    Great video I really like the simplicity of no having to memorize certain steps but still allowing me to look like I kind of know what I'm doing.

      Chase, that's really what dancing is all about! Get yourself confident with just a few fundamental skills and rock them anyway you like. Have fun on the dance floor!!!

    I enjoy your simple approach and the emphasis on having fun. However if you tried this on the dance floor at a country dance spot you would get run over. Typically the two step (and I know you are not doing that specific dance) is done progressively around the dance floor. Your lessons do help the non dancer get started with rhythm and leading and following which are so important. Keep the videos coming.

      @jcdanceco  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dancing Donna! Thanks for the comments, and we totally agree with you. Levelling up to progressive dances (like the 2-Step) is a great goal for beginner dancers to look forward to once they're confident dancing with a partner with a more stationary basic action. Wishing you loads of fun on the dance floor!

    Hey guys. Great video for those just trying to get started enjoying an evening on the dance floor! I'm an Adv-Bronze/Beg-Silver dancer and really struggle with songs like this one. I'm most comfortable in Waltz at about 30 MPM, this one is about 33 mpm, right? I like the simple weight transfer on the Boom and Tic. I find it difficult to step on each beat and travel the floor without getting too out of control because of the tempo. What do you suggest for someone at my level, who commonly dances socially with beginners? I would like to travel the floor, using 3/8th turns as a basic and incorporate some easy spins, but I think 33 mpm gets out of control for me. I want to use my foundational skills while keeping it comfortable for the lady, especially if she is pretty new to waltz. Do you have any suggestions?

    • @jcdanceco
      @jcdanceco  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Brent! A typical Standard Waltz, where you'd use 3/8th turns would be 28-30 bars per minute. This song is closer to 50 bars per minute, so you're totally right that it would not be comfortable for a beginner, especially one who is new to Waltz! A Standard Viennese Waltz (60 bars per minute) could be done, but again, it would not be appropriate for a beginner. Best to use a social style with this song, like an easy weight transfer on the Boom/Chic or a Box Step over 12 counts (123456 123456). Hope that helps!!!

    The song starts pretty quickly… so if you could possibly show suggestions for an entrance… thank you 😁

    • @jcdanceco
      @jcdanceco  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your question! 😊 With a song that starts so quickly like "You Make it Easy", we suggest doing an intro over either the first phrase (or half phrase) of music. That way, you still can make a nice entrance before starting the dance. Download our FREE checklist that outlines how the Intro, Body and Outro/Ending of the song can be structured. Wow, you guys are great, and so adorable too! I’m a complete non-dancer, so this video is perfect. In a week, my daughter is getting married and we’re dancing to Then They Do by Trace Adkins. Would this sway and underarm turn be appropriate for that song? Any other suggestions for someone with two left feet and 10 big toes?

      Hi Kevin, definitely! Main idea is to have a wonderful moment on the dance floor with your daughter. Having a few simple dance moves is just a bonus. Here's another video we did about father-daughter dances that we made:

    You make it easy. How about a waltz like Could I Have This Dance? Or perhaps a two step to Fishing In The Dark?

    • @jcdanceco
      @jcdanceco  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you keep the HomeBase pattern easy, it looks and IS in fact easy to dance, especially for total beginners! Doing a Waltz or a 2 step is great too, but it does add a layer of complexity, as the HomeBase pattern becomes longer (6 beats for a Waltz) and may include changes of rhythm (QQSS for a 2-step).

    • @jcdanceco
      @jcdanceco  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use the same skills in this video to dance to your song. However, learning how to choose the right Homebase pattern for your particular song is important. "Half a Song" is a little bit faster of a tempo, so we would suggest doing a simple step-tap instead of a side sway, in order to slow you down, and feel more comfortable dancing together. Let us know how you make out with it! 😊

    This would never be danced or played as a Two-Step. It’s a Viennese Waltz. A Two-Step would be danced in 4/4 time at about 170-200 bpm and would be a rhythmic song with accents on the 1,3,5,7. In country, the “slow-dance” is called Nightclub 2-step, which was created by Micheal Kim and derived from Buddy Schwimmer AKA the King of Swing’s dance called “Nightclub”. Nightclub 2-step is the slowest dance done in country done in 4/4 time around 50-60 bpm. It’s an informal, smooth dance with a 6 count basic which sways to the side, it’s meant to be a social dance performed in a busy setting and can very easily be taught to new dancers. Please don’t hesitate to reach out.
