    Bless you for even attempting to make Loubis remotely comfortable. The ultimate hack is just having someone carry you around! Jokes aside, this was a great video. You have a beautiful heel collection.

    I'm a high heel wearer and have been using these tips for years. They definitely work. Taping the toes together alleviates the pressure on that nerve running between those two toes that can cause pain. It works so well. Great video!

    Knowing your foot shape can drastically help as well. I used to fit specialty dance shoes for a living and shape is EVERYTHING. When you purchase your shoes you need to know not only what length you foot is but also the width, and the shape of your toes. If you have a wider foot and a brand is notorious for running narrow that will make your shoes uncomfortable. If your feet are narrow and the shoes run wide then they will slip. If you have square toes, your pointier shoes are most likely going to pinch and if you have tapered toes, less pointed styles can lead to sliding forward in your shoes resulting in crunching your toes at the front and letting the heel slip in the back. Now that doesn't mean you are confined to a specific type of shoe because of your shape, but knowing your shape you can make smarter decisions and better know what will be needed to break in your shoes and make them more comfortable. 😊

      How can one know your foot shape? Is there a tutorial you recommend? Or are you just saying to measure length and width

    • @lindanicholls5036
      @lindanicholls5036 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Rachael The Red Unfortunately shoe manufacturers only make standard shapes and sizes. I haven't been able to get shoes that fit properly since we went over to continental sizes. If I could afford it I would have my shoes made.

    • @Cesiaj
      @Cesiaj 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Star HR yes it definitely helps to get your foot length and width. Some shoe brands (particularly those that sell online) now include sole width in their specs, along with guide on how to measure your feet, which helps a bit if you want to know whether your toes will fit. Just google search foot/shoe size chart and you’ll be able to get the instructions.

      Will you go shoe shopping with me? I have about a 2/3 failure rate when buying shoes! I have triangular duck feet, wide at toes, very narrow at mid-foot and heels.

  • @caileyjablonski6740

    The reason taping the toes works is because there's a nerve the runs in between them and taping the nerve can alleviate pain caused by pressure and stretching it uncomfortably! Dancers have been using this tip for a while and I'm glad someone finally suggested it for mainstream shoe-wearing :)

    Here's two old school tips my mama taught me. 1. Wear hosiery. Heels are much easier to wear with hosiery, than without. 2. Vaseline your feet, whether you wear hose or not. Also, buy shoes with a cushioned footbed. All my heels are cushioned!

    For the blister stick alternative, I just use plain old vaseline. I keep a tiny one in my purse. You can also use any old lip balm for the lubrication; just don’t mix it up with the lip balm for your lips.
    For the shoe pads, I sometimes have problems with them sliding around, so I super glue them down. Just make sure the glue is fully dried before you wear them. Maybe you wouldn’t want to do this for designer/luxury shoes but works great for like Sam Edelman’s.

    Wow, how wonderful and thank you for the tips, especially the stretch spray. My little tip - to avoid your toes sliding forward in your cute sandals(heels) during Spring and Summer is to spray a little hair spray on foot bed/toes OR the insole bed of shoe. Once, slightly dry, position foot in shoe to avoid hanging toes.😁. I love it when I can share something. Fun video and so helpful TFS💕

    One amazing pair of heels I have came with this separate bonus strap. It was a rhinestone pump but if you wanted to you could wrap this matching rhinestone leather strap around your ankle and under the shoe for support. For the next few years these were my favourite pair as the ankle strap helped me to wear them comfortably to break them in. Or I could look cute in just the pump for pictures and add the straps a little later while dancing for more support and to keep the heel on. These type of things can purchase separately or you can even find inexpensive clear ones for extra support. I highly recxomend

    I 100% would add hosiery to this list. I only have a few pairs of heels at the moment (my shoe collection is sorely lacking in several areas lol) but for my pumps I wont wear them without wither no-show socks or (preferably) knee-high hose. I have never really liked full hose (I have come to realize that may be because they were always a little too small) but knee-high hose are a game changer with pumps and other dress shoes. I know they are "out of style" for most of the current generation but as someone in my 20s I think it is one of the lost secrets of comfortable dress shoes. Thigh-highs are also perfect for slightly shorter skirts if you don't want to see the top of the hose.
    Another note: I used an insert on a new pair of shoes I thought was shockingly too big (it seemed like a whole size or even size and a half jump from the half size down), turns out my foot was sliding too far into the toe area and with a grip to keep me in the right place they fit perfectly! the heel protectors are also great for this and I used some for a shoe that was slightly wide in the heel, again now they fit perfectly and are my favorite "everyday" pumps.
    I prefer lower heels but all these tips are great for getting our shoes to as close to customized as we can get!

