I’m so happy VN has been successful in fighting back the franchise movement that is so prevalent throughout the world. VN should be proud of all their individually owned cafes and dessert shops. They are all so unique in their own ways, with distinct looks/characteristics/vibes. Instagram heaven. The other aspects of these non-franchise self owned shops is the pride in ownership and the customer service that are lacking in corporate franchise where the employees are just that, employees earning minimum wage.
Street food culture is something that cannot be beat in Vietnam. Why do we have to choose a burger when we have Bánh Mì, or choose a fried breaded chicken when we have fried chicken wings with fish sauce or a cup of water with coffee flavor when we have had a strong coffee. we all think like that that's why starbuck, mcdonald, KFC... fail in here. So many food we can eat. Fast food in Vn? in here we have flash food Thanks for your kind words
That’s so great! We wish it was more like this in our own countries, too! Everything is much more independent and different - we like this so much about the Vietnamese culture!

5.30 "Chè trôi nước" or "Water Floting Sweet" is a dish very traditional in VietNam. I think you will get familiar with this dish with the name "Mochi" in Japan. But it still have some different. Mochi in Japan usually goes with red bean, while we usually goes with green bean (the flavour inside). We have some other methods to make it so hope you enjoy it
20:30 The sticky rice yogurt is actually one of the most favorable dessert in Viet Nam. In my opinion, it's even more famous than the egg coffee with local Vietnamese. Together with red bean sweet, the teacher usually treats student before their university exam. It is belived to bring good luck and bless you. I hope to see more of your sticky rice because with the local people, it really our traditional dish. May be you guys will find the taste a little bit weird but I hope you guys like it.

Glad you like our coffee! Vietnamese coffee beans are specifically used because they are ground extremely finely and are robusta beans, meaning they are very strong and a little chocolatey. I use Trung Nguyen Gourmet Blend (the red one) to brew over here in America, and a lot of us also use Cafe Du Monde coffee and chicory blend. The device used to brew is just a simple pour-over drip style device called a Phin which aerates the coffee as it brews, and also brews very strong coffee, as the water moves through the grounds slowly.
Robusta beans are considered inferior in the West and are often used to make instant coffee. In the West Aribica beans are preferred for good quality coffee. Not a criticism, just an observation…😀
@@2Passports1Dream Normally robusta beans are considered the harsher and more acidic bean and Aribica smoother although a lot depends on how they are roasted..No matter, you like what you like,no right or wrongs.Love the channel by the way👍🏻😀

Looking forward to your Vietnam series. My husband and I have Thailand booked in September. However, as long as there are no PCR test required at the airport in Thailand, we hope to also go to Vietnam for a week.
No tofu in Che, mostly use all kind of beans in dessert. The white one is Cassavas or other similar. The red one maybe water chestnut cover in tapioca, the rest I am not sure. Chè trôi nước is stuff with mongbean inside and cook with either brown sugar and ginger. Avacado mostly for dessert in VN such as smoothie drink. By the way, if you can't find cafe sua VN in your country, try Starbuck with this fomular: 2 shots expresso and 2 pumps of white mocha on grande cup with ice. There is some thing in the starbcucks that sting your tounge a litle bit in a good way that you never find anywhere else. Anyway, there are so many kinds of dessert in VN, try as can. Enjoy your trip.
Oh interesting! Thank you for letting us know! Haha I think we will buy some excellent Vietnamese coffee to take back with us (and then just make bac xiu!) 😍☕️
@@2Passports1Dream I would recommend to buy the stainless steel (not aluminum) coffee filter only ...lol.. In US, I mix these two together: Starbucks Sumatra (darker - optional) and Starbucks French Roast (smell good). These two would give you exactly the same as long as you use condensed milk only (2-3 teaspoons) then it will be exactly the same. Or get any good brand French Roast would be fine. Check out how to use Vietnamese coffee filter on youtube, then you would get what you like, very easy and simple. bac xiu stands for more milk than normal ..lol.. where you may try 2 teaspoons of condensed milk and 2 tablespoons of whole milk for a cup of coffee.

Since you like this kind of coffee, try this. With a large tall glass, put two chicken eggs and condense milk. Fill the cup with ice. And finally, pour a bottle of club soda. Mix them together and drink. You will go to bed happy. Let tell you about a couple things. The jelly kind of thing is nothing more than just jelo of southeast asia. The ball with yellow thing inside is tapioca balls with green beans. The brown sugery is probably some kind of palm sugar or sugar cane sugar.
If guys are still in Đà Lạt. I would recommend going to Dã Chiến Hill which has gorgeous coffee shops and restaurants. Early morning coffee and dinner could be great moments to enjoy. For instance " Reply1994 Dalat " coffee shop or " Túi Mơ To Garden Restaurant " .
Gwych - edrych mlaen gymaint at ddilyn eich anturiaethau drwy Fietnam. We only have the one Independent Vietnamese coffee place in Cardiff. I must pop in next week 👍
I love all the cute and unique restaurants/shops in Da Lat!! I need those adorable egg coffee cups with their own warmers in my life now. If you want to drink condensed milk with your coffe at home, make sure you're using a bitter coffee to counter/contrast it (Viets in the US were using Cafe du Monde from New Orleans for decades when they couldn't get Viet coffee, but now they can order Trung Nguyen brand coffee on Amazon along with the phin filter). BTW, when you see the letters tr together, just pronounce it like the letter j. Switch the t and th sounds as they're opposite in Vietnamese. :)
18:20 I love that sweet dog. I guess it really loved you guys. Thank you for sharing the Vietnamese desserts. I had tried the glutinous rice ball dessert (chè), too, but didn't like the syrup very much. It's oftentimes too sweet for me, however, the saltiness of the filling inside the ball kind of balances out the sweetness of the syrup a bit, which makes it taste a bit better.

Thank you so much, we hope you’ll like them! 🤗😍 We also hope that you can return soon again 🇻🇳😍
Wow that sounds super interesting!!
Your Vietnamese accent is good
Wow thank you!! 🤗
welcome to Vietnam wish you a pleasant trip 😇👍
Thank you so much 🤗🇻🇳

DaLat is also known by locals as the Flowers City. Popular honeymoon destination. You should do some sightseeings.

Thanks so much! 😍🤗 it’s so amazing that more countries are starting to open up again!
Thank you so much for the recommendations! 😍🤗
If you are still in Da Lat, please visit Crazy House in Da Lat, I believe you will have an interesting experience.

3:46 The thing you call Tofu actually almond jelly in Vietnam. I don't know how to say it in English so I can just direct translate it.
It's called almond tofu in english so she is actually correct
Wow no way!! I’ve never heard of that 😅😍 it was tasty!! Thank you.
@@2Passports1Dream Actually it's made from gelatin (not agar, u guys right) and almond, vanilla, milk, so it's a jelly piece, not tofu.
Các bạn làm video hay lắm. Chúc 2 bạn sức khoẻ dồi dào để khám phá nhiều điều thú vị nữa về việt nam!
Thank you so much 🤗😍

You guys are doing great for the Vietnamese pronunciation.
Thank you so much!! 🤗🤗
The deserts looked delicious; I can't wait to visit Vietnam.
So awesome!! Hope you have a great time!
Oh awesome!! I don’t blame them - the Vietnamese coffee is the best we’ve ever tasted 😍☕️ haha oops, we need to work on our pronunciations! 😅
It was such a cute dog!
That sneeze!!! 😂😂
Hahaha it was INTENSE, wasn’t it? 😂
Hơi mất lịch sự nhưng đó mới là VN 😂😂
