    In this video I’m showing you how to remove and install the exhaust manifold on a Mini Cooper S R56 with an N14 engine the easy way. There is no need to put your Mini in service mode.
    This makes it much easier for you to replace your oil filter housing gasket or replace your turbo.

    I can’t believe you were able to do all this without putting it in front end service mode! I had a hard time with 10 more inches if clearance than you did. My arms and hands got all beat up like yours. ;-)

      It’s pretty easy. It would have taken me at least twice as long if i put it in service mode

      Pretty sure it's impossible to do this without service mode when the heat shield is on. I've tried a few times to remove the heat shield without service mode and found it impossible lol.
      Great video! Shows me exactly what to expect, but I'm going to spend the extra 20 mins for service mode.

      I took mine off without service mode. I’ve never had it in service mode for any of my videos.

      @@ProjectMini I need your advice please. (Yes I’m on your DIY ON FB) I can’t seem to find out why my oil pressure sensor keeps coming on and off! Oil level is perfect, just changed it to royal purple, new filter , spark plugs , turbo white caps( your suggestion) I do have a slight leak on the turbo feed line and gaskets on the oil filter housing. I have everything to replace this week! Do you think the oil filter screen maybe clogged with something? Thank you
      The motor is a 2010(60k miles) replacement motor the 07 blew.
      My mechanic installed a new timing chain, water pump, thermostat, fuel pump on motor and gas tank. But he never took the oil pan off! I’m $10k into this car. Motor$3200 swap out with parts $7k😡😡

    About to tackle this. I have had many parts off for replacement. I think you can gain a little more room if you remove the U shaped rad support. Its just a few bolts and you could gain maybe a little more space above. Otherwise this looks more doable than service mode.

    Is that a JWC manifold? If so did you notice any gains with it?

    Thanks for sharing that vacuum pump video, it was very helpful. I just changed the timing chain on my 2009 Cooper. It starts and drives very well but I am getting an intake cam sensor code which appears to come in immediately when it's cranking. I have replaced the cam sensor twice and I think it is something else that is generating the code. Do you have any thoughts on this?

    If one has the experience to do this, how long does this take realistically and what would a reasonable fee be to replace a turbo? I had two estimates, both over $4300. Auto parts store most expensive turbo new is $1600+ tax. Located in Lehighton, PA 18235.. Love to find a tech willing to do the job under $3k. TIA!

    Do you install that turbo bracket underneath that attach to the motor back?

    How do you remove the down pipe heat shield without extra space?

    • @ProjectMini
      @ProjectMini  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use an electric ratchet to get to all the bolts except the one by the dip stick. I use an open end wrench for that

    Is that oil line factory length? I looks like yours is positioned different. Or is yours just backwards?

    • @ProjectMini
      @ProjectMini  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a way motor works steal braided oil line. It might not be ran the factory route since ive had it off so many times

    Your car seems to be missing the exhaust heat shield. I've just removed it on mine in service mode. I dont think I could have done it otherwise.

    Why bleed the coolant after the job?

    • @ProjectMini
      @ProjectMini  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because you removed the coolant lines on the turbo allowing air into the system

    Service mode is just a way for mechanics to jack up the bill.
