  • Steelhead fishing has been a childhood dream of mine that I thought would never come true unless I went abroad.
More than 20 years ago, when I went to Yamagata to fish for cherry salmon, I caught a rainbow trout, which I thought was a steelhead. This was my first encounter with steelhead.
Since then, I have been thinking about steelhead fishing in Japan.
In fact, this is the main reason why I decided to move to Hokkaido.
I know it is very difficult to catch steelhead within the limits of Hokkaido's recreational fishing regulations.
I hesitate to even stand on the river during the harsh winter season...but I feel that there is a charm that can only be experienced during this season.
I enjoy this fishing very much, chasing my dream.
I would like to bet the rest of my fishing life on this fishing.

Wow, I love steelhead fishing. You catch some Dolly Varden too I see. Your video is excellent !!!! Please check out my channel for fishing videos. I have steelhead videos from Washington State. I assume this is in Hokaido. Fly fishing in the cold weather like that really takes skill and good equipment. I am impressed.
