The King of Swords in the Surrealist tarot is actually meant to be Luis Buñuel, a Surrealist filmmaker! The image of the eye being held open against the razorblade is actually a direct reference to a scene in the Surrealist film “Un Chien Andalou”, which was co-written by Buñuel and Dalí. The Queen of Swords is the French actress Musidora, most famously known for her role as Irma Vep in a silent film called Les Vampires 🦇🩸 I think I’ve identified all the court cards except for the King of Wands, the Page of Cups and the Page of Pentacles. Love the Surrealist tarot, I think it would serve really well to work with spirits and angels (the weird and scary intimidating kind, not the fluffy ones lol). Love all your collection videos! 🌈🌺
Omg THANK YOU for these amazing references you’re a star 🙌❤️I have learnt something and I’m off to go into rabbit holes hehe 🕳️ so interesting thank you for sharing that with me ❤️💖😘
My BOS deck is the Tarot of the Abyss. Literally every single walk through I see of it I think it's so beautiful and I'm like "go get it out and try it again!" but it's just a lump of nothing in my hand. Like if it disturbed me at least that would be SOMETHING but it just has absolutely nothing to say to me whatsoever. I hang on to it thinking one day our time will come but so far it just sits in my drawer.
Hi there. It is literally my favorite deck at the moment 😅 It took me a couple of weeks to get it but now it is the one I find the most reliable. For me it is a Swords deck, not one to sugarcoat things. And the people in it feels so real, I mean, it is beautiful. I hope you grow to like it but then not everyone is going to connect with every deck. All best😊
I have never gotten it because I usually prefer colourful decks and I worry it would be the same for me like super beautiful but I don’t know if it would speak to me. I love the tarot Arthurian by the same creator though with all the colors it reads like a dream for me ☺️that’s what I love about tarot there is something for everyone out there we are lucky to have so many choices 🤩
I have the Surrealist Tarot and I really like it. It comes out for me when I want to do dream work and I want purely intuitive readings. My dreamscapes are often fragmented images, words, phrases that don't necessarily have a cohesiveness to them. The Surrealist helps me connect the dots. Animal Totem was one of my first decks. My niece fell in love with it when I pulled it out to use for a reading for her, I gave it to her. I'm happy she has it and I miss it. So it is on my wishlist to repurchase. I just pulled out my Tabula Mundi Tarot, and my Ink Witch tarot, which I have neglected in 2023-synchronicities abound lol.(as far as pulling out decks not used)
Perfect timing for overlooked decks 🙌oh great idea for the surrealist tarot and dream work I will give that a shot. I have very vivid dreams so it will be interesting to see if it can speak to that. Thank you so much for sharing 💖🤗
I've been on the fence about that Literary Tarot - it should be right up my alley, and it looks beautiful. But then you mentioned the suits - I think that's why I wrote it off before. I have a beautiful Kickstarter deck called the Lantern Guide Tarot. On the guide sheet for the deck, she links Birds with Wands, Lanterns with Cups, Trees with Swords and Dwellers (various animals) with Pentacles. OMG Lanterns should be Wands and Birds (air) should be Swords, and it makes my stomach turn flip-flops! Fortunately, the minors are all really impressionistic and there's nothing in the imagery that ties them to traditional/RWS meanings, so I just use my own attributions for the suits and read the imagery intuitively...So for the Literary Tarot, are the images and attributed stories close to traditional RWS, or are they their own thing?
Stomach turning flip flop haha I had never heard that expression but I LOVE IT 🤣that is an extremely accurate description of how it feels to me anytime I have to do brain math to figure out suits when creators have changed from the traditional ones 😁For the Literary tarot I think 60 to 70% of the cards do follow a more “traditional” imagery so it depends on the cards you pull. Like the 3 of light gives clearly a 3 of cups vibes but some of them I find myself confused if I don’t remember which suit is which. Court cards especially a little tricky but I’m hoping by using it more it gets engraved in my brain 🤪Thank you for watching 💖💖
I agree, the AnimalTotem tarot can be overwhelming. I most often use it like an oracle deck with another tarot deck. It feels like I get the most out of the animal medicine that way.
