Ignore the other comments, clearly they didn’t actually watch the video. You stated you were showing the capability of each camera without the crazy editing to make things “cleaner” on each test
@@EricShaquille btw on stabilization test - sigma lenses has much more warpiness and wooble, compared to lumix lenses. I sold my 28-70 because of that.
I hadn't heard about that. What'd you switch to? I was considering picking up the panasonic 20-60 as a travel lens because that 28mm feels way too tight for landscapes.
Lumix s5iix Cinematic specifications but the images so digital who use cine cameras before will not be happy with lumix s5iix Blackmagic has color science and braw makes you happy but the rest of the specs kill everything. Anyone who has used Sony, Red, Lumix or Canon will be disappointed because it takes you back in time. The design language is far from reality. It has the best color world and the best image you can get, but it makes you believe that nothing is perfect. It's like a cake without sugar.
I agree. With that said, the image of the original S5 is a lot better in my opinion. They added a lot of digital sharpness to the S5IIx and changed the image processing pipeline, but not in the right direction. It’s a shame, because on paper the S5IIX looks so promising.
Thank you for showing love to the pocket 4K! I've been using it for about 4 years now with the .64xl Speedbooster and it's a low light champ!! Haven't found a reason to upgrade yet!
I agree, dude! I'm shooting a larger project right now where I specifically chose the pocket because I wanted to use super 16 glass for that 70s look. I just really wish that the battery life wasn't so bad because rigging it up can be a pain😬
@EricShaquille I agree! If you can set lighting and work with color in post, it's the best camera for the money. As far as the battery, I use the DC out on my 5" monitor to extend the battery life on the camera. Last about 2 hours with a NPF battery on the monitor.

I've been racking my head for months trying to get a straight answer, maybe you can help. Does the S5iix crop to ASP-C for any rates above 48fps? Or can you get a 48fps with the full frame sensor? It looks like all of the menu options there stated ASP-C correct?
For the s5ii anything of 30fps has an aps-c crop. The pyxis tops out at 36fps before that dame crop. It's a limitation of that sensor(they use the same sensor)
@@EricShaquille Do you know the comparisons on the crop? The Pyxis crops to 6K DCI (6048x3200) for 48fps, down from 6048x4032. What's the 48fps cut for the S5iix? 6K DCI isn't ASP-C so would the s5iix have a more extreme crop compared to the Pyxis despite the same sensor?
@@EricShaquille Thank you for the clarification. Why is less important than knowing and without getting my hands on the s5iix it's been hard to get a straight answer on if the s5iix crops more than the Pyxis. I've been trying to pause videos on the menu screen and it's been rough. Cheers
We're all waiting on blackmagic to implement autofocus at this point. They have tracking technology is davinci resolve, it'd be awesome if that could translate to their cameras
Nooooo, no auto focus at all, 6k, SDI and nothing else different would sell me. Edit: It just occurred to me... That's a Z-cam. Blackmagic better move a bit.

It's a matter of processing. There have been a TON of cameras since 2019 that have used the Sony based "IMX 410" sensor. It generally tops out at 18ms and reads as slow as 25ms(in 16:9)
@@EricShaquille my friend works in the official repair center for panasonic and Leica, the Lumix S5iix sensor is the Sony IMX510. Also, Imx 410 cant do 6k so the Pyxis wont have it either.
👀 ditch that sigma 18-35mm and rent the SLR Magic 12mm mft mount I don’t use a speed booster which reduces the image quality to me. I had a 18-35 with a speed booster and it was lame so I sold it and got the Slr magic years ago. I can out class those two cameras with the 4k and the SLR Magic which I still have am just saying the pocket is a monster and since I started learning lighting before I sold it the last 3 videos I’ve shot I can mix the footage with the fx30 and u wouldn’t able to tell the difference. Those videos haven’t been uploaded yet by the client since am still editing the third video for them so don’t go looking for them on my page 😂😂😂😂
The SLR magic lenses really are incredible. I went with the sigma because theyre pretty neutral to try and somewhat match the look of the other sigma 28-70 I was using. You drop any videos with your fx30 yet?
@@EricShaquille sorry for the late reply am finally done with editing the last video. i see what your saying well if you ever need a lens recommendation thats the one to test out and my brain is telling me u can match the sigma with the SLR for some reason to get the same neutral look u want and 7 artisans as well which ill be going after soon for those low T stops 🤤
Great video...I actually want to get an S5IIx, it is more versatile, but I wouldn't think that the Pyxis (which I love) would be a comparison to it...I get that they have similar features, but its a mirrorless vs a box camera. I would assume that the Black Magic Cinema 6k would be the S5IIx competitor, as they have similar form factor. Either way, really nice video.
Yeah, they definitely have different applications. This is really more for the people out there questioning if it's worth it to jump from a mirrorless camera to a pyxis. I just wanted to show some of the pros and cons of each and that buying a proper "cinema camera" isn't exactly cure-all to your problems. Thanks though!
@ yeah I think you showed that well. Was very happy you showed the moire test, that and they 4:2:0 6k are the last two reservations I have about them S5IIx
Shooting in BRAW bypasses the noise reduction. The Pyxis has a worse signal to noise ratio than the s5ii. They both have the same sensor, but different rolling shutter and noise sensitivity. It’s a processing issue, not a sensor issue.
So are we just going to ignore the whole kidnapping that happened throughout this video?
Yes. That is exactly what we're going to do 🤫
Hahah 😂
