My mom always read me "I'll love you forever" and I'm grown and married now and still the thought of it fills me with love and happiness to the point of tearing up. 100% recommend it
Goodnight Moon - this book is a must! I remember my dad reading this to us so we created the tradition with our daughters. They are now 28 & 26. Still no grandchildren to share this with but we give it to all the little babies in our lives. They sell it in a tiny board book so little hands can hold it. It is about a little bunny getting ready for bed. It is a fun story for you and your little baby to share in the poetry of the words. Still to this day my daughters and I can repeat the lines together. Super Super Sweet!
For the first year, I would say to make sure to stock up on those fabric/soft books and those hard cardboard ones (like the borwn bear book you got) because the paper ones would be harder to turn the pages for the little hands, and also decrease book tearing/ wrinkling fiascoes :) but those are already fun books to start off with!
I like Sandra Boynton books. Especially “Barnyard Dance”, “My oh, my oh, Dinosaurs”, and “Hippos Go Berserk”. Also P. D. Eastman’s “Are you my mother?” and “I’ll teach my dog a lot of words”.
Yes!!! You can't go wrong with Sandra's books! My son loves The Going To Bed Book, Pajama Time, Moo Baa La La, The birthday Monsters. So many good ones!
Books are so fun!! Don't forget about heading to your local library for storytimes and book check outs when the little guy gets a smidge older! Anyway our favorites are, 'My Truck is Stuck', Click Clack Moo, Good Night Steam Train, Give a Mouse a Cookie, The Little Engine that Could, just to name a few. Also, check into the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and see if your area is a part of this program. If it is, your little guy will get a book every month from birth to 5. Again, your local library should know more!
Teddy was SO excited to hear you ask for book suggestions... in his first four and a half years, there are books that we have been reading him since the very beginning, and are STILL favorites of both Teddy and parents: “I Love You, Stinky Face” “Little Blue Truck” “Little Pea” All are so much fun to read for the parent and perennial favorites for Teddy. We also love Karma Wilson’s “Bear” books, which are brilliantly written rhythmic poetry stories, and *everything* by Ben Clanton.
Book Suggestions: Sign up for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. Your little man will get a book each month for free until he turns 5. As for ones I enjoyed reading to my kids you'll never go wrong with good night moon, if you give a mouse a cookie or the little engine that could.
I tried to do this but it's not available in my area. This reminds me tho, that my LO like the little engine that could. Then when we went to Dollywood. They had a performance of it. It was cute.
“The monster at the end of this book” “Good night Moon” “Are you my mother” Also, board books are the best. I think all of the dr. Seuss books come in small broad books, my kids love them.
My only thing with the dr seuss board books is that the board books actually cuts out some pages in some of them. I personally would rather have the original books.
Since you announced the pregnancy, I’ve been adamant that this baby is coming for Thanksgiving. Not only do I think it’s the best day ever for this little man to arrive, but so, so soon. 😉♥️♥️♥️🦃
“Goodnight Moon” was our nightly must read. Our daughter knew by heart by the time she was three. She also loved “Brown bear, brown bear” and as she got a little older “Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day”. I’m so excited for this new life adventure you’re about to take ❤️
I just wanted to say you two are so adorable and are going to make AWESOME parents. Also, your nursery looks great. Best of luck to both of you (and little Tracker).
Hi Tim and Jen 😃 “if you give a mouse a cookie” by Laura Numeroff was my nephews favourite book, that I even memorized all of it so I could tell it to him anytime ❤️ great book !
Oh my. My heart is melting after Tim called Jenn momma 🥰 Both of my kids absolutely loved Brown Bear Brown Bear. They both memorized it and loved to ‘read’ it to me 😊
You pronounce “Pirates of the Caribbean” differently than “Caribbean Beach” because one is an adjective and one is a noun. It’s a noun in the ride name and an adjective in the hotel name :)
“On the night you were born” is a book I read to all four of my children every year on their birthdays. It’s a beautiful story that will leave you a bit misty-eyed. Blessings to you and your little boy 💙
For baby books: "Goodnight Moon" and "Pat the Bunny" were my favorites. Pat the Bunny is especially great because it's a 'touch and feel' book, meaning it has little interactive pages with different fabrics on each page. Great for newborns - toddlers.
Some of our favorite books were: Goodnight Moon, Guess How Much I Love You, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, I Love You Through and Through, and so many books by Sandra Boynton-especially Pajama Time, Fifteen Animals, and Oh My Oh My Oh Dinosaurs!
The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child are brilliant books, both of my kids loved listening to the stories and making different animal voices as they read along with me.
Anything by Eric Carle: “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?” was my oldest sons favorite. He would cry when I would get to the end because he knew it was done. I had to read it several times. There are more to the series like; “Baby Bear, Baby Bear, What do you see?” and “Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What do you hear?” Carle also has a book called “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”
My kids loved Going on a Bear Hunt. Our copy is worn and falling apart and they had it all memorized. I just bought it to give to someone as a baby shower gift.
Love that you are building a library for your little one, here are a couple suggestions: - Green eggs & ham, Dr. Seuss - The deep blue sea, Barbara Paulding (a bedtime shadow book, so cool! & perfect for your baby's room theme) - Nighttime nursery rhymes, Barbara Paulding (another bedtime shadow book) -Pat the bunny, Dorothy Kunhardt ( cute touch & feel book, there's even a set of 3 books including; pat the puppy, and pat the cat) Question/request: If possible could you ask your friends to allow you to share the recipe for the vegan Alfredo sauce? I'd like to try making it since you both liked it. Thank you!
Our favorite kid’s books are “The Runaway Bunny”, “Goodnight Moon”, “The Kissing Hand”, “Love You Forever”, “Where the Wild Things Are”, “I Love You, Stinky Face”, or any Dr. Seuss, Eric Carle or Sandra Boynton books!
My daughter has been in speech therapy for the past 5mo. Brown Bear Brown Bear was the first book she read back with us and then to us. Also Snuggle Puppy was a book we read for a long time. She finally started reading it back to us, and was the book she finally repeated “I love you”. It was pure magic to hear those words come out of her mouth! Best of luck with your sweet baby boy! ❤️❤️
"The Gruffallo" and "There's a monster at the end of this book" were my favorite books growing up! I also liked "Room on the Broom", "A squash and a squeeze", "The tickle book", and the Elephand and Piggie series
I'm a school librarian, and there are just too many good children's books to list, haha! Definitely use your local library for books!! I recommend anything by Mo Willems, he's great! Kids love the Elephant and Piggie books, and the Pigeon books.
Anything by Mo Willems is my 5 year olds favorite. He loves when I read "The Book with No Pictures". Anything by Nancy Tillman: "Wherever You Are: My Love Will Find You" especially. I loved reading "The Pout Pout Fish". They love lift the flap books when they get older, "Dear Zoo: A Lift-the-Flap Book" was one of my kid's favorites.
I am a early childhood education teacher and my kiddos (infants-2’s) love Brown Bear, Brown Bear by Eric Carle and Pout Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen. Both have great rhyming words which helps differentiate sounds, tone of voice and flow of speech. Also, get some books that have sensory experiences like different fabrics and textures since infants are so fixated on these things! Hope this helps ❤️
Any book by Eric Carle was always a win in our family! All 4 of my kids adored them! Also I am a teacher and even at 3-years-old it is great when little ones can repeat the words from a book....makes great early literacy skills! So any books that repeat themselves are wonderful, even for newborns!
Would definitely say “The Kissing Hand” is a personal pick for me. My mom and I read it soo much when I was little, and would do the ritual when I was worried or when I would head off to school.