Coucou Marine, if I was a tarot deck, I would love to live with you, because I would know that my moment would come sooner or later 😄! I loved what you said about the Somnia tarot, and Freud would have a lot to say about the way you named it "spolia tarot" as in "to spoil"😄. I could never work with it either, and what you said about it described exactely how I feel about the Ceccoli 😱... J'ai un grand amour pour le tarot maçonnique de Beauchard, I definitely need to get his tarot des alchimistes if possible. Biiig hugs from my quite cold part of the world to you in yours, je dirais pas non à un peu de climat tropical ☀🌴!
Coucou Marina! Merci pour ton commentaire ❤️😘 I think you would love the tarot des alchimistes, un super guidebook pour cosy up if you are in the mood for a bit of a deck study. Ici c’est la canicule dans le genre où des qu’on sort de la douche on transpire déjà 🫠🤣 je t’envoie pleinnnn de soleil et de chaleur tropicale pour réchauffer l’hiver 🌞💖😘
Great video!!!
This was so interesting to watch Marine and has made me think about my own collection and decks I have overlooked. I am going to take out my Before and After Tarot and I am going to re purchase the Animal Totem Tarot. I used to have it but let it go some time ago and I do miss it and seeing yours I have put it on my list to re purchase 🥰💖
Wonderful I’m so happy it made you look at your overlooked decks 😊 I have been loving getting into the animal totem tarot guidebook since filming so I hope you’ll enjoy it if you decide to repurchase it. Thank you so much for watching 💕😘🌞
Your videos are always so interesting, Marine, and I could listen to you talk all day, you're very expressive and articulate. And....I just ordered the After Tarot. I don't think I've ever seen that before your video but what a great idea!
Thank you so much for your wonderful and kind comment 💖🤗ohh I hope you will enjoy the After tarot, I love the new interpretation it’s giving it can really open up readings. Thank you so much for being here I am sending you a big hug your way 🤗🤗
Thank you, Marine, for always introducing me to interesting decks I’ve never seen before (Surrealist Tarot, Le Tarot des Alchimistes). I had also been trying to learn Lenormand for a while and had almost given up when I came across a blog post on how to combine Lenormand with tarot. This was a game changer for me! I do also work with Lenormand by itself but combining the two has given me some really in-depth readings. For example, drawing 3 tarot and 3 Lenormand about the same situation will give me two different perspectives while at the same time teaching me how Lenormand speaks to me about various situations.
Ohh I love that idea I’m going to give this a shot for sure ! Thank you so much for sharing that with me I’m super excited to give it a chance 🤗❤️🙌 thank you for watching !
Thank you. I enjoy your videos! 🌸 I don't have victorian romantic tarot, so I'm not coming from a place of experience. You could try thinking of it as a deck t romanticize your mundane life instead of a deck to read about romantic relationships. Dreams of Gaia has been on my list for a long time but I don't have time right now for decks that I have to study. Surrealist tarot looks interesting and could be fun to work with.
That is such a good idea to use the Victorian Romantic for romanticising life I love that 🤗 thank you for that awesome inspiration I’m gonna give it a go 😘💖
Great video, as always! Please don't be too hard on yourself with shame -- I think it is okay to let decks rest, and to get distracted by other decks. I love hearing what kind of practice or readings you find work really well for you with certain decks! I have to think about taking a second look at purchasing certain decks after this video -- the Animal Totem Tarot is speaking to me, for one... Thank you for the link to the @LarkandLegend Lenormand videos.
