@patmclaughlin107 that integrity accountability is weak statement. I dont know how many judge care about that. Its like saying "i will alway do good because god is watching me". Even for wrong judgements there is no accountability. Supreme court work less number of days than kindergarden kid go to school. Offcourse there will not be accountability in performance.
Superb ! It was such an exciting interview and the humility as well as professionalism of the former CJI, Mr DYC is so clearly visible and genuine. I remember my interaction with his father (former CJI) whom I had occassion to meet on a professional assignment as a young CA and his mother who was such a kind hearted host and person.
Dr. Dy Chandrachud sir is a prominent jurist, eminent lawyer and peoples judge. He interpreted the law of land in such a way that which depicts his knowledge of different rules like golden rule or mischief rule etc. He always emphasized on operative part of law which closely associate with the ideology that law is a rational instrument for upliftment of society and social change for good. lt may be possible that some persons or class of persons disagree with his rationality of judgements delivered by him, on their different social philosophy and interests but we must keep in mind that legal aspects can not work beyond the context and intention of statues concerned. His remarkable changes in Indian judiciary system will be remembered as corner stone which also affect legal fraternity and public at large in good sense. As an advocate and aspirant of higher judiciary he always inspired me by his limitless passions and conduct in court or outside of courtroom. his extraordinary legal understanding similar to Late PN Bhagvati. I would rather say that chandrachud sir is warrior of the constitution and it's values.🙏🙏
It’s so good that he wants to be addressed by his first name and is not happy with ‘Lordship’. We as Indians must let go of this heirarchy and treat every other person as a human being.
If I had to take inspiration from current personalities It is definitely our former CJI DY Chandrachud. He inspire us how to follow responsibilities of your institution by kepting your personal bias aside. A rational thinking towards controversial issues Hatsoff to you Sir Thankyou for your service to the nation Jai Hind
CJI Chandrachud should be awarded with Bharat Ratna or least Padma Vibhushan by govt of India for his contribution to judiciary system and bringing transparency to judiciary process. I tried to read almost every judgement passed by CJI and found so much word of wisdom over there . My favourite line from one of his judgement is - “ The power of state is what the people give it . Freedom is not subject to power but power is answerable to freedom. “ He is truly a gem of person ♥️♥️♥️ And Samita madam please keep bringing more such intellectual mind and if may I request please bring SRK ❤️too on your show🤩
It was a wonderful listening. This is so interesting and a rare of rarest interviews of anyone I have watched the full length. I am impressed with his judgements delivered in Supreme Courts of India. God bless him.
This CJI should be given a special task of bringing efficiency (like Musk and Ramaswamy in the States) in all levels of judiciary and introduce technology! Then, present a report with the financial requirements to implement the recommendations! If it means hiring more judges or needing to restructure in terms of how we dispose of cases, because status quo is unsustainable!😢

I am someone not from the law system and I love it that he comes out and just talks and you get to know so much about this world that normal people have no idea about. Thank you DYC
Why is the National Herald case against Gandhis not coming on board ? Is it due to the presence of nexus between senior influential lawers and judiciary? Justice D Y Chandrachude has done nothing in this issue. Rather, he appeared to be a part of this nexus.
Most of the higher judiciary time is either preserved to or doldnout to the most cremey layer of the BCI lawyers. Lakhs of people are rotting in jails without any remedy for decades but few lawyers can get judgements within few seconds of mentioning. Most deplorable state-of-the-art judiciary today.
Sirf itna hi nahi, inhone ne dono taraf dhol bajaya hai.. Power tha, justice kar sakte the par nahi, bikna jaruri samjha. SSR, Jiah Khan, Disha saliyan, Andha bhi ab to dekhne laga aur bola ki ye murder hai, par humare judge sahab ne to Insaf ke devi ki murti ki tarah apne ankho pe aise patti bandhi ki nahi maine to kuch dekha hi nahi, janta ne saboot rakh diya, nahi wo bhi humne nahi dekha. janta cheek cheekh ke insaf mang rahi hai, par sorry judge sahab soo rahe the aur kuch sunayi nahi diya. Corrouption ho to humari country jaise. retirement ke baad clean chit nikal jate hai aur social media ke time me kuch PR aur kuch ankh wale andhe hote hai to unka kya hi kiya jaa sakta hai.

