She would be funny. Threatening everyone and everyone just laughs. Eleanor: "How dare you laugh at the likes of I! I am great and terrible!" Audience: "Hahahaha!"
Walt Disney modeled a lot of his characters on his voice actress; did you ever notice how much Alice and Wendy (both voiced by Kathryn Beaumont) look alike? Also, though opera singers are not usually noted for their physical beauty, the singer who voiced Sleeping Beauty herself, Mary Costa, could easily have played her in a live-action version. I think that Walt Disney did a particularly good job with Lady Tremaine/Eleanor Audley; the heart-shaped face, the eye color and shape, even how she moved her mouth when she spoke were perfectly on point.
Eleanor Audley had such a powerful voice. It's a shame she couldn't be alive to voice Maleficent in other adaptions. Susan Blakeslee has done a good job but she can't match up to Eleanor Audley's amazing voice.
Her voice is like Pat Carroll's (the woman who played Ursula in the Little Mermaid)- recognizable anywhere! I wish such voices were cast now in animation. Now, producers just rely on the most popular actors and actresses in order to get attention for their films rather than focusing on a good story. Just because you're a top dog in Hollywood, that doesn't mean you should be placed in voice work. Whole different set of skills and talent for that.
Jeremy Irons and Tony Jay utilized their voices to be firm with authority and somehow menacing. James Woods, on the other hand, voiced Hades like a sleazeball
