Thanks very much for suggesting this for my Astro photography class
This was exactly what I needed to see. I purchased a Brighton Star 35 mm f.95 and was having a terrible time with focus now you solved my problem and ended my frustration!
I should also add that I enjoyed your field trips. Spending 20 years in Kingston NY those views and the old Marwencol film :)
Thanx a lot for all the help. It was way easier to learn from ur video than to go thru the instruction manual
Brilliant video. Absolutely learned so much from this. Thank you
Glad it was helpful and thank you for the kind words :)
Great video as always Jason. I’d be interested to see a more video focused manual focus video (lol) as a hybrid shooter? I’m sure there’s a lot to learn on that side
Thank you and not really much different for video Cam. I use both magnify zoom and focus peaking as tools when recording video using a manual focus lens.
Thanks for the Video much appreciated 👍
Your very welcome!
Thanks for such a good explanation!
You're very welcome!
Thank you very much expert for good details 👍
You are welcome :)
Nice video, Jason. I’m looking forward to your review of the TTartisan 100/2.8 as well.
Thanks! TT100mm Coming soon, and that lens is an interesting optic sure!!
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it Amy and thanks for the kind words 👊
Thanks!
Welcome!
Jason when you put the camera on to MED fire was it on Mechanical shutter or Electronic I could hear the shutter noise just wondering 🙏
Mechanical shutter Malcom 👍
Very nice explanation! Just a question. On 1:43 : I need to do the same but when the camera is in Video Mode. But, if I double touch the screen, it shows follow target indicator. Please help!
Did you try using the custom button method I suggested in the video for the magnify zoom? The double tap is a bit of a pain to use I notice...
@@Jason_Hermann Thanks. Yes, the one you mention, works well, but it takes so much time, because you have to go to the endless menu and found that option. This only happens in Video Mode. So, I had to add a custom menu, adding this option to come in hand quickly everytime I need it.
How did you get the double tap zoom to work? Is it in the setting because mine doesnt to that by default
Touch has to be enabled for the double tap to work. It's a little bit finicky to get it to work all the time though which is why I set the C2 button for Magnify zoom towards the end of the video...
Jason I have a A6700 and this, ie Magnification in MF mode, does not work for me in the manner you explain. I can set it via the menu system but that is it. I have Auto magnifier in MF set and it still does not work. I was trying to some astro the other night for the first time with the A6700 and for the life of me could not get the mag to work so I could focus on a star in the manner you explain. I have another issue in that the swipe left and right does not change the icons on the screen
I worked it out.
Nice, what was it?
@@Jason_Hermann I was enabling touch but not touch focus.
Very good explanation but, how uncomfortable the screen on the side...
Thank you and it's ok on the side, as you get used to it pretty quick, and for filming in front of the camera this screen is awesome. The A7R5 and A9 III have that new really nice flip screen option that does everything like the old style and this new style...
@@Jason_Hermann Sorry, but I don´t agree. I never film in front of the camera. You have the ZV models for that.
@@biogons14 No reason to be sorry man, we all have our preferences and use cases. I use mine for Pro Video, Pro Photography, and also filming in front of the camera for talking head footage. So for me the versatility is better suited overall. All the best, Jay
How do i stop it from zooming in when i manually focus on my sigma 30mm 1.4
MENU → (Focus) → [Focus Assistant] → [Auto Magnifier in MF] → [Off].
@@Jason_Hermann man thank you so much 🙏🏻 I appreciate it