@@rajjaha9556 I agree with you, but I believe that a judge should not be familiar with politicians or influential individuals. For instance, you have seen him invite the Prime Minister to his house, drive fancy cars, and give lectures at various colleges. I think such activities should be avoided while holding the position of Chief Justice. These can be pursued after retirement. Being chosen as the Chief Justice is a tough job, and such sacrifices are necessary to uphold the dignity of the position.
@@Jackonly Some of the points you have mentioned I agree with, however it is difficult to assess the society if you do not participate in it. Especially, if you isolate yourself ( Judges are after all humans with all its strengths and weakness, In fact this is true for any professions). The professional training and unbringing usually teaches how to seperate the two and try and excel in both. I belive that is where the diffrence is, Not what the public figures display on the media.

Smita Absolutely fantastic excellent (short of many adjectives) Podcast. Former CJI spoke extremely well throughout the 2 hours . I wish it were much longer.
What he says is spot on regarding the different political influencers from right n left expecting the Judges to practice law as per their (influencers) convenience and advice. I have seen so many of them, rather arrogantly, explaining law to the Supreme court judges, masquerading as torchbearers of justice and true solidiers of the country.
At the same time, we need to bring back our jury system, why is Indian judiciary so arrogant to think that they can take a decision alone, while abroad 12 neutral people are needed, so what if they exonerated Nanavati
He should be renamed as Monkey katju. Most mean minded, foul mouthed, down to earth disrespectful person. Condemn the committee which selected katju as judge.
What Sibal has done to the society all knows. Appearing for hard core cortupt politicians and west Bengal government recently brought his dis repute and shame. All TN close and shut cases of Tamilnadu corrupt politicians are handled by sibal and he has no pardon from our society. Mr SC has no such black marks
This podcast makes the statements of the critiques more concrete, that former CJI never wanted to miss the limelight ! Those who are still in awe with former CJI should read a detailed report on him by Saurav Das. Though, I do admit, Chandrachud has been an exceptional actor. He has managed to instill the defacto of protecting constitution in people’s mind and playing indirectly for the ruling party on important judgements. Since Chandrachud is concerned about his legacy and the kind of judgements he has given, by now, it should be clear to him that hiding facts and truth is not easy job, even for a former CJI !
CJI is also human. Let's not make him responsible for all the ills. Let history judge him for his judgements and his actions in public life. But going to this particular podcast is not inspiring any confidence in the near future.
Worth the watch. Always maintaining decorum of his profession in highest regard. Avoid any controversy or conflict of interest debate or prejudicial statements on subjects esp about politicians and cases . Wish he continues his service in our country on other avenues preferably judicial reforms etc .

What a beautiful era we live in that such mesmerizing conversations are available to the common people which was an unprecedented premise before!
❤ Thanks to ANI and Mrs. Smita for fulfilling the yearning of Indian citizens
One problem is accountability of court and judges. Courts are not accountable to anyone, and I think that is a problem.
It is a good point. There is accountability in terms of integrity (impeachment), but no accountability in terms of their performance.
Courts are part of bureaucratic system. Just like bureaucratic have no accountability of spending and execution. Same goes for courts. 😂😂😂
Great explanation
It’s so good that he wants to be addressed by his first name and is not happy with ‘Lordship’. We as Indians must let go of this heirarchy and treat every other person as a human being.
If I had to take inspiration from current personalities It is definitely our former CJI DY Chandrachud. He inspire us how to follow responsibilities of your institution by kepting your personal bias aside. A rational thinking towards controversial issues Hatsoff to you Sir Thankyou for your service to the nation Jai Hind
Oh boy! Didn't know I would start to like or rather become a fan of a former CJI😅
Amazing podcast, great insights and man this guy is a jem.
Much awaited podcast
CJI Chandrachud should be awarded with Bharat Ratna or least Padma Vibhushan by govt of India for his contribution to judiciary system and bringing transparency to judiciary process. I tried to read almost every judgement passed by CJI and found so much word of wisdom over there . My favourite line from one of his judgement is -
“ The power of state is what the people give it . Freedom is not subject to power but power is answerable to freedom. “
He is truly a gem of person ♥️♥️♥️
And Samita madam please keep bringing more such intellectual mind and if may I request please bring SRK ❤️too on your show🤩
Both Dhananjay Chandrachud and Shah Rukh Khan are old Columbans (St Columba’s High School, New Delhi) as yours truly is.❤
Pathetic.