    I'm currently breaking in some Tory Burch flats that were discontinued but on sale at an outlet store. They didn't have my size and thought the half size smaller fit, until I realized how much pain it was when I wore them to dinner & obviously couldn't return after wearing.
    The dryer technique was too long and boring for me. But, I took some plastic baggies & squeezed them well into my flats, then poured water in them & put them in the freezer, so the water expanding would stretch the shoe. I left it for over a day. Then I wore them cold in my bedroom until they warmed up to normal (with thick socks).
    Then I started wearing them as house slippers for short periods, sometimes with socks.
    Plus, again wearing them regular to class where I knew I'd be sitting most of the time anyways.
    It's much more bearable now, but still not fully comfortable after hours of wear. I will continue using them as house slippers though

    Very useful tips !!!! What about shoe sizing ? I always go for true to size, tight fit, however I have noticed many girls wearing bigger shoes than their actual size and you can see it because there is quite a bit of space at the back of the shoe but the shoes stay on and the heel doesn't slip. Any idea how to achieve this effect ? Bigger shoes obviously don't pinch you on the sides and the toe but how to make sure they stay put when you walk on them ?

    Years ago when I was younger and I wore 5 and 6 inch heels we used to wet a hand cloth and jam it into the shoe over night then take it out and let the shoe dry for a day. The moisture speeds up the "stretching out" of your shoe. I suppose it mimics the moisture feet give off and instead of waiting weeks for your feet to perspire in the shoes and dry out so the shoe eventually fits, you can do it in a day. Great when you have a wedding or a dance or new school shoes where you only have a day or two to prepare for an event.

    My feet are sweaty and often slide down making gaps at the back of my heels; and as a result, my shoes often slip off when I walk. As a remedy, I insert panty liners in my shoes to absorb the sweat or apply, what we call in the Philiipines, tawas powder to lessen the sweating. I did get something useful from your hacks - heel guards. Thanks for the tip. ☺️

I have a pair of heels I love but but after an hour or so of wearing and walking in them they start sliding down off my heel with every step and it's extremely uncomfortable. After that I start having to walk so slowly while taking deliberately careful steps just to keep them from coming off. So frustrating! I invested in wooden boot stretchers, they are a big help. I got the boot ones because they can be used with boots and all other shoes, shoe stretchers can’t be used with boots. They have metal buttons that can be added to get extra stretch in particular tight spots, a great feature for me. I think the Brand is called Foot Fitter and they are available on Amazon, at least here in the US. Socks stretch the whole shoe, but I only want stretch in the toe area, so I wear padded half-peds instead. I don’t know what they called elsewhere, but here peds are those nylon-stocking weight foot covers one wears when trying on shoes in the shop, and similar foot covers, but better quality, for adding a thin foot covering inside shoes while wearing.

    Thanks, Amie. The blow dryer trick definitely works! What you have to do is wear the shoe, and put weight on it, until it cools down. Then repeat a few times. The heat on the leather allows it to stretch but it's wearing it while it cools that determines how the leather molds. I definitely recommend wearing socks because one, your foot will burn, and two, to help stretch increase the foot size as you mentioned. And you have to stand the whole time it's cooling, otherwise the pressure points of your foot won't be expanded and stretching the leather in those particular spots.

    🌸 2:46 the shoe on display will always cause issues with your foot
    The heal needed to have that bit that comes down in curve
    Check all your shoes, if heal doesn’t have that fat bit at base and gently slant inwards then it will not support your foot properly and will be too much pressure on your heal. Check out good quality made shoes vs cheaply made ones you will soon notice what I am describing
