you so should have put the word 'pregnant' in the thumbnail. that should just be a thing now; every time you make a video with Hazel you put 'pregnant' somewhere.
Dan is such a wise, kind, genuine soul that I've only just started watching but I know must be an amazing friend. Those who have the honor of having him as a friend, cherish him, because he's a keeper.
I really enjoyed reading the time travellers wife too ! BUT WHO ACTUALLY SAYS DAD AND MUM ? It's always mum and dad, it's like brother and sister or knife and fork.. YOU CAN'T SAY IT THE OTHER WAY ROUND. 😂
idk how people manage to do the "abandon the book if you don't like it" thing, when i start reading something i just have to finish it i've never stopped reading mid-read
You and my grandmother have that in common. One time, she was near growling, trying to get through this book. She hated it so much. As soon as she was done reading it, she threw it violently into the trash. When I pointed out we could have donated it, she said no one should have to make the same mistake as her. When I brought up recycling, she said again, no. This was such a bad experience for her that she it needed to be trashed. As someone who can definitely abandon things that upset me I found it so bizarre.
*SPOILERS FOR 'WE WERE LIARS' LOL* Thank god for my awful memory! I've watched this video countless times. A couple weeks ago I read We Were Liars because everyone said the twist was amazing, and I thought it was great too! Sobbed my eyes out, in fact. Imagine my surprise when I click on this video and hear Hazel spoiling the shit out of it! I remember her talking about a book where it was obvious some people died, but I didn't remember the name of the book and I just never connected the dots!
I'm actually really proud of you Daniel. You were able to make a video every single day to entertain us (which you're doing really well👌), even on the days you didnt really have anything to post/say. Tomorrow will be kind of bittersweet, but I've really enjoyed Veda so far. Thank you. And remember, be a good egg! 🥚
i haven't read a book since summer ended so...eight months? i'm either working, studying or sleeping (or faffing about not doing my homework but also not reading). i've finally dropped calculus though, so i've picked up a book to read this morning! down with math!! sorry if you love math
Dan, We're all very proud. Actually, I am seriously proud. Been watching for a while and I think you're great. I am very impressed with people keeping up with VEDA. I did it last year (or the year before... yeah that) and only on weekdays and it is SO hard. definitely taught me a lot though. on a side note, HOW is sleepy jetlagged Hazel so darn GORGEOUS?
Gerald Durrel "My family and other animals" had me rolling on the ground if anyone is looking for a good read. Also being spoiled by Dan with VEDA and bullied by Hazel is now my favourite thing :))
Dan, an excellent video! You don't need Hazel (Hazel I love you!). When talking about Foley is Good, I couldn't stop nodding my head and have now found my own hardback to re-read again. You have done amazingly well during VEDA and I hope you don't regret doing TH-cam "full-time", I hope you enjoy every minute of it. I'm looking forward to your videos in the near future. Best wishes, Adam
I wouldn't say I'm "proud" of Dan for making doing VEDA because I do not know him beyond a Content Creator, and I am not a TH-camr to compare the amount of work that goes into these videos to, as much as I am super happy he puts a video up everyday and I get a few minutes of absolute enjoyment. And I hate him: Not even a little bit. I am sad they are ending.
I first read it one Christmas while I was home from uni. I didn't have a bath at uni, so I had two or three baths a week and it was my bathtime reading treat. LOVE IT.
My fav book is A Thousand Splendid Suns, it's sooooo good and heartbreaking and beautiful and the characters are incredible and its really interesting to get an insight into life in Afghanistan
You should read The Burn Journals, it's the true story of a 14 year old boy who set himself on fire as a suicide attempt but failed and the rest of the book is his recovery, both mentally and physically. I read it on a school trip and cried and made my teacher very concerned.
Guilty of having Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as my favourite book. Even though I've read a shit tonne of other books in my life, I find that I keep coming back to that.
I adore the title of this video. It shows how perfectly you just roll with the motions Dan. Looking forward to a live stream (if that's actually going to be a thing?)!
My favourite book is 'We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves' by Karen Joy Fowler, but I've never met anyone who has read it which breaks my bloody heart
I love books and Dan and Hazel and VEDA and aw man, this video was so good. My favourite books are Dracula, We Have Always Lived In The Castle, Mists of Avalon and omg Carrie Fisher's biography. Princess Diarist ruined me in the best way possible.
yes, on the hundred page thing! I used to have to finish everything I read, and then I realized... there are too many books I want to read to waste any of it on the bad ones. And if I read bad ones, I might miss out on good books.
