I really enjoyed your video. Quick moving, pleasant to listen to. Easy to understand. I felt like I was in your warm kitchen watching you work. I grew up on these. Looking forward to eating them this Christmas. Thank you!

Thank you for sharing these look delicious! I can’t wait to give them a try! I’m allergic to 🍊 oranges so I’m going to double the 🍋 lemon. I’m also hoping that, since we’re not drinkers in this house 🤷🏻‍♀️, that replacing the rum with vanilla extract won’t change the taste too much. Thanks again & I hope that you & your family had a wonderful Christmas! I’m wishing you a Happy New Year too! It’s got to be better than 2020 🤞🏻! Please stay safe 😷

      Hi Ann,
Yes double Lemon is fine .. we are not Drinkers either , so I get that. I use Alcohol to bake and cook with though; as it evaporates and leaves behind a great flavour boost in some recipes. Having said that Vanilla is almost always a perfect substitute! well done.!
God bless You and keep you safe in 2021.

My Lithuanian grandmother made these especially at Christmas. She used cardamom also. Great with tea. 🎉.

Do I have to use the Brandy and the lemon and orange zest?

You can always do your own thing. But the brandy and orange peel is the highlight to the flavour breakthrough here.

I have everything on hand but lemon . Do you think doubling the orange zest would be good?

Thank you so much for this! It helps so much to see how they are formed. Can the dough be made in advance and refrigerated or frozen, then thawed, rolled and fried?

Do you know what these are called in other European countries? My dad was Slovenian and I believe they were called something like "sveeny-ooh-sciki".

Wish I had seen this video yesterday, I used my Bobcia's recipe and it's literal garbage. She was a lovely woman, but a terrible cook.
