because of how concisely you teach as well as your personality and energy you bring to each video. I wish I'd started watching them sooner, thank you for all the work you do giving so much knowledge at for free
Dude you are just amazing.....love your teaching and your style....I have playing a long time....and You are making me much better...Thank you very much! May the Lord Bless you today and always!
There are so many piano channels out there but yours is the best by a wide margin. It's just the right pacing - neither too much rush nor too much redundancy - as well as clear and concise explanations, good examples...you're a great teacher and I hope there is much more to come.
Sir, this channel is amazing. Please never delete them! It will take quite some time to watch them all and learn the concepts. Really, really greatly appreciated and incredible playing!
I am a trumpet player who also does some song writing, and composing. The theory, and ideas, that you share in your videos are invaluable. Thanks, Corey, and keep up the good work!
Very AWESOME stuff. Long way from where id like to be. I do enjoy your vids. Im teaching myself. For over 2.5 yrs thank the lord and AWESOME players like yourself ill learn the whole thing one day.
Excellent resource, thanks. Here's an interesting A minor voicing as you did say to make suggestions!: L: A, C, D, E, B R: E, G#, C#, F!! And resolve the F and C# to C and E. Play A and C separately at the bottom first then hold the chord. Kind of like D flat over A minor, or A minor major 7 add 9 flat 11 flat 13 LOL! C# should never work for A minor but it does when resolved! Dark sound!
Have you ever wondered about ways to make your minor chords sound better? What kind of minor chords do the greats play? In today's lesson, we examine minor chords and the many ways they can be adjusted to give amazing sounds.
Let me start by saying I have studied with some remarkable musicians in my life time I am Coptic jazz musician I play mainly guitar and bass and have studied piano for many years you demystified all the important things that people have to learn to create and play honest music god bless you my brother may Christ keep you I would love a transcriptions of all of your lessons.
I have only started to learn piano and I have to say I am getting a lot out of your tutorials - beyond my skill level just now, but storing all of information for future use. Thank you for putting them out there to help players of all levels. You are a very skillful musician amd educator. Keep safe.
Hey Corey, I came across you while I was on TH-cam... Glad I did! I love this lesson and will be watching some more? I consider myself a blues piano player but I dabble in some gospel and jazz. Also I am a big fan of the New Orleans sound. Dr.John, Professor Longhair, James Booker etc... I watched about 4 or 5 of your videos and liked them all. Keep up the good work! Chris from Philadelphia PA
Thanks Oscar! We are definitely still an up and coming channel, and I'm hopeful we can get there. Could you definitely help spread the word about our channel?
man that was lovely explanation I love how you fly past the inversions ...thankyo really what I need the pace and the tunes great..I needed to see how these jazz chords happen. I don't read music... well very minor,,but this is a great lesson thanks :)
Hey, just wanted to let you know that I keep being incredibly inspired by your videos, your such a great teacher ! And by the way, I wanted to know if you could possibly do a video on the "ii-V-I Passing Chords" as you mentioned in your video about passing chords, would be awesome! Thank you and greetings from France !
Just stumbled upon your Channel, great stuff, insta sub and planning to binge watch all in The coming days. Have been playing piano for 2 months after 25 year break. Cannot wait to learn from you. Greetings from Poland :)
Taylor I love your way of teaching! Am your fan and I wonder why you are not on google coz am eagerly waiting your biography! Charmant from Rwanda I like your inherently rhythm is incredible! Your body is drums

The best tutorials right here! Thank you so much! And yep, I Enjoyed some dark chocolate 🍫 and dipped it in peanut 🥜 butter after you you show cased the Hancock voicing! Probably stumbled on an excellent cross marketing concept here!! Your tutorials are kinda like that - one feels like they can digest the learning. So well done! Still hoping for a 251 drill + voicing lab in major/ minor through all keys 🔐
Hey Corey, loved the episode as always. As for future lesson ideas, it would be great to see voicings for the other chord types like major and altered dominant (saw some great alt dominant stuff in this video when you applied the minor chords to 251s.) Anyway, thanks.
Great lesson as always! just wondering if you could do a lesson focused on improvisation: hints and ways to develope musical contigous story. it'd be beautiful
What's up my fellow Clemson Tiger?! Another great lesson! Thank you for doing this bro. Makes me feel like I'm 19 again sitting in class watching you destroy the keys. I'm trying to watch them all!
Hey Aaron! What's going on? Man I appreciate the kind words... You might have been watching me when I played, but whenever you played, I made sure I was standing close by to steal some of your moves!. I greatly appreciate the support!
Thank you so much for these videos! you are very generous with sharing your knowledge! may I ask what software you are using to display the virtual piano keyboard with the light-up keys? & how do you record your face and the notation also? thank you so much!

