I would show my fuelings at the movies, on vacation, at the nail place, etc. I was so brainwashed and had no idea I was alienating myself from people in my life because of this cult.
Half the fun of traveling abroad is trying the local food. I must admit I enjoy watching Julie's slow simmer to getting ticked off at all this MLM crud. 😁
the thing that really resonated with me was when the first person said "I know it's good for me"... I've dealt with disordered eating and that was such a triggering moment because I remember saying to myself "this is good for you" when forcing myself to eat things I hated but I thought would make me thinner (and therefore a better person because there is this bullshit moral layer to assumptions about physical appearance), and I know I'm not the only person. and then I think of the things I've gotten to try when traveling... of the joy of trying someone's mother's favorite dish... and it just makes me so sad for everyone in this cult who is being convinced that they should be eating these "fuelings" instead of experiencing the delight that real food can bring. (and #1 is going to EUROPE! think of the cheese! the wine! the CHOCOLATE! the fresh pasta with lemon! the ratatouille! you need the calories to do all that walking and you WILL want to walk and explore!)
The suitcase full of fuelings is making me relive my ED. Any occasion where I didn’t have control over what food was available was terrifying. Imagine getting out of the MLM 🤞and seeing all your travel pics tainted.
She’s traveling to Europe and packing food!? If I’m traveling to another CONTINENT for pleasure, I am not packing food. Local cuisine all the way for me!!
When you’re in Optavia, they tell you if you consume anything that’s not on plan, you’ll push yourself out of “fat burn,” and destroy all your hard work. Lots of fear tactics
This from a US News and World Reports ranking (effectively an ad for scams ) blows my mind 🤯…. the list of foods you should not eat includes many recommended by actual nutritionists as being important for a healthy diet! “Do not include starchy vegetables, fresh fruits, low-fat dairy or whole grain in your diet until the transition plan.” I assume the “transition plan” never happens because they want to to keep buying the expensive prepackaged product.
@ yep, the plan is insane. They tell these poor people, after starving them for days and weeks, that if they consume a bean or a piece of fruit, they’ll stop losing weight…they also tell them not to exercise, that it will make them too hungry to stick to the plan. Can you imagine-a “nutrition” plan that discourages exercise?
3:25 And even if you bring a granola bar or something, cuz no shame packing some easy airport snacks, you can probably find a cheaper tastier selection at Costco or the grocery store, that’s got the same nutritional value.
The ball and chain for all optavia victims. I feel so sad that they must feel so scared to not have the company nearby. This is proof that what they are being taught isn't teaching them to make better choices and live healthy lives. They aren't learning how to take care of their bodies they are simply being trained to rely on the products and "leadership" in order to be okay. What a horrible thing to do to people
Perhaps her behavior is reflective of being in an MLM, but to me it sounds fearful of food outside of her routine. I know I packed all of my low-calorie foods with me traveling when I was deep in unhealthy eating patterns
It's a little of both. I was never going to join an MLM but I did sit in on a some kind of lesson or some kind of call for optavia to educate myself on what these people were doing because there were several optavia people in my circle. They had a brief lesson from their healthy habits thing and then had testimonials. The people who shared their story were so afraid of food it was really really sad. They talked about struggling with not eating an entire bag of Oreos or something in the past so they had some eating problems. But now they were so afraid to eat something decadent because they were afraid they would just keep eating it and would lose control. And then add the MLM part to that and they have to take the pictures of everything
@@joyfuljaj really sad and it makes sense that both things would be activated under the circumstances both an unhealthy relationship with food and obsessive drive centered on the mlm
Oh, honey, in most places, it's so much easier to grab fresh fruit and veg, freshly made bread and cheese, etc.! I promise you, you will find delicious and fresh food in abundance in Europe. How sad to be travelling to be exposed to other cultures and choosing to eat nothing from those cultures!
Look there's nothing necessarily wrong with heavily processed food. It's the only option for many people for a variety of reasons. From sensory issues to scarcity of fresh whole foods. Any food made by human hands, from your neighbor 's Ultra organic sourdough to a Reese's cup is processed. However, this company not only promotes disordered eating but makes customers spend an obscene amount of money on it.
I don't know if MLM people even realise how tacky those pics are, lol. You can sense the desperation. The feeling you experience is probably "Fremdscham" in German, feeling embarrassed for someone else :D
6:46 yes I always felt that I had to be a walking billboard every where I went. It’s exhausting and you can’t be present. I’m present in my life now and it’s so nice to be off on the weekends and not work my mlm business
Somewhat irrelevant, but your comment about the ways cults make their victims terrified of being without the cult’s chief “apparatus” (whether it’s food, shampoo, or the guidance of the leader) helped me to understand why it was so hard for me to step into independence after growing up with a narcissistic father who ran our family. . . well, like a cult. (He was in charge, he knew everything, he was always right; my mom and I were idiots, incompetent, and only accepted when we did whatever he insisted we do). Your self-awareness and insight, Julie, can illuminate more than MLMs. Thanks. Any other viewers here with experience of narcissistic abuse, I wonder if you agree?