My favourite book is Frankenstein, Mary Shelly was a bad ass and make science fiction writing take off. Walk the lines is going on my long list, would be interesting to read while commuting through London! Thanks for the recommendation!
I ACTUALLY SQUAKED WHEN YOU MENTIONED TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE HOLY SHIT it's my favourite book in the entire world, i love it so so so much, but i never ever see anyone talking about it aahhh oh my gooodddd and yeah the film sucks i was so mad when i saw it i cried
I have the exact same rule of waiting 100 pages before putting the book aside if it's a bit shit. I used to feel so guilty about not finishing a book when I was younger
my favourite book is a wrinkle in time by madeline l'engle. it was one of the first books i ever read and the world and imagination it opened up for me has stuck with me for more than 20 years. it's a simple read but i love that book for reasons i can't explain.
I love reading, and every Christmas I get given at least 30 new novels. It's just because I'm studying English Literature, I have to read and constantly re-read _The Great Gatsby_ (Alright, but then I'm not to keen on that time period), _The Winter's Tale_ (Alright, but not Shakespeare's greatest play, especially considering as he plagiarised it from Robert Greene), and then fucking _Wuthering Heights_ that's literally the worst novel I've ever had to try and force myself to read, and also just tons of poems. I just can't read what I want to read right no, which sucks.
Just read 'Nod' and 'Handling the Undead' and they were both great. I'm on a bit of a sci f/ fantasy binge as I'm 50k words deep into writing my own fantasy book. The Darren Shan series is my all time favorite.
Top three favourite books: 1.All Quiet on the Western Front 2. I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings 3. In Order to Live Honourable mention: anything by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Oh, and books. lately I've been working through the Mc names of the fantasy shelves at the library or my quest for new authors and I have discovered Patricia A McKillip who is OUTSTANDING. currently reading Fiona McIntosh who is lovely as well. Also recently finished The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton and it was an immense book but the prose was so amazing it pulled me right into it and i finished it in days.
I have an eclectic collection of favourite books (not including series, like Narnia or Agatha Christie, which are two of my all time faves) -- namely My Side of the Mountain, Seven Little Australians and The Hobbit. They're the ones I've read over, and over and over, mostly for sentimental reasons. However, one of the BEST books I've ever read -- which is not the same thing as favourite -- is Catch 22. I definitely recommend it. It's one of the only books that has made me cry (like ugly sobbing)...and I have read a LOT of books. :) :) I'll have to check out your recommendations, Dan!
i agree 110% about We were liars hazel!! i had to force myself to finish it and now i hardly remember the book because it was such a nothing experience for me. i also hate the book me, earl and the dying girl with a passion.
Leaving out Harry Potter, because as Hazel and Dan said, they are just obvious. Three fav books, City of Bones (super original, I know). Magic Under Glass by Jaclyn Dalamore. Such a beautiful book, but it didn't do well so only got two books out of the trilogy the author was intending. And Moon Over SoHo by Ben Aaronovitch, used to write for Old Who. Middle book in the series, best one so far.
Apparently Helen Fielding based the character of Mr Darcy off Labour MP Keir Starmer and are quite good friends which is just an amazing story and also is another reason why he is a fantastic man.
i'm so sad hazel hates we were liars because i literally loved that book :') but oh well interresting choice of favourite books as well! haven't read any of them myself but i like the variety and walk the line sounds interesting :)
I'm the kind of person that has always been determined to finish books once i start them even if i leave them for a couple months i'll eventually come back to finish it. The only book i absolutely couldn't was ulysses
WTF I LOVED WE WERE LIARS

The second you started this with "here's the craic" you basically summoned the Irish person
Pretty much.
charlotte ! See a statement like that would warrant you the label "minus craic" I'm afraid...
Hazel Stay(e)s
+Chloe Curtis Nice.
HAHAHAHA. HARRY POTTERRRRR
side note, hazel looks so dewy and beautiful and glowy bless her being productive and talented is good for the soul
hahaa, my side note was the same. she just gets more lovely
you so should have put the word 'pregnant' in the thumbnail. that should just be a thing now; every time you make a video with Hazel you put 'pregnant' somewhere.
+Baveeta Sehjal I might change it later...
Baveeta Sehjal no, when ever you make a video with anyone just put the word pregnant in the thumbnail or somewhere in the video.
Baveeta Sehjal still hasn't changed it....
