Here's my recommendation for how to get the accumulator quick change released at the fire wall. Get the Lisle 37000 release tools. Cut the pipe off that leads from the accumulator to the firewall. Cut it close to the accumulator. Be careful as there is other stuff you can cut into.
Remove the accumulator and the bracket that is bolted to the car that holds the accumulator. Now you have a bit more room to get your hands in there. See how hard it is to pivot the pipe stub you have to remove. I could barely move mine. I sprayed some PB Blaster (or WD40, Liquid wrench) as best I could to get some into that union to allow it to pivot just a touch easier. Use the 7/8" Lisle tool and pull it into the union from the back. Wiggle, pull, pivot, push, pivot, pull, etc until it comes loose. I went in with the 5/8 tool as well and fiddled. Move the tool and move the pipe but absolutely no heavy pressure on the pipe. Just pivot it and a little side to side movement to get that tool under the spring to release it.
You will be ready to hang yourself just before it comes free.

The one thing you didn't show is how do you remove the quick disconnect off the backside of the accumulator? You talked and talked and talked but I did not see or hear how you were able to get to that disconnection point?

How the hell do you get the top ac line off the heater core box? I got the bottom off but the top one is a pain in the ass

I'm about to replace the compressor and accumulator on my 06 Dakota. Do you have to add oil to the accumulator or do you literally take the old one off and put the new one on?

jroberts7387 I did not add oil to mine I was wondering that myself and couldn’t find anything that stated that I had too hope this helps and good luck

@@walg4344 I'd actually heard both. Just seemed odd to me to put oil in something that is supposed to absorb moisture.
I appreciate the video. I was a little intimidated messing with the A/C system

You could have bought the whole line with orifice tube built into it for cheap.

While I like your explanation and video, because I’m not a mechanic, I find that I can’t tell how to do the replacement because your insert video is too small to actually see well.

Confusing, disorganized, badly made video. Hard pass. Don't waste you time watching