Thank you so much ❤️ Yes so true, sometimes decks need to rest a little so their time can come again. It's been fun to revisit them this way. I am so glad you enjoyed the video, thank you for being here 🤗
The 2 neauchard decks were BY FAR my favorite , i have both, because a year or so you recommended the alchemy deck to me which i had no clue about, so now i habe both and adore them
13:17 if i wasn't at work i would've cackled when you showed the Literary Tarot! The delays were crazy, but imagine if you'd gone to a bookstore and saw it there for sale! That's what happened to me, and i hadn't gotten my copy yet 🤦🏿♀️ you had me remembering the drama of it all😂😂
Ahhh, Marine, we all have that feeling of SHAME. Shame on me, too. No tomatoes, I am throwing hearts ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I am also a super-fan of Jean Beauchard and I didn't know about the Alchemical one!! I love the Dragons. 🐉🐉🐉 I think I need this. 😅 I am going to play with Maconnique today. (I need to sharpen my lenormand skills, maybe a little Camelia Elias?)
Omg I’ve been looking to get the camélias Elias book on kindle as it would be easier for me than getting it shipped here and I think your comment is my sign to finally do it 😁🫶 big hugs to you 💖💖
Ok I'm sooo late watching this. *binging your deck vids 😅 Anyway, yeah, I totally agree on the gatekeepking of Lenormand. I felt that when I first started and got so annoyed that I made my own Lennie deck and now I have my own intuitive way of reading. It goes so much better now. Although I haven't used the Lennie system much in 2024. Maybe I'll bring it back for 2025 🤔
Awww thank you for binging my videos that’s the best comment 🥲💖I love your idea of bringing it back for 2025, it will be a fun way to approach the new year! I’m waiting on a couple of cute modern ones to arrive and I am going to pick it back up as I’ve been slacking the last couple of months 😅
Bonjour! Happy 2024! Thanks for another interesting video (I guess I have commented here before about the Somnia Tarot, not my cup of tea at all either, and I like dark decks!)I also have and love the After Tarot deck. I believe they are a some sort of Lo Scarabeo set, the After, Before and New Vision. I was going to buy the Before but I didn't find it as interesting, don't know why (I might change my mind.) I am not a big fan of the traditional RWS deck because I find it too static, even with all that going on re: symbolisms. But, funny enough, my After Tarot gives me very positive readings which not necessarily translate into reality sometimes, it is very solar for me, but I still love it, it is like that cheerful friend that gives another spin to things and make you feel good despite the sh*t going on 😅❤. Bisous 💫🧡
Happy 2024 to you as well 🥳💖I love decks like that that just bring the sunshine and positive vibes, sometimes it’s really needed 🤗 I don’t have the before either but now I am Tempted too to have the set 🤣 thank you so much for watching & gros bisous 💖💖
Thank you so much for making this video I loved it I did order Le Tarot des Alchemistes. It did say delivery was for Jan 23 so I pray it will come. Of course there are other decks you mentioned that I want also, but we'll start with this one first. Thank you thank you thank you. 😊
Thanks for this video! I often struggle with Lo Scarabeo decks-which so often go their own wild ways. This first deck reminds me of the LS Tarot of the Sweet Twilight. So gorgeous but really tough for me to bond with.
Yes some of them really go their own way ! I love the tarot of the sweet twilight because that one speaks to me very clearly compared to the surrealist for example so it’s funny how every deck will be different for everyone. I love that about tarot there is something for everyone 😁thank you for watching 💖
I think I need the after tarot 😅 I will also need an update on how it goes with the carnival at the end of the world because it's been my forever on the fence deck lol
I found you through this tag that The Hermit's Cave started. I love your style. Although you talk a little fast somehow you are very relaxing, which I need because I am suffering from depression. You also made me smile, so thank you. Now subscribed. That Lenormand deck is beautiful.
Thank you so much for your kind comment 💖 I'm so grateful my video could bring a smile that means a lot. I didn't know this tag had been recently re created, I did my video a couple of months ago but I am glad to see now more people talking about overlooked decks it's always an interesting subject for me. Thank you for watching & for being here !
