Excellent video as usual. I live in Merseyside although I used to live on the Surrey-London border. I'll hopefully be heading south to a friend's house in Basingstoke in about a month to celebrate a significant birthday, so intend to spend a while at Reading West station and doing Crossrail too. May try and squeeze in the Barking Reach extension and a trip to Chessington South to see Cappagh's terminal.
That stone train towards the end with the mid train loco, was the loco live banking or dead in train until required at the quarry loading when the train is split? A lot of SFA (sweet fresh air) on some of the container flats trains. Required if the boats come in at Southampton for a balanced working.
The last trai in this video runs like that most weekdays, ita a way of getting two trains back to Merehead quarry using one driver. You are sort of right about the empty container working. Thanks for watching my video Brian.
It's not a DPU: UK locos aren't fitted with the remote-control equipment that's needed for that. The train is empties returning to the quarry so they've just joined two of them together, as a single locomotive can tow the whole thing. The locomotive in the middle isn't running, I think.
Mike this was brilliant. With the diverts it must have been non stop action. You also got a rare catch in seeing 66793 on a intermodal. It was filling in for a failure as its not normally supposed to do intermodals. Great stuff 👍🏻👏🏻

What you filmed in a day would take me months to achieve mate. Highlight for me was the 2 59s very good footage
It got very busy and I didn't have time to get a better angle at times mate.