OMG those pix are the stupidest. Who would be so brainwashed as to think this didn't look ridiculous? To think that this would sell more bars? WTF. Furthermore, if you're into bars (which I kinda am) these are pricey and not that healthy and I just wonder why why why......
They look so similar and are so context free I think they must be from some planned Optiavia marketing campaign “Take a picture of your Fuelings on the go with the hashtag #….” Optiavia’s request to use the picture shows how oblivious they are to the negative light this marketing puts the product in “Using our products is so intrusive to your lifestyle that it will mess with your Christmas’s morning!” Unless that request is for some messed up MLM brain washing psychology that I am too normal to understand….
I went on a cruise last month and someone on my bus to the ship had huge scentsy luggage. I am pretty sure no scentsy products can be used on a cruise though, so I have no clue what she hoped to achieve. Thankfully I did not see her again.
If it wasn't different products I would assume that was just their emotional support optavia going with them everywhere, like a favorite blanket or a teddy. (Nothing wrong with bringing an emotional support item btw)
The amount of brainwashing is just mind-numbing! If I was her spouse, I would have put my foot down & would have forbid her to bring those trashy products on their vacation.
The first lady packing all those "fuelings" is just bizarre in a sad way. And yes, great idea putting an unlabeled baggie of odd powder into your luggage. I am sure the TSA agent is going to love her attempt to upsell them when they pinged her for potential drug smuggling. Also, is it me or are all those product pictures just done by the person taking them? I know these huns tend to be in relationships, but they can't even have their partners take a picture of them posing with the bar or vice versa. These inages never show more than just their hand or feet in these. There aren't any distinct signs of real *people*in those images. They aren't even present in their own pictures! Either it's just a disembodied hand or, if there are other people they're indistinct blobs in the background. The beach ones even look as if the rep is blocking out the people in favor of showing their overpriced snack bar!
I am NOT influenced to buy Optavia products when I see them like this! I do watch a lot of Arbonne Huns and I have to say, they make that fizz and protein drinks look tasty - there’s the glass jars and the ice cubes. I have never bought any, but damn I get thirsty watching them slurp that fizz. 😂
Oh yeah. He coached Ray Higdon who in turn coached everyone who was in Rank Makers, so many videos were made with Ray sharing his notes. I had no idea at the time that Grant was a Scientologist. When I exited MLM, I learned how much of Rank Makers training was founded upon Scientology/Landmark Forum nonsense. Grant endorses MLM, insulting anyone who disagrees. He's a repulsive and petty man.
it makes my blood boil that shes like "ima go travel to wonderful cool places and not eat the local food, and eat the crappy fuelings instead". i have celiac disease, i cannot eat ANY gluten, not even cross contamination. if the dish that a gluten free meal is on has touched gluten and hasn't been or isnt able to be thoroughly deglutened properly, even if it goes thru the dishwasher or whatever, theres a good chance i could become ill as my body attacks itself. i have had a dream since forever of traveling to europe, and now those dreams are shot because i literally actually CANT eat most of the local food safely, as i need to have a kitchen with my own pots and pans and knives with gluten free ingredients etc so i don't suffer. the fact taht she probably CAN eat the local food, but chooses not to bc its not just like at home makes me so mad. because i CAN'T eat the local food, even though i really really want to, because my body will start attacking its own healthy tissue if I do.
also, the feeling you describe of feeling like something awful and devastating will happen if you dont have your mlm products is *eerily* reminiscent of my feelings about leaving my emotionally abusive and manipulative father's home. i felt for a very long time and even still sometimes like if i go no contact and entirely leave my father behind (which is what my therapist seemed to be pushing me towards, i said no to NC but did move out of state for a bit) my life will be over and ill die or become homeless or get some horrible disease or my already fragile mental health will fail and ill be stranded and broke and be entirely helpless. it just goes to show its all just straight manipulation and gaslighting and abusive behaviour.
My spicy chicken burger and fries are less processed than this food and both came from my freezer. Oh! And I slap on some Kraft cheese on the sandwich as well. Still actual food.
Is there a subtle message of "Optavia paid for a trip to Europe and other places" and "I have time freedom and finances to go to the beach" ? Side note you remeind me of Julia the AT&T operator.
15:05 Optavia responded to the post asking if they could feature it in their marketing campaigns. No mention of rights, restrictions or compensation so that pic can be used anywhere, for anything and for free in perpetuity. So shady
Love your content julie, your a very kind lady but you shouldnt blurr there faces anyways, they need to see and hear wat you have to say, and i know theres people that dont realise there scamming people but most of them do, when ur in long enough you see it for wat it is and they get out like you did, or they just keep scamming and knowingly do it
Last comment sorry. But i would think if it is a weight loss MLM would not pics of yourself in the European backgrounds be more of an effective marketing tool? To say I was overweight but now I can hike to the colosseum or whatever? You are right..just a picture of the product and not the RESULTS of the product are terrible marketing! It shows that it overwhelms your life like a sinister co character in everything you do. I would NOT join as a Gen Xer.. I like spontaneity and freedom do do what I want when I want especially on a European vacay!