I made a mistake. It is possible that The Hermit's Cave saw your video, he might have even said. It was on his last 'live' and it wasn't 'tagged' but he said that people could do a tag or vr response so I did a search and yours came up. I saw a tag in your description and just assumed...but now I see the date. I hope I did not cause offence. Such a brilliant idea you had and it is so interesting.@@thewavesofyoursoul
@@golden1789 oh no don’t worry! No offense at all! It happens in tarotube sometimes that the same subject is talked about with different tags and it’s so hard to keep up that I don’t mind at all 😊 💖
The Animal Totem was my first deck because I didn’t know much and I couldn’t relate to the people in regular decks. I had really good beginner readings for myself and a friend by using the guidebook. I’ve gotten away from it cuz I am attracted by the artwork in other decks and have progressed in my interpretations. I can’t get rid of it cuz of the Queen of Pentacles and The King of Cups. I’ve never drawn more than three cards from this deck and I can see that more than three would be overwhelming.
Yes for the Animal Totem!!!! It's so good and reads so well ❤️ The guidebook entries are also quite powerful. Besides, it has my favorite depictions for the HP and Empress 😁 I'm with you on giving it a chance to shine again . I don't own the Surrealist but another one in a similar style, rare, that tbh I only bought for "investment purposes" : the Tarot of Metamorphosis. Like you, I tried to have a dialog with it but, nothing happened...My Victorian Romantic is gathering dust. I fear it may never be used again. It is just too beautiful for us to dialog. Like being star struck by a gorgeous man and feeling unable to "act" 😂
Hahaha love that analogy of being faced with a gorgeous man 😂I feel you! Ive been loving getting into the animal totem guidebook since filming this I’m so glad I’m giving it a second chance it really is an awesome deck 🙌☺️ thank you so much for watching 💖💖
My favorite card of all my decks is the Animal Totem Queen of Pentacles -just taking care of herself with a much needed spa day in a mud bath. Look at that grin on her face😄
Tarot Surrealist looks awesome. I recall once you said "Circus at the End of the World". I really want the Lo Scarabeo decks.. Inbetween, Before and After, etc. Lenormand has gone through wars which thankfully I missed! An awesome video, thank you!
I've been in a similar position over the Gaia! I love the artwork but quite frankly the guidebook drives me nuts. She uses all this very complex art but doesn't explain at all why she chose the imagery. Then, some of the cards seem a bit pointless according to the book. Can't remember exactly but I think there's a card called "Male/Female" and in the book it says "you need to balance your male and female side" which to me is kind of 🙄🙄🙄because ummm yeah ok but don't tell me which is out of balance or how I balance whichever if I manage to find out on my own... in which case why do I need you, Gaia tarot?!!! But it stays in the "wow your art is beautiful but I don't understand you at all" box!
I completely understand ! I have been using it since filming this to give it a chance and I end up enjoying the guidebook but not paying attention to what is on the card so much because I can’t correlate the artwork to the theme of the guidebook oftentimes they feel like two separate things it makes me confused 😅I’m Going to give it a whole month though to see if I can push past it but the struggle is real haha. Thank you for watching !
what a great video ! thx for sharing. my unused or less used decks feel like people I thought I'd be fast friends with but we keep misunderstanding each other, pretty disappointing. there's always promise and time :O) I have an adorable bunny deck I just flip through because the suits are different flowers and there's no guidebook so I've no idea which is which. beloved tarot 🌙
That is such a good description for them I loved that analogy! They really do feel like people we haven’t quite gotten to know deeply yet. Thank you so much for watching 💖
I have the Surrealist & I love it. I have read with it a few times only, intuitively. I do look through it & smile often though. I was exactly the same about the Carnival at the End of the World. I wanted it for years, finally got it & sold it after never looking at it. YET I want it again 🤣🤔 I love the art - if I see it cheaply then it will probably come home with me.