@ don’t judge because he didn’t deliver in your favour. Look at the larger picture in national interest.
sarcasm at its peak 😆
@ reality hits you harder 😅

बहुत बढ़िया जी
Chor bhi yhi kehta hai " kuch yo log khege log ka kaam h kehna" stupid
It was a wonderful listening. This is so interesting and a rare of rarest interviews of anyone I have watched the full length. I am impressed with his judgements delivered in Supreme Courts of India. God bless him.
This CJI should be given a special task of bringing efficiency (like Musk and Ramaswamy in the States) in all levels of judiciary and introduce technology!
Then, present a report with the financial requirements to implement the recommendations! If it means hiring more judges or needing to restructure in terms of how we dispose of cases, because status quo is unsustainable!😢
Smita ji- can't thank you enough for bringing this podcast. I have observed totally new side of cji which we would have never known.. respect for him has gone up significantly...
Excellent interview
Many thanks to Smita Madam and thanks to formar CJI ,Chandrachud. Sir
to clearly explaining total Judicial system working today, from lower courts to highest courts. and how judges think and judge about cases
Excellent conversation between Ms Smitha and the former CJI. Very much impressed with both for their questions and replies and particularly the choice of words by the CJI. I look forward to seeing more podcasts like this!!
Exactly 🎯 And the reason is that he became a judge due to sifarish of father judge and support from Congress
Good that u reminded him dinesh 😊
Sirf itna hi nahi, inhone ne dono taraf dhol bajaya hai.. Power tha, justice kar sakte the par nahi, bikna jaruri samjha. SSR, Jiah Khan, Disha saliyan, Andha bhi ab to dekhne laga aur bola ki ye murder hai, par humare judge sahab ne to Insaf ke devi ki murti ki tarah apne ankho pe aise patti bandhi ki nahi maine to kuch dekha hi nahi, janta ne saboot rakh diya, nahi wo bhi humne nahi dekha. janta cheek cheekh ke insaf mang rahi hai, par sorry judge sahab soo rahe the aur kuch sunayi nahi diya. Corrouption ho to humari country jaise. retirement ke baad clean chit nikal jate hai aur social media ke time me kuch PR aur kuch ankh wale andhe hote hai to unka kya hi kiya jaa sakta hai.
YOU & PALKI SHARMA BEST ANCHORS , LOGICAL , WOULD SAY A REAL GREAT EXAMPLE FOR FEMALES NOWDAYS AND LASTLY GREAT PODCAST . JAI SHREE RAM
@@Sam-su4ly Jai Sita Mata Ji Ki
She intervenes a lot , she should listen more
Not really. She has her own bundle of questions requiring answers. It is a conversation Not a lecture.
I was having so misconceptions about Justice Chandrachood, Respect sir . An eye opening discussion
He is the Best role model for the coming generations. ( Fantastic blend of modernity with cultural and national roots ). Soft and Powerful personality Best wishes to the Rtd. Chief Justice
Role model nhi hai bhai Bargainer hai. Isse pahle koi judge apni itni publicity nhi kiye. babri masjid case me kisi ko saza nhi diye, Electoral bind me bhi dono traf ki malai khaye hai ye. Inke abba ne faisla diya tha Adm Jabalpur wale case ma ki citizen ko life of Liberty nhi hai.
There was no live telecast of court procedings, wide spread use of social media and fast internet before too
@@rajjaha9556 I agree with you, but I believe that a judge should not be familiar with politicians or influential individuals.
@@Jackonly In electoral bonds he helped the congress and indi alliance allowing them to accept huge donations in cash which was not possible under electoral bonds
What a very well spoken❤ your calmness says it all. Not everyone’s cup of tea for sure. Kudos
India and Indians and me personally are honoured to have had such a visionary and informed honourable Chief Justice Sir Of India...who took so many initiatives for fare and speedy operations of Courts...and also was so thoughtful of the poor and needy...
Thank you for your dedicated Service Sir... and all the very best for your retirement Sir...🙏🙏💐💐
Kudos and Special Thanks to Smita Ma'am for the podcast...What a fantabulous podcasting journey...
What a spectacularly informative and well articulated interview! One of the best podcasts by far on youtube!
Please allow the completion of the train of thought of your interviewee. Interruption is very disturbing to the viewer.
Such a fine podcast ❤
Smita Prakash is acting like a teenager smitten with him- asking questions similar to the ones that Rajdeep Sardesai put to Sonia Gandhi-Chandrachud did NOTHING to reduce the backlog in courts, pondered to lawyers of his 'golfing club', and to top it all, dismissed the curative petition for probe into genocide of Kashmiri Hindus.
