    Great video. I have both the bike erg and the ski erg. Just finished a 100 cal bike and 1000 meter ski for time. Nice quick getting the heart rate up combo. Planning on getting the rower sometime this year

    Great video and very informative. Thanks for posting it. Are you able to ride this with your back fairly upright? I'm concerned about straining my lower back if I have to bend too deeply to reach the handle bars? Also, did you buy it direct from the manufacturer? Thanks!

    • @plantED
      @plantED  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @D Gr…with the seat and handle bar adjustments, you should be able to find comfortable ride height. I purchased privately from a guy who bought it and never used it. Hope this helps…stay safe and well!

    Great videos on the Concept 2 Bike Erg. My question is do you find the "dead spots" to be problematic, and, therefore, making spin bikes with a fixed flywheel better for the overall cardio work out since they don't have these "dead spots"?

    • @plantED
      @plantED  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Dammit Jim...Good question. No, I do not find the dead spots problematic at all...in fact, I consider them a trigger/reminder to pick up my pedal stroke. I’ve spent countless hours on bike trainers, especially when I was competing in Triathlons, and I can tell you the Bike Erg is great for overall cardio and more specific/targeted training. Stay safe and well!

    Thank you for the video. I think I'm sold on getting one!
    My question is: as a cardio workout, how do you think the bike erg compares to a spin bike? In my country the bike erg is several hundred dollars more expensive than a decent spin bike like the Schwinn IC4. Is it worth the extra dollars? Appreciate any comments!

    • @plantED
      @plantED  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Be Real Great question. In my opinion, the bike erg produces a better cardio workout and I’ve used both.
      The resistance keeps on increasing when you spin fast and decreases when you reduce the speed of pedaling. Unlike a spin bike where the pedals keep rotating if you stop pedaling, the Bike Erg allows you to coast and then return to your pedal stroke, which is just like riding a regular bike, giving you greater control over the workout. Even with the damper fully closed, if you pedal fast enough, it’s a great workout. What country are you located in?

    This is such a helpful video, thank you! I’m getting my Concept 2 Bike Erg tomorrow and I’m super excited. Going to order the bottle holder and toe clips too and looking for an iPad holder also which I know you said Concept 2 sell but often OOS.
    Thanks for all the tips and advice : )
    In terms of saddle and handle height / distance, how would you advise to set this up? Measuring against hip height etc?

    • @plantED
      @plantED  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Anna Mildwater I’m excited for you...you’re going to love it! For saddle and handle height, I just had to adjust a few times to find my sweet spot. Both are very easy to move so you shouldn’t have any issues with finding the right fit. Try the Concept2 WOD too...easy to program and lots of variety. Stay safe and well!

      They now have a device holder that accommodates phones and tablets. This is a new redesign product and is included with the current new bike shipments. I imagine you can order directly from C2 for existing bikes.

    Hi, I like to pedal against high resistance in short intervals to blast my quads-- is the resistance of the Bike Erg strong enough for this? Also, looking at the Sole SB900 and Bowflex C6 which are the same price as the Bike Erg--any experience with these?

    • @plantED
      @plantED  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Ab Yes, you can really blast your quads with the damper wide open...the harder you pedal, the more resistance. A 20-30 second max effort interval set will have your legs on fire! I can’t comment on the Sole SB900 or Bowflex C6 as I have had the opportunity to ride either. Hope this helps...stay safe and well!

    • @ginabb29
      @ginabb29 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@plantED Thanks for your response. In a max effort interval sprint what would fail first your wind or your legs? How long can you pedal at max effort with damper on 10? Also, I see in one of your comments that you tried the Schwinn IC4 (which is the same bike as the Bowflex C6) --how would you rate the max resistance on the Schwinn compared to the Bike Erg?

    • @plantED
      @plantED  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Ab Hello....I would say an interval session with max effort of 30 seconds, above 600 watts would be be killer! Your legs will tire out first. Interesting on your Schwinn comment...I have never been on that bike. I owned a Cascade CMX pro prior to the Bike Erg and the highest level of resistance on that bike also produced a great workout. The only difference being that your resistance is fixed until you change the setting. On the Bike Erg, I feel you have more control over your ride and can change intensity simply by pedaling faster. Even with the damper completely closed, you can get a great workout in. Hope this helps.

    What do you mean by the dead spot at the bottom?

    • @plantED
      @plantED  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@plantED ah right. Iv bought a c2 bike erg. Coming in the few weeks. Never been on one before. So it isn't a smooth pedal cycle like the watt bike for example?

    • @plantED
      @plantED  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @d b...It’s a very smooth ride..:the only time you’ll feel the dead spot is when you get up off the seat and your pedal stroke is too slow. If you ride with clipless pedals, will not be an issue. If not, order the toe clips I show in the video and that will help too.