I think it’s one of those decks that needs to be at the right time at the right place if that makes sense. Like when it’s gonna be time it will be perfect but until then it won’t happen haha. At least that’s how it feels for mine so I’m hoping its time is coming 😅 thank you for watching Deb, big hugs 💖
Thank you for this video Marine! Bon la, si j'étais pour faire cette vidéo it wouldn't be a box of shame but a whole bookcase! J'ai au moins une vingtaine still in boxes... Their shipping boxes! 🫣🫣 Yes i can use that i moved as a reason, but really I've been feeling so low energy after a day of work and tasks that when i have free time I end up being a couch potato😂 so that's how they accumulated. I've also read cards way less often in 2023 which I'm bummed a bit cause i enjoy this hobby of mine! I do have many deck i haven't connected with, for the reasons mentioned above too. In any case, merci encore for the video, loved seeing the decks and hearing you talk about them! Et allez hop, une petite vague! 🌊
I completely understand ! Sometimes we just go through phases where our tarot practices has to adapt to what’s going on in our lives and there is no shame in that ☺️❤️ moi je trouve ça chouette d’avoir des jeux qu’on peut ouvrir de temps en temps aussi en mode petit cadeau de la semaine let’s open a new deck haha that could be quite sweet 🤗 merci beaucoup d’avoir regardé, big hugs to you 💖💖
Box of shame anyone else?

Bonjour! Bisous 💫🧡
Happy 2024 to you as well 🥳💖I love decks like that that just bring the sunshine and positive vibes, sometimes it’s really needed 🤗 I don’t have the before either but now I am
Tempted too to have the set 🤣 thank you so much for watching & gros bisous 💖💖
Thank you so much for making this video I loved it I did order Le Tarot des Alchemistes. It did say delivery was for Jan 23 so I pray it will come. Of course there are other decks you mentioned that I want also, but we'll start with this one first. Thank you thank you thank you. 😊
Ohh so exciting I am crossing all fingers it comes quickly to you & I hope you will love it 🤗thank you for watching !
For sure I will come back once I’ve given it a real shot 😊 thank you so much for watching lovely 💖
Nice video! Did you really said Tarot of Prague is getting reprinted??😮😮 I haven’t seen that, I’m waiting for it! @The Waves of Your Soul
Yes I saw on their newsletter they mentioned it so definitely sign up for their newsletter to be notified when it's coming back :)
It happens in tarotube sometimes that the same subject is talked about with different tags and it’s so hard to keep up that I don’t mind at all 😊 💖
Love your nails ! 💅
Thank you 😄
The Animal Totem was my first deck because I didn’t know much and I couldn’t relate to the people in regular decks.
That queen of pentacles is so awesome 🥰
@@thewavesofyoursoul oh yes…spa day!
@karensorrentino9498 🐷💞
@@karensorrentino9498 great choice !!!
Tarot Surrealist looks awesome. I recall once you said "Circus at the End of the World". I really want the Lo Scarabeo decks.. Inbetween, Before and After, etc. Lenormand has gone through wars which thankfully I missed! An awesome video, thank you!
Thank you so much mon amie 💖 yes I kinda want the Before tarot now to have the whole set 🤣 what are we like hahaha. Merci d’avoir regardé bisous 😘
“Not today satan” 😂😂😂
I think that card was depicting a clockwork orange vibe
That’s true I can totally see that reference !!thank you for watching lovely 💖💖
I have been using it since filming this to give it a chance and I end up enjoying the guidebook but not paying attention to what is on the card so much because I can’t correlate the artwork to the theme of the guidebook oftentimes they feel like two separate things it makes me confused 😅I’m
Going to give it a whole month though to see if I can push past it but the struggle is real haha. Thank you for watching !
@@thewavesofyoursoul Very brave ;-) maybe update us on what you decided in the end😁
@@Marizeye I will in my next monthly favorite video ;) 🙌
@@thewavesofyoursoul looking forward to it ☺️👍

🤣🤣🤣
what a great video ! thx for sharing. my unused or less used decks feel like people I thought I'd be fast friends with but we keep misunderstanding each other, pretty disappointing. there's always promise and time :O) I have an adorable bunny deck I just flip through because the suits are different flowers and there's no guidebook so I've no idea which is which. beloved tarot 🌙
Yes i can use that i moved as a reason, but really I've been feeling so low energy after a day of work and tasks that when i have free time I end up being a couch potato😂 so that's how they accumulated.
