To see a dam water is a spectacular view. On top we have water for tommorow.,so why not more of such marvellous construction. Prevention of floods and droughts

I hear ya Henry, especially when you look at the Snowy Mountains Hydro Scheme. All the dams are connected with tunnels, which have generators to generate electricity, and to move water around.
But dams do take up a massive area, swallowing up land, native flora and wildlife etc.
But I’m definitely in your side 👍🏼
      Cheers for watching mate !

Hello, your video brought back memories of a fishing trip at Dartmouth Dam about 32 years ago.
Myself and my mate Larry drove up towing a 16ft fiberglass half cab boat from Ringwood, when we arrived at the boat ramp the wind was howling and causing quite a chop on the water and then the rain came as we went halfway across to the other side to get out of the wind, we made it up a raging creek and tied up the boat to a tree, it was a long night ! soaking wet, no fish and we wished we had stayed home,

I was there 26 years ago and went back two weeks ago. it is an insane amount of water. Dartmouth is spilling 9.1 GL a day down that waterfall and that is going into the Hume dam 60 kilometers downstream where it meats the Murray river. The Hume dam is maintaining a small air space so is spilling all its inflow at present which is 41 GL a day as of 27/10/22 so several gates are open spilling a lot of water. If you subtract the total coming in from Dartmouth that means 32 GL is flowing down the upper Murray system at present then add to that the Kiewa River, the Ovens River, the Goulburn River, and the Campaspe River plus tributaries of these rivers which are all running at very high or flood levels and you see why Echuca was in so much trouble.

A great video, that has been well thought out and produced. Not many TH-camrs have the ability and insight to put together a multi-media video presentation that knits all the elements together that make for an interesting viewing experience. I've not seen this channel before and can't quite figure out how or why it appeared on my TH-cam feed/recommended list, but I clicked on the link because I thought it was a news story about flooding in Dartmouth,UK! Anywayz, glad I accidentally stumbled upon this interesting and well produced channel, so I subscribed and gave it a like.
Whilst I do have a connection and affinity with Australia, my main reasons for subscribing were this guys video editing and producing abilities ( sorry don't know who he is yet as we not long just arrived here! ) and his efforts to grow his TH-cam channel, which particuarly ticked my box and led to an interesting and in-depth conversation with my partner on the mechanics, intricacies and the nuances in design that contribute heavily to the success of any TH-cam channel. This guy has obviously learnt a lot and has an almost natural ability and understanding for the subject, which surprisingly, not many TH-camr seem to get.
This channel should have considerably more viewers and subscribers, considering the overall quality, and it puzzles me why the numbers are so low and why this channel is not been exposed to a much wider audience. It's probably down to the TH-cam AI Algorithm and maybe some of the meta info not being correctly filled out/completed or something that is negatively impacting the visibility or inclusion of this channel in TH-cam and other search results. Can't think of any other reason right now, but subscribed so that can hopefully get to analyse his videos in detail and hopefully learn what it is that might be holding this great channel back from having millions of views and hundreds of thousands of subscribers, because it is not the quality or presentation for sure, maybe it is just a really new channel or something, dunno, will have to do me homework. Thanks for reading my rambling ramble, Cheers from West Wales, UK :-)

Hi Greg, thanks for watching and for the positive comments and your input.
I’m just a Aussie guy ( older guy ) doing what he loves in getting out there a exploring our great country.
4x4ing, touring etc is massive in Oz on TH-cam,and if you not one of the big 20 or so channels you will struggle.
The channel is only 14 months old and I’m quite happy how it’s progressing, I like the idea of just letting the channel take its course. I’m getting a lot of good feedback which is good and I have a good loyal bunch of subscribers.
My biggest issue is technology beats me, it’s not my strong point, which can be quite frustrating at times. But I’m sticking with it and will just keep putting the content out there and see how it progresses!
Please give me any feedback that you think would help me out in the future. This would be greatly appreciated.
Once again… thanks for watching and taking the time out to comment and especially for the Sub 👍🏼

Thanks for your video mate. never been to the dartmouth dam. So, you on the Snowy Hydro two, have you any idea how much of the 27km of tunnels has been bored so far?

Hey Big Red, I’m only a part of the crew building the access roads into Lobs Hole. I know they have completed the main access tunnel which is 2.85ks long, they have started at Tantangra again after being held up for a few months, but I’m pretty sure there only 1k in? and I think they’re moving along ok at the Talbingo end.
Not my area so not to concerned about it to tell the truth!

@@aguyandhistroopy Cheers. I imagine they are trying to get through Granite. When they bored the second tunnel for the Hydro at the Keiwa station, they took out enough granite to Seal the road from Falls creek down to the Mitta Mitta.
I guess there is going to be a fair bit of crushed granite dumped somewhere By the time they finish.

@@bigred8438 the issues they had at Tantangra was soft ground, the TBM sank, couldn’t mover it till they came up with a solution! All the burden is getting pushed around to make pads on site, filling up massive gullies etc, nothing is leaving site.

for you young ones who aint seen wet like we are about to have, as this is just the start of what the indiginous people who lived here when we settled towns claim, long time wet long time dry.
this is not man made climate change, this is australias climate, in the 100 year book of natimuks foundation, in that book it was stated, that the aboriginies stated that fact about the climate.
i am 57, ive seen this wet before back in the 70s, my father who is in his 80s remembers lots of wetlands always had water that have been dry for years.
my grandfather from tooan, told me about always water in abundance, you still get odd draught years, my grandmothers telling me of walking to school in water, shoes strung about their necks to stay dry.
the long dry has been, the next wet cycle has begun, just like those who lived here thousands of years knew as fact.
channel 7 stated we have a once in a 1000 year floods, really? was australia founded 1000 years ago? id like to see the data for that claim.
the sun was out yesterday oh it must be climate change.
oh its raining today it must be climate change.

Couldn’t agree more, commented about it early on post, we are a country of floods and drought.
It’s a media’s way for scaring people, and getting ratings. A storm use to be a storm, now it’s a supercell, east coast low etc. Every flood is pretty much classed as a 1 in 100 year flood only to happen again 5 years later. You only need to go back through the weather data a see this that floods and droughts are apart of our history.

look up 1930s 1956 how wet it was, if the info is still there, dad always talks about 1956s big wet.
this is nothing yet to what we have had in the past.
everyones been sucked into climate change, this is australias climate as it has been for thousands of years, far far before any industry.
sit back and enjoy the ubundace of ducks, yabbies, fish, swans, boy have i seen swans before, thousands on one wetland that didnt have hardly room for the swans room too swim over the whole lake.
    pluvers in mobs of 50.
good old days are on the way back.