I'm so sad this is going to be over tomorrow.
also, hazel I love you. (And you Dan).
tomorrow's video will be dan announcing his pregnancy i'm calling it right now
i'm leaving a comment to let you know that i'm very proud of dan and i don't hate him even a little bit
Congrats on the baby Dan
"don't bully my audience"
"they love it"
quote of the year
Dan is such a wise, kind, genuine soul that I've only just started watching but I know must be an amazing friend. Those who have the honor of having him as a friend, cherish him, because he's a keeper.
YESSS my favorite humans.
I have equal feelings of pride and hatred towards you, Dan
I really enjoyed reading the time travellers wife too !
BUT WHO ACTUALLY SAYS DAD AND MUM ? It's always mum and dad, it's like brother and sister or knife and fork.. YOU CAN'T SAY IT THE OTHER WAY ROUND. 😂
+Rosie Rosado My dad does so THERE
VEDA has been amazing Dan! Your videos are so candid and genuinely engaging, I have enjoyed every single one.
idk how people manage to do the "abandon the book if you don't like it" thing, when i start reading something i just have to finish it i've never stopped reading mid-read

Oh my god i love the time travelers wife
*SPOILERS FOR 'WE WERE LIARS' LOL*

'don't bully my channel'
..
'they love it'
im already sad veda is ending
plus books are life!
i haven't read a book since summer ended so...eight months? i'm either working, studying or sleeping (or faffing about not doing my homework but also not reading). i've finally dropped calculus though, so i've picked up a book to read this morning! down with math!! sorry if you love math
toots thats alright, as a math geek, i feel like people who like math even dislike it in some way if that even makes sense
I.LOVE.HAZEL.HAYES.
AND MY FAVORITE PERSON TO SEE HAZEL WITH IS DAN SO THIS IS THE BEST
I ALSO LOVE DAN FOR THE RECORD
DON'T SHOUT PLEASE I'M SENSITIVE
SORRY
We Were Liars was one of the best YA books I've ever read. But to each their own.
Is it bad that I've been keeping track of what day it is solely by this VEDA and now won't know what day it is till someone does Vlogmas?
I bloody love Hazel. also you. also the two of you together. much enjoyment!
1. I LOVE when you talk about books
2. Collabs are indeed better
3. I'm going to miss your VEDA
Gerald Durrel "My family and other animals" had me rolling on the ground if anyone is looking for a good read.
Also being spoiled by Dan with VEDA and bullied by Hazel is now my favourite thing :))
I love jetlagged Hazel, she's so hyper lol
Dan, an excellent video! You don't need Hazel (Hazel I love you!). When talking about Foley is Good, I couldn't stop nodding my head and have now found my own hardback to re-read again. You have done amazingly well during VEDA and I hope you don't regret doing TH-cam "full-time", I hope you enjoy every minute of it. I'm looking forward to your videos in the near future. Best wishes, Adam
I'm delighted someone else has East of Eden on their list of favorite books. I recommend everyone read that book, it's just incredible.
I'm waiting for VEDA 30, and I don't want it to be over.
Yay! Hazel!
We don't hate you Hazel!!!! P.S. My favorite book is Harry Potter. I do also quite like 1984 by George Orwell
I'm so relieved that I'm not the only one who hated we were liars
I wouldn't say I'm "proud" of Dan for making doing VEDA because I do not know him beyond a Content Creator, and I am not a TH-camr to compare the amount of work that goes into these videos to, as much as I am super happy he puts a video up everyday and I get a few minutes of absolute enjoyment.
And I hate him: Not even a little bit.
I am sad they are ending.
Murder on the Orient Express!!! I'm so happy whenever someone mentions Agatha Christie :)
I first read it one Christmas while I was home from uni. I didn't have a bath at uni, so I had two or three baths a week and it was my bathtime reading treat. LOVE IT.
Ahh I'm so happy you replied! And yes, it's definitely a treat to read - goes perfectly with hot chocolate and a cozy blanket for me :)
Honestly we were liars is a banger
Currently reading The Handmaid's Tale, highly recommend. (Also jetlagged, 5 hour work call Hazel still looks like an absolute ANGEL)
Hazel's right. We love it.
Or at least some of do.
oh man i loved we were liars
You two are like the ultimate duo I love it
My fav book is A Thousand Splendid Suns, it's sooooo good and heartbreaking and beautiful and the characters are incredible and its really interesting to get an insight into life in Afghanistan
A British person used the word craic?? Did you get it from Hazel??