Side note, but that capybara lamp is unreasonably cute. What a bright lil guy 😌
🥰
He's living life on the edge. :D
She's going to eat MLM-brownies when the bakeries of Europe await her? 😂
I would show my fuelings at the movies, on vacation, at the nail place, etc. I was so brainwashed and had no idea I was alienating myself from people in my life because of this cult.
You walk around so much in most european cities i can't imagine being able to do that on that tiny caloric alottment.
"Processed food is bad" - packs ultra processed products 😂😂😂😂
Nothing says natural like sugar free syrup and protein powder 😂
Can't wait for my next vacation, where I will proudly feature a High Altitude Potato in every photo!
🤣🥔
Nothing but Potatoes in my suitcase 🫢
GO HAP! GO HAP! GO HAP!
NASA photo: "Optavia: it should be out of this world!" 😂

Totally! A huge priority when I travel is trying new foods, new food-related experiences, all of that!
The Gen X slow simmer! 🤣 I do it too!!

Oh, there's angewiedert, kotzübel, angeekelt...
Love the kitty cat making an appearance ❤ black cats are awesome 🐈⬛
I could personally NOT imagine paying that much money to go to Europe and not have the local food. That's just so sad.
Yeah. Like it's one thing if you have to be on a specific diet, But if it's available to you, trying local food is one of the joys of traveling
Also, paying to check that suitcase!! $$$$
Ohhh, i love the random cactii facts! Never knew any of that, thankyou!
The suitcase full of fuelings is making me relive my ED. Any occasion where I didn’t have control over what food was available was terrifying.

No, I did not know that about cacti! Thank you, Julie!❤

"Hunbot" sent me 😂😂😂
Ugh, I think the Optavia photo with the basball bat actually looks like a good marketing photo but they choose the family one? WTH?
If Im going to Europe, you better believe Im going to eat their food!!!
Wow. Back when I traveled internationally, I ate whole foods. Oddly enough, there were plenty of REAL food in other countries.
