- Reform UK's Ben Habib says all long marches "start with a single step", as Nigel Farage announces he will run in the general election.
"It's not showing up in the polls... something seismic is happening. The vast majority of people are sick of all of the above parties!"
Nigel Farage said he wants to lead a “political revolt” against the Conservatives and Labour after announcing he will seek to become an MP at the General Election.
Mr Farage will contest Clacton, in Essex, after it was also announced that he will take over as leader of Reform UK from Richard Tice.
The former MEP had spent several days making clear he would not make an eighth bid to become an MP and instead would support Reform by campaigning across the country.
But Mr Farage, who has failed in his previous seven attempts to be elected to the Commons, said he had felt a “terrible sense of guilt” over the weekend and decided to make a U-turn.

Reform is the new Tory Party. Their stock is going up and the Conservatives down. A lot of staunch Conservatives will switch. I’m one as I feel let down by the Conservatives. I voted for Boris and got sickly sweet Sunak and that other useless woman who became PM for a few hours. We need a leader with personality and bold ideas, who is not afraid to stand up for them. Of course labour wants that. But voting reform won’t help. And don’t like any of the parties. But I think I would sooner have a mainstream party standing against labour. I’m going to see our reform do this time. If they knock one of the big parties of there position. Then next time I would look into them. Around 60% of people didn't bother to vote in the recent local and by elections, the first party to fire the imagination of a sizeable chunk of those could dominate politics for the foreseeable future.
I have only ever voted Conservative, but just told the candidate who knocked at my door that I am sick of the Tory party lies and will be voting Reform.
I want our country to return to some semblance of sanity & order. Can that happen with Reform? We have to hope so because if not we are screwed.