Lola Coady it's fairly common in Cumbria/Newcastle 😊
Micha Stuart Oh that's good to know! As a dubliner I use it every conversation. I didn't think British people used it
I have a whole channel about books but i love it when a channel like yours does a video about books :)
I'm glad Hazel was there because I also would've been confused about Walk The Line.
Pleaaase do a livestream for the last VEDA!!
You can tell that Dan and Hazel spend a lot of time together bc he said 'here's the craic'
I can't believe this is going to be over tomorrow ;( :(
I adore the title of this video. It shows how perfectly you just roll with the motions Dan. Looking forward to a live stream (if that's actually going to be a thing?)!
I really want it to be!
My favourite book is 'We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves' by Karen Joy Fowler, but I've never met anyone who has read it which breaks my bloody heart
We were very behind that at Waterstones. Great book!
I don't want VEDA to end!
HazelStays .. Another great video Dan! Books are for winners.
...we were liars is actually my favorite book... but i still love hazel lol
i'm only watching this video, because of hazel, she is just so fine and naturally funny.
I love books and Dan and Hazel and VEDA and aw man, this video was so good. My favourite books are Dracula, We Have Always Lived In The Castle, Mists of Avalon and omg Carrie Fisher's biography. Princess Diarist ruined me in the best way possible.
Hazel's Irishness is catching "Here's the craic"
THE BEST SORT OF COLLAB!!
i'd love to see more videos about your books!
I love Dan's hair
Just moved to London from Sydney so I took your advice and bought myself a copy of Walk the Lines (from Waterstones, obvs), keen to read it
yes, on the hundred page thing!
I ACTUALLY SQUAKED WHEN YOU MENTIONED TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE HOLY SHIT
it's my favourite book in the entire world, i love it so so so much, but i never ever see anyone talking about it aahhh oh my gooodddd
and yeah the film sucks i was so mad when i saw it i cried
my fave book is Fifth Business by Robertson Davies. It's very strange but just so good when all the mystery unravels.
I have the exact same rule of waiting 100 pages before putting the book aside if it's a bit shit. I used to feel so guilty about not finishing a book when I was younger
The best VEDA ever!!
THE TIME TRAVELLERS WIFE IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE BOOKS EVER WRITTEN! I would definitely recommend :))))
can't believe it's nearly the end. love ya babe!
Was that a singstar mic? 😂
my favourite book is the night circus just so magical and amazing 👌🏻👌🏻
HAZEL I LOVE YOU

Just read 'Nod' and 'Handling the Undead' and they were both great. I'm on a bit of a sci f/ fantasy binge as I'm 50k words deep into writing my own fantasy book. The Darren Shan series is my all time favorite.
So proud of you Dan! I have just started to tune in lately and I thought you'd fail at Veda like everyone else but you didn't and that's great :)
Thank you for coming along =)
Top three favourite books:
1.All Quiet on the Western Front
2. I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings
3. In Order to Live
Honourable mention: anything by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Great content. Keep it up!
Whaaaat I loved We Were Liars (also I didn't find the "big reveal" that predictable, but maybe I'm just not that perceptive lol)
HATE DAN SO MUCH!!!
(Seriously though, proud as heck, well done Dan 💕)
Oh, and books. lately I've been working through the Mc names of the fantasy shelves at the library or my quest for new authors and I have discovered Patricia A McKillip who is OUTSTANDING.

Damn and I forgot to add the Magic Pudding! That's also such a great one.
I hate dan 0, because this is the best VEDA I've ever seen, you rock dude
i agree 110% about We were liars hazel!! i had to force myself to finish it and now i hardly remember the book because it was such a nothing experience for me. i also hate the book me, earl and the dying girl with a passion.
Read One Hundred Years of Solitude! It's my favourite book ever ever ever!
I've watched the ending of this video at least 5 times- sad this is ending tomorrow!
my favourite book is the never ending story. you should definitely read it, it's sooo good
dan, first I found out you like chess and now murder on the orient express. you really are a complete BABE ! pls continue being you xo
Leaving out Harry Potter, because as Hazel and Dan said, they are just obvious. Three fav books, City of Bones (super original, I know). Magic Under Glass by Jaclyn Dalamore. 😂 brilliant, absolutely brilliant ❤️❤️
i'm so sad hazel hates we were liars because i literally loved that book :') but oh well
interresting choice of favourite books as well! haven't read any of them myself but i like the variety and walk the line sounds interesting :)
'don't bully my channel!' 😂😂
I love Dan!
I'm the kind of person that has always been determined to finish books once i start them even if i leave them for a couple months i'll eventually come back to finish it. The only book i absolutely couldn't was ulysses
