More please! This is a great series. Maybe do a video showing 5 turnarounds in E and 5 in G. Also, maybe a video focusing on playing over the changes with chord tones - landing on the major 3rd on the IV, for example. I love the borrowing from bass stuff, too. In a jamming context that’s hugely helpful, too. Brother Mud often had a guitarist playing bass lines while the bassist held down the root locked with the drummer. Awesome. Thank you. I have an 8 bar Blues that I’d like to see you do a video on for this series. I’d love to see what you’d do with it. If you’re interested, let me know, and I’ll write it out for you and record some ideas. Lastly, I don’t know if you cover this in your course, but something different is found in Oreo Cookie Blues (Lonnie Mack w/ SRV) where instead of descending a full step from the V7 chord to the IV (just before the turnaround) they ascend a half step and return to the V7 before returning home to the I chord. So B7 to C7 back to B7 and home to E in E. It’s just a small thing, but it’s different and adds some color.
I REALLY like your 3 Jam alone videos whereas I play alone at home. These videos are speaking to me since I am not interested in learning songs but just want to be able to noodle around playing different grooves and sound musical. Between 6 and 7 minutes into this video you say a certain lick works only over a G7 chord yet you show how to play that lick up the neck to play it in different keys. Why therefore do you say it only works over a G7 chord? Please do more of these Jam Alone playing on the back porch videos. Craig Ewinger
You are a great teacher. You don't make anything complicated.🤙👍🤙
I LOVE, LOVE your 3 Jam Alone videos. Please do more of them. Craig Ewinger
I know I'm repeating others, but you are an exceptional teacher. Thank you.
I used my Resonator in open G. Used my slide for the licks. Some strings were easy but had use my ear to find them.
Oh boy I really enjoy trying to master these riffs! I'm an old dog but I'm (gradually) learning new tricks thanks to you, Griff!
These Jam alone videos are awesome! No one does these!
