72 and my first garden /grin I am here in NE Texas too and enjoying myself but we will see what grows up. You were very helpful, a good speaker and clear in your content thank you for sharing. I invite you to the poems God has given me throughout my life. He shook me on my death bed in 2019 to share them, it took me a year and that is what the station is. I hope they bless you and you enjoy them. Praise thanks and glory to God in all things forever Amen Love and blessings
I just found you and I'm so happy you are in NE TX as we don't have a huge selection of channels here. Looking forward to seeing more. I'd love to see a cooking video with your squash too!
Awesome!! That was part of the reason why we made the channel haha! Because we couldn’t find many! Thank you for the recommendation, I definitely Will. We love squash
Thank you for this. I’ve been looking for info on growing spaghetti squash and couldn’t find what I needed to know. I tried growing them a few years ago and it didn’t do well at all. Thank you again and God bless
Hi there I just found you today June 24, 2022! I enjoyed learning about harvesting squash! This year I built a branch trellis and let part of it grow on the ground. Love both methods. So beautiful to see how the vines stretch on the ground and attach to the trellises to see hanging squash too. Love your style of explaining! Look forward to binge watching your videos to catch up on my Gardening tips!! So much fun to garden. Greetings from CA. 😊🍉
Yay ty sis, same here hard to find anything but bits abt growing these, thumbs up I'm almost ready for picking, I failed at saving space too 😆 ty for the awesome tips👍
@@tinamariefeliciano2751 Hi! I halved it, scooped out pulp, and cut the skin off whilst the halves were stable, cut side down on chopping board. Then cubed the flesh. HOWEVER I went on to find that the early harvest had not been a problem, as after the first one, the others did make ‘spaghetti’, so they caught up somehow when I just left them for a few weeks. 😀
I love me some spaghetti squash!!! I especially love the variety I grew this year called Angel Hair because they are small personal sized squashes. I’m the only one in the house who likes it so having one that would be just the right size for my dinner was great! It was super prolific too!
You can harvest it anytime after pollination, I actually prefer them green because they taste more like zucchini lol . But if you want to full ripe spaghetti squash, it should take about 45-50 days when the squash is a strong yellow color. Wait as long as you can, before the frost, to get a nice hardened squash for longer storage over winter :)
Yes you were very helpful, I plan on growing this squash this coming season and have never grown it before, You could even make a small mini square frame and the top of it could be made of chicken wire or that little square wire, to help with airation around the squash when they are formed and growing. Thank you for sharing.
Looking for info on supporting the fruit on a trellis..but still i liked the vid.....not sure if we have those bugs in NW Arizona but my plants are off to a good start so i will find out. Thank you for your time
We trellised most of our squash on a trellis last year, if you scroll through our videos, I have one on tromboncino squash being borer resistant, the gourds and squash are hanging on the trellis . Thank you for watching 🌱
I took out spaghetti squash seeds out of freezer a week ago and kept them in the frig during that week... how do you germinate them from here? Still has the meat attached. I'm soaking in a plastic baggie covered in water right now... what next?
I actually do not like it when it’s made into spaghetti haha! When I pick it young and green I use it in many dishes, like breakfast hash, mixed with onions, potatoes, sausage and corn. Dinner casseroles, soups and stews! I just peel, cube or slice!
Thank you! God Bless you as well!
You’re so welcome! We are going to trellis them this year, and make a comparison video!! Super excited
That was very informative. So glad to find openly Christian homesteaders. Thanks and God bless you and your family.
awww thank you :)

Thank you so much Mary! It’s amazing how much we all learn over experience, I feel like each year we learn something new! So glad to have you
Garden looks good. I too had an issue early this season with cucumber beetles, but then it went to spider mites. Now, heat is the biggest threat. LOL.
These bugs are ruthless 😂 but YES the heat 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵 we are touching 100s recently
Good info. Thanks for the video
The garden looks great, keep it up!
Thank you so much

You’re welcome ❤️
Thank you, you’ve told me exactly what I need to know. I harvested them early out of ignorance, so I’ll cube and roast them. 👍😀
How do you cube and roast them? Curious! Thanks😊

Thank you so much
Once the female flower is pollinated how long until the squash is ready to come off the vine? Great video!

we have terrible squash bugs here where we are! I am going to have to try and use some neem oil this year
They truly are terrible! Haha
@@JesusLovingHomesteader yes they are! haha
What kind of oil do you recommend?

I would just put them in the dirt at water :) nothing fancy.
Hi there! Great advice. Thanks so much. When started from seeds is it ok for the plant to flop over into the dirt?
Yes that is completely fine
Hi there. This is a great video. What can you companion planted them with?
Marigolds, nasturtiums and radishes are great companion plants with squash!
👍
I am curious about other than spaghetti, what recipe or how you use spaghetti squash.
