I struggled with cooking omena for so long kwanza my first trial cats flocked the windows. I tried all remedies as advised by my sisters from the lake side but wapi?! Until one day i walked into Naivas Supermarket and found the prepacked fried Omena! This was God sent i have never looked back!!! Like kawaida fish make the sauce then add them in. For the pumkin leaves, there is a recipe Kaluhi's kitchen did on YT i followed it and since then, they are bearable to eat.

I think the children did well however I think you should have done white ugali, rice or even chapati with Omena so that they try to be known with the unknown. Secondly, you could do the same with brown ugali
