  • Before Kip Moore became the award-winning artist he is today, he had to maintain his passion - or as he puts it, “a little bit of crazy” - for 8 years. Marty Smith sits down with the “Beer Money” singer to talk about his fierce dedication to country music, sports’ influence on his music career, and his love for all things surfing. He released his double album this spring and opens up about how factors like the pandemic and “the awakening of a country” adjusted the album’s success. Listen to ‘The Road You Leave Behind’ as Kip Moore talks regrets, motivations, and faith.

Kip is one of the best & most underrated artists in the music industry and his songwriting ability is on an entirely different level. I agree 110% that radio has missed the mark by not playing music from this album in it's entirety. It's one of his best albums to date & I love all his previous records & EP's & previous underground projects each & every cut is amazing & unique in it's own right and need to be heard. Marty this was by far one of the best Kip Moore interviews I've ever heard. A+ my man. 🤙 💖🎶🎸🎵🎤🔥

Seeing Kip live was one of the best shows ive ever seen. the no frills, thrills, flashy lights or smoke environment is so much more intimate. Comparable to when i saw George Strait in buffalo some 10 years prior. My wife and I are huge fans and we have every record except the deluxe version of wild world, i plan on remedying that within the next week or two. Probably like a thousand others out there, and for good reason, our first dance as husband and wife was "Hey Pretty Girl". Although id like to think im the only one who pirated a completely acoustic version off youtube that was just kip and his guitar doing that song. This song is special to us for more than one reason. "Wild ones, janie blu, southpaw, plead the fifth, blame" just to name a few, are on my list of songs that i just cant play loud enough. Hearing kip speak about playing bittersweet company as an opening song took me back to the night we saw him at the Kodak Center in Rochester, NY 2019 room to spare tour. After being introduced to tucker beathard who i am now a big fan of we were hitting the bathroom before kip started his set and still in the hallway when he started bittersweet company, vocals only, i was physically feeling the soundwaves coming out of the theatre into the hallway and pulling me in. after that song, they played one more before kip said something to the affect of "dam rochester, i didnt know how this was gonna go tonight but were about to change what i originally had planned, were gonna have some fun" and the place erupted. show was scheduled til about 1030, at 1020 kip asks what time it was and then says "dang, just starting to find my groove here, you dont want to go home just yet right?" another eruption. at perhaps 1115 he comes back out to talk to us one last time for the encore, he starts playing guitar man. And I mean legitimately pouring his heart and soul out on that stage, offering that song up as a final gift and goodbye. its late people and people have long drives home, so they are starting to head out, which i can understand we had an hour or so drive that night ourselves. we stay til the end but i hate the fact that i thought for even a second to get up and leave and try and beat the traffic out of the parking lot, this man now with his band behind him shoulder to shoulder almost as if they are giving him a big group hug while he closes it out was such a powerful moment, made me vow to never let the thought of leaving the theatre before the performers leave the stage ever again. This was long winded, but im glad i said it. Thank you Kip, and thank you Marty for hosting the podcast with the most underrated country artist in the business today, and frankly an underrated singer/songwriter of any genre.

What a fantastic interview!! I had the privilege to briefly meet Kip in Nashville at the bluebird during a songwriters event along with Brett James. I had no idea who he was at the time (as I was brand new to country music), but as soon as he ripped into his first song, I was blown away! Now his music plays throughout my house everyday!! Truly underrated in my opinion, but definitely greatly appreciated in this household! Already snagged my tix for the Detroit show! Can't wait for my first Kip w/ full band experience! Much love from southern Ontario Canada!
