Similarly, when our Chief Minister, Mr. Yogi Adityanath, chose to cleanse his temple and home after your visit, he was exercising his belief system. He committed no inhumane act, nor did he violate anyone’s rights. Calling this discrimination seems unwarranted. If he truly wanted to discriminate, he could have denied you entry altogether. That would have been a real example of prejudice. Mr. Yadav, I urge you to refrain from indulging in divisive politics. Recently, I heard a member of the INDIA alliance on national television state that you plan to offer 80% reservation to OBCs and Muslims. While this may secure votes, it jeopardizes the future of our nation. Reservation, as a concept, was introduced to uplift marginalized communities who faced historical injustices, and that was necessary. But in modern India, reservations are harming those with genuine potential. Many deserving candidates from the General Category are denied opportunities in premier institutions like IITs and IIMs, while some who get these opportunities through reservations struggle to cope. Let me share an example. A student from the Dalit community, who secured admission to IIT Guwahati’s CSE branch due to reservation, tragically died by suicide because he could not keep up with the curriculum. While this incident is heartbreaking, it also highlights how misplaced reservations can harm those they are meant to help. Another deserving student lost that seat, and the one who got it faced immense academic pressure. Engineering, or any rigorous discipline, requires aptitude, not shortcuts. If you truly want to support underprivileged communities, why not offer fee waivers or financial aid? Let everyone compete on merit while ensuring that no one is held back due to lack of resources. This would preserve the quality of education and opportunities in India while still supporting those in need. I speak not out of personal grievance but for the betterment of our nation.