We are actually building towards a HUGE video on major and minor 2-5-1 progressions (7-3-6 is just a minor 2-5-1 chord progression). Please stay tuned to the channel as that video will be coming really, really soon.
Good question Samuel. For the Quartal (4ths) Minor Chord Voicing, there were actually 7 chords in that one concept. And I believe there were two additional ones in the "Create Your Own Voicing" Section. Hope that helps. Thank you so much for watching!

The chord you’re playing at the beginning of part 7 is made popular by Kenny Werner.
Exactly!
Hi. Thanks for a new lesson but i need a help for chromatic descending progression in details please. thanks in advance
Here is one that we did on a previous video - th-cam.com/video/q6JJpOEMCY0/w-d-xo.htmlm3s
Most important thing am walking away with is the practice strategy 🤞
Cool deal! Be Blessed and Happy Practicing!
what piano sample are you using, it has a Herbie-ish bite to it. I know for a while he was steinway exclusive guy
I believe in this video I used the Spectrasonics Keyscapes Yamaha C7.
very good!!!!
Thank you so much!
I like your insights
I appreciate that!
Thank you so much for these videos! you are very generous with sharing your knowledge! may I ask what software you are using to display the virtual piano keyboard with the light-up keys? & how do you record your face and the notation also? thank you so much!
No worries, I found it! thanks!
Ok cool deal! Thanks for checking out our channel!
I’ve just been made into the way to practice and learn how to play and create
Cool deal! Glad to help!
There is no chord that has a “peanut smooth quality” heheh LOL .. This man is the greatest teacher!
LOL...thanks!
sometimes you can harmonize yourself into a "double dominant" such as a 13 b9 #9 #11 just drop the 2 somewhere, and ppl will think it's supposed to be there
Lol…cool!
Great ideas ! Kool midi software ! What is this software that projects the chord names/extensions & voicings on the fly, simultaneously along with note-for-note visual keyboard ??

Just discovered this channel. The set up with the chords and the notes is brilliant.
stupid question here, but why are the #11 chords, with no fifth, could they be called b5 chords?
I believe so. For example, a half-diminished chord is a Cm7b5.
What do you do if you can’t reach with the Kenny voicing. My hands are pretty tiny😂
Start with the lowest note, and "roll up", or in other words play the rest of the left hand notes quickly from bottom to top.
I am female and have a similar problem. Some notes I cannot reach because of my short fingers-Lol. Thanks for the tip! I really appreciate the excellent teaching. Blessings!
Boss how do I come in contact with u sir plzzzz
You can email me at ctaylor@skilledmusician.com our schedule a lesson with me using this link - www.skilledmusician.com/private-lesson-sign-page/
Nice
Thanks!
Hey man, great tutorial! Pretty clear! But, I have a question, what is the software's name showing the keyboard and the key? Thank you so much!

Thank you so much! Man!
what piano are you using?
I don't remember but it's either the Spectrasonics Keyscapes Yamaha C7 or Ravenscroft 275 piano.
You got any vids on 7 3 6
We are actually building towards a HUGE video on major and minor 2-5-1 progressions (7-3-6 is just a minor 2-5-1 chord progression). Please stay tuned to the channel as that video will be coming really, really soon.
you are number one :)
LOL...thank you for your kind words!
I notice a couple of your chords are labeled as n.c. but your playing a chord, is there something we should know about that n.c. symbol?
Hey Randy! N.C. just means No Chord. So if I play two octave C's, it will say N.C. as that isn't a chord.
Cool thanks, Awesome video btw
I like the 2 tritone chord at the end!!
Deus abençoe
Muito obrigado!
31:40 Rain? Shower? frying an egg?
Lol… it does sound like that…
Something disgusting to do on the Kenny Barron chord is add a major 6 note a half step beneath the flat 7. So for C min (C G D Eb A Bb F)
🙌
You are absolutely right! That's a nasty chord. Actually one of my favorites!
You said 15 but covered only 7 why?
Good question Samuel. For the Quartal (4ths) Minor Chord Voicing, there were actually 7 chords in that one concept. And I believe there were two additional ones in the "Create Your Own Voicing" Section. Hope that helps. Thank you so much for watching!
FIRST! BLESS YOUU
LOL!!! You were really, really fast. Thanks for being part of our community.
Skilled Musician always waiting for more awesome
New content from you

Agreed! Chick Corea is unbelievable! I've spent many hours wracking my brain trying to figure out how he does what he does.
Skilled Musician - well you got mad talent yourself. You got any albums on Spotify or somewhere? Your sound is lush and I dig it
