I’m simple, I see a cool trailer video and I click like and watch! It’s a simple life!

Howdy Richard. I am just as simple! Speaking of trailers....I am waiting for your new one. (Just sayin'). Also....I used my red tool to assemble my new Paulk SMART workbench. It worked like a charm.
I couldn't remember if I had mentioned it to you. Great tool. Thanks!

@@sdsconstruction Gotcha. It is funny because I saw the beginning of the video again and noticed something about your trailer I never noticed before. I saw the electrical plug you have at the back of the trailer and you have it oriented ground up. Is that how you install your electrical plugs?

Simple my but I’ve seen your new trailer plans lol

@@russalbright4213 It depends. For a while, someone trusted told me it was "new code" so I switched over and made it my habit. BUT then....I did a little homework in the NEC code book and it is not code as of this posting so I have the luxury of installing whichever way I prefer. I like the ground down if I have the option. I give clients the option or I just do what has already been done in their home and copy the orientation to any new receps.

@@bmac8130 It looks like it will be a top trailer among trailers. I am very interested in seeing the versatility that I think R&R is planning on so he can use it for tools and for camping/tailgating and for possibly hauling bikes/4 wheelers etc. It may change in the final iteration or I might have misheard his plans but it will be interesting either way!

Hey there TTF! Thanks for commenting and I appreciate the compliment! I am happy to have stumbled on Ron Paulk's videos back in 2019 and to have found out that he had plans for this build out. As I said in the video, 5 years in and it hasn't gotten old yet. In 2026, I am hoping to purchase a bigger trailer and do a "proper" SMART build out on the new one.

Yo, Spence! Always love seeing the trailer videos. I may have commented once, when I first thought about a trailer build, one of your old deep dives was the first video I saw. Talk about sending a guy down a rabbit hole…
Anyway… I’m just about to complete my second 7x14x7 trailer build and I still reference yours, and a few others, for good ideas. Thanks for the content, and happy new year!

Howdy and Happy New Year Dorman! Thanks for the compliments. Great news about your second build and congrats on the large trailer. I am about a year and a half out before I buy another trailer and tackle another build. I am looking forward to it though, now I have found the Ultralight plywood to keep the trailer infrastructure weight down and have more flexibility for tools and materials weight. If you ever post anything, please let me know. I am one for trailer videos!!

I just added a urinal in mine, and it is a game-changer. Especially on hot days when I drink a lot of water.

    • @sdsconstruction
      @sdsconstruction  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

Now this??.....I would love to see a video on! I have seen both the Handyman and Renovations and Repairs YT channels show the small camping toilets where they keep them on board their trailers for emergencies that would need more than a bottle while on the jobsite. But...a urinal. That would be a crowning achievement in tool trailer efficiency. Ya got me thinkin.........
If one was in the south where temps do not get below freezing....and one had a small, say 10gal, water supply on board....this would be a possibility.

Hey Spence! Happy New Year! I was just thinking that it had been a while since you had a video out, its good to see you on TH-cam again. I can't help but notice that we did not see the one red tool that you won anywhere in the trailer lol! Everything is still looking great in the trailer. Such a surreal feeling to know that it is 2025, and I will be retiring at the end of this school year. When I first started thinking about potential retirement years ago, it seemed like 2025 was so far in the future, yet here we are. Wishing you and your family all the best in the new year and I am looking forward to seeing what adventures in building and construction you have in store this year.

Howdy Russ! Thanks for commenting, as always! Life has been busy and left little time for editing and posting content. As far as the M12 red tool....it is on my inside workshop currently in the cubbies I built. If I had room in the trailer, I would move it in but right now, I am (as I have been for a while) at tool max. I used it for the entire SMART bench assembly in honor of winning it from Richard.
Excited for you and your retirement! I am at T-minus 9 years currently. I would be retiring with you but young Spence did not believe he would ever retire and did not invest like he should have been. So, old Spence is playing catch up. If all goes well, I should retire with 7 figures invested. If not, I will be on the high side of 6. At that point, I will not worry as much about health care costs burning our savings up.
Best of this new year and a very Happy one to you and your family!

@@sdsconstruction Do you get any type of pension in Pennsylvania? In my school district, there is a formula that is used to convert your unused sick days into money that can be used to purchase health insurance though the District. The employee pays 100% of the premium, but if you can get away with a single plan, the money should last 7 or 8 years. At that point, the employee is on their own until they reach 65 for a medicare plan, and then you can get a supplemental plan of your choice. Not the best, but a whole lot better then nothing.

@@russalbright4213 We have a PA pension through PSERS (same or similar as police, etc). My district has some payment in place (negotiated) for unused sick days. The payment is used towards health insurance I believe through a 403b. We also have a small negotiated payment by the district for any who retire early for additional help with health care.

@@geometryexplainseverything4926 Howdy GeoExpEvrthg! Thanks for commenting. I had seen Ron Paulk in his earlier trailers use a label machine to great results. In his latest trailer, he switched to FastCap edge banding and a marker. As much as I would like the uniformity of a label maker, for me, I knew that simpler is always better if I want to be consistent so I went with the 24cm wide self adhesive yellow edge banding and a Sharpie black marker. I am happy that the label machine is working out well for you!
