I know you are going to stuff them! Something I picked up in my sewing...that if you have scrap batting, to line one side with it. It makes the stuffing easier and smoother to stuff.

I make them, in a as clean environment, possible. As a patient also, understand the need and concern.
My hospital suggested, I put a note inside that they are not sterile and for patient to hand wash and dry before use.
Also I gift them in a plastic zip lock with the note.
Keep sewing, they need them. Been sewing them for 3 years!!

That's a fantastic idea! Yes when I packaged them up in the final box there was a note inside (which I could have included in the video), and then I believe the organization I sent them to is noting that they were handmade so patients understand the potential cross-contamination. That's fantastic you have been sewing them and donating them as well!

I see these regularly in our cancer center. I don’t have a port yet but may need one soon. I’ll be sure to grab one for my car then.

My family member said it really helped her take some of the pressure from her port. She had one in the car and then one on her purse strap. If you do need to get a port, I wish you all the best in your journey! ☺

So port pillows really are useful? I made one in a different style for a co-worker going thru chemo, but never got any feedback... Plan on making one for another co-worker's husband. I'd like to make more to donate now I know they really do help the patient's comfort... ❤

I got feedback originally from my grandmother, who said it really helped on her car seatbelt but at the time it was hard to tell if she was just saying that to be nice to me or if it actually did😂 then I went to visit her for a few days and you could tell it really did help her. We had to go in a different car one day and she didn’t have the port pillow, and she kept readjusting her seat belt (she’s incredibly thin from the chemo treatments now so the pressure was more intense for her). When I reached out to the Hirschberg foundation they said they have gotten a lot of positive feedback about port pillows so I think they do help!!❤️ i plan on making another round to send out to them in November of this year since it was such an easy project. That’s so nice you have made them for your coworker, and plan to make more☺️

@@Sewemmydesigns Thank you so much for the reply & sharing your story! ❤️ Just got done making one & a tablet holder for my co-worker's husband. I'm a novice sewist & plan on trying your method next. Thank you for the encouragement... 🙏

Chemo patients often have weak immune systems. It is really not a good idea to give them things that have been on the floor and around animals.

Definitely agree! They were washed using free and gentle detergent after I finished making them so they were packaged out clean
