Gunsmoke was my dad's favorite show. We all sat in our living room on Saturday night and watched Gunsmoke my Mom Dad brother and two sisters and myself. Great memories of family time.
It’s so good to find this old footage. It’s also sad. No longer with us but have entertained millions with their humor and charm on Gunsmoke. It’s a era of tv that we will never see again. Replaced by whatever todays entertainment is. I’ll continue to watch the shows from years ago. When tv was entertaining.❤
Agreed. I watch Grit-TV channel often and Me-TV. H & I network has "Good Guys at sunrise" in the mornings. Current / modern TV programs are mostly gunk & junk.
Both these guys were great. Curtis was a spectacular talent, a great character actor with the singing voice of an angel. He should've been a bigger star.
I sat on Ken Curtis's lap as a boy @ the "Pendleton Round Up". I also met Lynn Anderson, a country singer on top in the 60's. Genuine down to earth welcome and impressed me to work hard in school and life.
Their interplay was tremendous. At 63, I’ve just recently started watching the show. I don’t watch much TV other than older shows, and Doc and Festus have quickly become two of my favorite characters.
One of my top 5 TV series. The best scenes were with Doc & Festus and/or Clint & Festus. That's when men were men on TV series. Still watch almost everyday.
Doc and Festus, two great actors, they played their role very well, two of the best, every one on Gunsmoke were good actors, been watching Gunsmoke for 60 plus years, watch it 3 or 4 times a week now, Gunsmoke was a true CLASSIC, THANKS for sharing this of Ken Curtis and Milburn Stone, True Actors!
Wow! Trip down Memory Lane. We watched those guys and the whole show each week on "Gunsmoke" for many years. My sister and I used to stand up and "draw" with Marshall Dillon each week at the Introduction of the show and shoot the "Bad guy". For years they were on Saturday nights. Watched it after "The Lawrence Welk Show". Then the network moved the program to Monday nights. Milburn Stone (aka: "Doc") did a good job acting / sounding like a TV Reporter/Interviewer. Ken Curtiss was a good singer and could play a guitar also. {He sang in the movies "Rio Grande" (with 'The Sons of The Pioneers" outside the Commander's tent and in "The Searchers".
if you young'uns wants a real treat, (and who on the dadgummed planet don't want a real treat), I recommend you hear Ken Curtis singing. He could really siang.
These were Two Great Actors that played off of each other really well. I never got too see Milburn Stone in person or in many other Show's besides Gunsmoke. But I was treated too Ken Curtis's Solo performance Singing & doing a Variety Act at The Western Canadian Rodeo in Edmonton Alberta Canada in the Early 1970s with my Family. Mr Curtis came out into the Arena dressed as Festus, & then immediately gave us an apology that Ruth His Mule couldn't be there that Night? He then told us that Her Plane had been Hijacked too Cuba? So then there were Two Jackass's in that Country, instead of just the One 😮😮😮🎉🎉. Boy could that Son of a Gun Sing like an Angel 😇😇😇. TKS.
Never thought the character Festus was stupid. What he lacked in education he made up for in common sense. Never determine someone's intelligence by their accent
What a talented two doc and festus were my husband still loves to watch gunsmoke he loves them all but he thinks that festus makes the show rip in peace
If they had planes and airports in the old west,Festus: Doc I aint a gittin on that there contraption,Doc:what contraption? That there machine with wings that takes ya up in the air, Doc:and just what are you afraid of? Well nuthin,it just that i dont trust anything that looks like a bird but aint a bird dontcha see?Doc: well i never heard of anything so ridiculous,Festus: Ah you ol scudder.
My two most favorite characters from Gunsmoke, hands down. The world should know Festus was a thing!!!!
We need more people in this world like these guys.
Ken brought so much to Gunsmoke.
Yes that man would have brought the ratings up considerably. Such an entertainer.
Loved seeing them in and out of character.
Was there with my mom, dad and brother, I was 9 years old, a great show.
LUCKY ❤
Festus, Ken Curtis was a handsome man.
Great show!! No filth. No ugly language. ❤❤ Newly will FOREVER be my favorite ❤❤❤
I still love these men!
❤
Festus has the most beautiful smile! I loved them both watched them everyday ❤❤
Ken's smile could light up the room. Utterly genuine.
He also has a beautiful singing voice
Wow!! To hear Ken Curtis talk without the Festus accent!! Wow!
And to hear him sing with "Sons of the Pioneers" :>)...he was very talented!
@@randallalan4221 Yeah, I heard him then on tv with my Dad.😊
Listen to his singing. He was very gifted. These two were great om Gunsmoke as all of the actors were.
Ken Curtis was quite the character actor and had a very good singing voice.
Gunsmoke was my dad's favorite show. We all sat in our living room on Saturday night and watched Gunsmoke my Mom Dad brother and two sisters and myself. Great memories of family time.
Priceless.
when men had class
you got that right
Yup. Now they try to overthrow the government and pay off pornstars. All while cheating on their wives and pretending to be good Christians.
American icons, both of them.
true
Women did back then too

I loved the times they both fought with each other😀😂💜

Loved learning that Festus off stage real name is Ken Curtis, Sings really good, been in many John Wayne movies, cool
And he was a devout Christian
His real name was Curtis Wain Gates, originally from Las Animas, Colorado. Ken Curtis was his Hollywood name.
@@lonnieallen3530 good to know. Heck of a Singer he was.
Curtis appeared on a few gunsmoke episodes before he became festus, and he acts and speaks completely different
Ken. Curtis. Legend.
Ken Curtis really was a great actor! Not really a great actor….he was phenomenal! He really played the character of Festus just amazingly.
Gunsmoke was my grandma favorite show. You. You couldn’t talk with it. Was on.
Ken Curtis was AWESOME 👏
Lmao them two we nothing but gold together ❤😂

When I was a kid I saw them at the Nampa Stampede, I was so excited. I remember they smelled good!
Good times‼️
Saw Ken at a rodeo in Lafayette Louisiana in the 70's. He sure could sing.
Great off stage interview

Great clip
Festus one has to be very smart to act that stupid, love you to bits
Never thought the character Festus was stupid. What he lacked in education he made up for in common sense. Never determine someone's intelligence by their accent
Festus was a character and just sounded "stupid" but he was no dope and tough as nails when he needed to be.
What a talented two doc and festus were my husband still loves to watch gunsmoke he loves them all but he thinks that festus makes the show rip in peace
Ohhhh!!!!? Them two!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love them all so much! ❤😂
That interview was over quicker than you can say "rat ran across the roof of the house with a piece of raw liver in his mouth."
Ken’s real voice 😮.
Sehr schön diese tollen Schauspieler ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
People laugh at me when I tell them that ken curtis was my favorite actor of all time. His real name was curtis wain gates then changed to ken curtis.
Good video
Ken in real life sounded nothing like Festus haahaa
I wonder if Ken unconsciously slips into Festus
Funny guys
Well, that was strange. The takeaway is that in real life Ken Curtis isn't a moron.
Not bad ⚡️

I think festus was Mat best sidekick
When Festus goes out of character into Ken’s real voice Milburn sounds more hick than Ken lol
When men didn’t have to curse and use bad language to be entertaining
Those 2 made the show it want Chester
Priceless