Our kids loved the "I Love you Stinky Face" books when they were little. Even though they are adults now, we still have a tradition of reading "Merry Christmas Stinky Face" every Christmas Eve.
Being a recently retired nursery school teacher for pre-K, the Mo Willems books are great, as well as the books by Judith Byron Schachter ("Skippyjon Jones" etc.). The Froggy books are also hysterical...all written by Jonathan London. Tim and Jen (and baby makes 3) will adore all these, especially when baby Tracker hits age 4 or so.

"If You Give A Mouse A Cookie" is an awesome book! There are other books in the series, too!

We did this for my first kiddo.
Absolutely! Fantastic idea.
I agree, we did this and our daughter now has a bookcase full of books:)
You pronounce “Pirates of the Caribbean” differently than “Caribbean Beach” because one is an adjective and one is a noun. It’s a noun in the ride name and an adjective in the hotel name :)
Tiffany Vance ohhh that’s interesting 😯
One is the British pronunciation (pirates) and one is American. If that helps....
@@pap3rwings Maybe it is, but I'm British and only use one pronunciation (despite living in the USA for 15 years!).
Tiffany Vance so interesting, thanks!!
Growing up, I made my mom read “The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh” to me every day. Such a precious book to read to a little one!

In 'Carribean Beach', 'Carribean' is an adjective. In 'Pirates of the Carribbean', it's a noun. This can affect pronunciation for some people 🤓
I pronounce both the same way too Tim! I think a lot of people do. That's how everyone else I hear pronounce the ride vs. The hotel. Meh!
