A solstice is an event occurring when the Sun appears to reach its most northerly or southerly excursion relative to the celestial equator on the celestial sphere. Two solstices occur annually, around June 21 and December 21. In many countries, the seasons of the year are determined by reference to the solstices and the equinoxes.

This is perhaps the most beautiful sobg on this channel so far..we also celebrate solstices and the equinoxes in Iran: the winter solstices called "The Yalda night" and the spring equinoxes called "Norooz" or the new year celebration.

Auch wir feiern die Sonnenwende, im Winter als Julnacht und im Sommer als Mitsommer.
Insgesamt haben wir 8 sogenannte Feuerfeste, ähnlich der keltisch - germanischen Tradition.

Leider hat ja das Christentum über die Julnacht/Wintersonnenwendfeier am 22. Dezember oder auch Mütternacht genannt, die heilige Nacht gestülpt und ein künstliches Konsumfest mit den weihnachtlichen Bräuchen draus gemacht. Ich feier jedoch Weihnachten seit 4 Jahren nicht mehr. ❤🎉❤🎉

I know, I am German living in US in a state where there is no German presence and people were taught not to like us. I once lived in Texas, there in the Hill Country it was different and in the German Belt I hear it is better also. I wish, i would know someone like you; I am old and know many songs, ballads, sagas, and nobody wants to learn them; I taught English and American history and literature for many years, but there is not much interest in that either. We are all systematically being stripped of our culture. But I keep singing and yodeling outside in my yard, in the fields and forests, sometimes I actually get a little applause. I have a small city near me called "Gretna" that celebrates it's German heritage and I go there for their festivals. There is even a museum and website for it if you are curious. Never abandon your beautiful traditions.

In Bavaria, we being Catholic, we also call it the Johannisfeuer, and we dance around it and jump over it (custom with young man and woman jumping over together is like being engaged). Also in the Alps it is the most beautiful of all.
I love your channel for German folk songs. Thank you for promoting the culture of this wonderful country. Someday I will go there, I will travel from Berlin to the west. I also condole with the Germans for their sad fate (two world wars, mass isolation, life in poverty and hatred, disgust and contempt from other peoples). It's good that now the disgust is subsiding, but in my country (Russia) the Germans are still looked at with contempt. I hope someday this will end. Wish you all the best!

Auf jeden Fall! Ich bin schon seit frühester Jugend fasziniert von der nordischen Mythologie.Hinzu kommt, dass wir ab der ersten Klasse ein Fach Heimatkunde hatten (ich bin 1969 eingeschult worden),in dem wir die Götterwelt unserer Vorfahren und deren Leben lernten! Natürlich gehörte auch das Kennenlernen der heimischen Flora und Fauna dazu. Das hat uns allen sehr viel Spaß gemacht!
Lustigerweise haben German das so nie gefeiert und nannten sich auch nicht germanisch.

Ich kann mich erinnern als ich ein Kind war als ein älterer Herr während einer spontanen "Mais Brat" (Woaz Brotn) mitten im Feld ein ähnliches Lied mit der Gitarre vorgetragen hat. ... über 20 Jahre her. ( bin am Land aufgewachsen damals konnte man noch freie Feuer legen)
Vielleicht klingts zu politisch aber ich meins nicht in dieser Weise - es is schade dass wir als "alterfahrene" (Böhmische Wurzeln) unsre Wurzeln durch Politik und Gender, Racisim, Allgemeine Idiotie und Newage Humbug unsre Kultur verlieren "sollen".
Bin dankbar das hier wiedergehört zu haben, obwohl mittlerweile jegliche art von verbreitung von "deutscher kultur" global als streng rechts angesehen wird. Klangwort Hatespeech....