Wow enlightening , at time prakash used a phrase a to g ( she means z , by American phonetic) but the reference was well conceived by dyc and now when he had to refer that phrase he used a to z .
Becs he alawys has the clearity in mind that whom he is delivering for not to prakash but for the viewers such a calm and clear mind only focused to his aim
Great
Ex CJI Chandrachud always Transparent with the Clean mindset he maintains in his works.
Madam, thanks a lot for podcast with H.H. CJI ,D.Y.Chandrachud Saab .Shown through TH-cam.
Apart from being good judge he is the best human being that one aspires to become
Great interview! It was pleasure watching the long conversation non stop. My respect for Chandrachud!
He should be recognized with a state honour along with Dr. Jaishankar upon his retirement! Truly sons of the soil! ❤
Even Modiji should be given a Bharat Ratna; such people are only born once in a lifetime! ❤
Correct! Get him in cabinet

It is worth to watch. Excellent interview by ANI.
I've never been so much excited for a video. Let's goo.....
I just learnt a lot about this great person Justice Chandrachudji! Thank you Smitaji
Thank you SMITA JI for this conversation with ROCKSTAR EX CJI 👍❤️
So nice to see an ex-CJI giving interview. Kudos to you Smita ma'am. You have kept your style non-intimidating/non-insulting for the interviewee.
Why doesn't smita ask about hopelessly corrupt inefficient district courts of india with no infrastructure,
Thank you Smita for this impactful interview.
Mr Chandrachud is our nation's pride. With so much brains and beautiful soul.
Brilliant CJI
Lots of love 💕 sir 🙏♥️
India is going through greatest transformation in recent history. We need judges to move at the pace of our change. Justice Chandrachud has done a marvelous job.
TOO GOOD TO BE A GOOD JUDGE!! MY OPINION.
👍👍
🤡🤡🤡
❤❤yes
How many case he had solved ,and forgot about solve not even gave a single conclusion. ..
Dear Smita ma'am, the podcast was really informative. However, I think it's perhaps the first time that we have seen you interrupting the guest so many times. He's an absolutely erudite and eloquent speaker and would have loved to hear him fully. As delightful as the podcast was, I wish there were fewer interruptions.
Sorry to say but most corrupt and ineffective department jab yee CJI the kya kiya kuch nahi last me jate jate kuch result ki naam rahe history me Itne he ache hai to result kyo nahi dikhta hai
India most useless body useless department for common man
Smita
Absolutely fantastic excellent (short of many adjectives) Podcast. Former CJI spoke extremely well throughout the 2 hours .
I wish it were much longer.
Sir you r great. We follow you. Be always great.
this podcast is timeless, pure bliss
Best wishes for our loving Retd Chief Justice.
This was one of your best podcasts Smita
What he says is spot on regarding the different political influencers from right n left expecting the Judges to practice law as per their (influencers) convenience and advice. I have seen so many of them, rather arrogantly, explaining law to the Supreme court judges, masquerading as torchbearers of justice and true solidiers of the country.
At the same time, we need to bring back our jury system, why is Indian judiciary so arrogant to think that they can take a decision alone, while abroad 12 neutral people are needed, so what if they exonerated Nanavati
His voice is so soothing ! He has definitely excelled in being a perfect human alongside being a perfect cheif justice of india ! 🇮🇳
Stop interrupting ma'am, he is sharing an insightful knowledge and experience.
they both are doing their part, her part is to question to get more insight in particular topics.
ANDHBHAKT!!
This interview is a goldmine not only for people with legal backgrounds but for every Indian citizen.
Markenday Katju and Kapil Sibal's discussion is a must listen to have a 360 degree view.
Truth is not always 360 degree, 360 degree is mostly monkey balancing
He should be renamed as Monkey katju. Most mean minded, foul mouthed, down to earth disrespectful person. Condemn the committee which selected katju as judge.
What Sibal has done to the society all knows. Appearing for hard core cortupt politicians and west Bengal government recently brought his dis repute and shame. All TN close and shut cases of Tamilnadu corrupt politicians are handled by sibal and he has no pardon from our society. Mr SC has no such black marks
Thank you for bringing him to podcast. Very informative podcast.
My lordship...Extraordinary Human being... Extraordinary judge...What a Man..
One of the most corrupt judge, kindly look at RG Kar case
@@anirbandas2002 he himself given answer to your question in the video i.e if it is not in your favour it is corrupt..so obvious ..
Easily one of the best videos on TH-cam in recent times
We have to find a way to use his talent and acumen in day to day governance..
