Northern Soul.... The first underground genre of music with a fast danceable tempo to be born. Also the first time in music when the 'DJ' became the star act. I too (although 14 years older than you) was raised from a mother of this scene. Unquastioably the most important and groundbreaking music scene in UK, if not global history. It gave birth of dance music, and also the birth of the 'DJ'. The Twisted Wheel & Wigan Casino go down in the history books alongside Studio 54, The Paradise Garage, The Warehouse, and The Hacienda... As the greatest nightclubs to ever exist,,,
The Night. Those Northern Soul nights. If only time could have stood still. The old wooden dance floors. The music come through the dance floor into your body . The heat . Remember those days . Remember those nights. Remember Northern Soul. The Greatest dance era ever.

always remember back in august of 1989 during school holidays. I always listened to radio for bed and i especially loved the foreign stations on long wave. I remember this song being played and loved it. IT was a few months before i heard it again and found out the band and song title. For some reason, I really reminds me of a cinema my grandmother ran for a years or so before it closed in november 1979. The Regal in ashington. It had been a theatre so was massive inside, had a balcony. Used to go into work with her alot , fantastic memory to have.
This takes me back to the days when youth clubs were the place to go. Sad they're no longer around. Outward bound activities, boxing, self defence classes for girls, sports. I'm sure there'd be less violence on the streets. Strange how 1 song can evoke such memories.
You tell kids that we went to Youth Clubs and Discos, and they look gone out at you, yet for our generation they were great ... we went out to enjoy ourselves, to dance, meet people and do activities.

I had the privilege of seeing Frankie Valli and the current line up of the 4 seasons twice in the last 4 years. They came to the BIC in Bournemouth. On one side was an American lady who’d flown just to see them. On the other was a Swedish lady who’d done the same. They didn’t disappoint. Frankie was in his 80’s and hit the hight notes.
A record synonymous with my old man and a belter to boot.
"And goodbye may come too quickly"
Way before my time but as soon as I saw the remix of beggin I researched them. I didn’t know how many hits they had. This is music.
A return to the UK charts with this classic in April 1975 after an 8 year absence.Followed it up 5 months later with Who Loves You.
There are great songs and there are great great songs....this is one of them!

@@yorkiegeoff1825 His rendition is really outstanding!
Always a cracking tune with the brilliant vocals and beat with such harmony .brilliant
I am a 29 year old female, who's parents were around 10 years older than most of my friends & I was basically raised on this stuff....ACTUAL GOLD! 🙌
....I still go back, all these years later, to enjoy it & I will 100% be passing it onto my children! 🖤🙌
Well said. Kids should experience this quality music, and that can only happen by handing it down 😉
You've been well influenced
Northern Soul.... The first underground genre of music with a fast danceable tempo to be born. Also the first time in music when the 'DJ' became the star act. I too (although 14 years older than you) was raised from a mother of this scene. Unquastioably the most important and groundbreaking music scene in UK, if not global history. It gave birth of dance music, and also the birth of the 'DJ'. The Twisted Wheel & Wigan Casino go down in the history books alongside Studio 54, The Paradise Garage, The Warehouse, and The Hacienda... As the greatest nightclubs to ever exist,,,
I’m 19 and i was raised up with these. And I ain’t complaining what an era this was! Northern soul is the best
You've got good taste. 👍👍
The Night.
Those Northern Soul nights.
If only time could have stood still.
The old wooden dance floors.
The music come through the dance floor into your body .
The heat .
Remember those days .
Remember those nights.
Remember Northern Soul.
The Greatest dance era ever.
It's been years scince I last heard this song. My mother always used to play old songs like this one to my brother and me when we were small.

Fabulous intro. Remember dancing to this when it emerged on the Northern Soul scene. Also remember walking back from Wigan Casino (15 miles, missed the bus!) and arriving home at 6 am to find a police car outside the house. Not quite what I had in mind for an all nighter, but I was only 15.
That's some task in 28" bellbottoms and 6" soles 😆 bet you had a knitted polo jumper too 😉
@@griffdaz1982 Fairly close. Birmingham bags with three-button waistband and flat shoes.
Amazing bass.
As someone who is 19, this is in my top 5 favorite songs. Wish I could find another soul song that matches the energy and tone.

Brilliant northern soul from frankie vali like this one good song. Ktf 🤩😊😎🤗
What a tune!
always remember back in august of 1989 during school holidays.
Great bass line
This takes me back to the days when youth clubs were the place to go. Sad they're no longer around. Outward bound activities, boxing, self defence classes for girls, sports. I'm sure there'd be less violence on the streets. Strange how 1 song can evoke such memories.
You tell kids that we went to Youth Clubs and Discos, and they look gone out at you, yet for our generation they were great ... we went out to enjoy ourselves, to dance, meet people and do activities.
And the beatings because some or different but get what your saying tho
used to go to the twisted wheel, witworth st manchester, or stoke on trent for northern soul nights hear this played at these venues soft drinks only served and no alcohol
@@robbieedward8773 Loads of Dex though .. Happy days. All nighters .. cups of tea in Shude Hill ... Oh well.
You should go to a techno rave. It’s very similar.
