In search of Japanese steelhead Vol.5

Steelhead fishing has been a childhood dream of mine that I thought would never come true unless I went abroad.
More than 20 years ago, when I went to Yamagata to fish for cherry salmon, I caught a rainbow trout, which I thought was a steelhead. This was my first encounter with steelhead.
Since then, I have been thinking about steelhead fishing in Japan.
In fact, this is the main reason why I decided to move to Hokkaido.
I know it is very difficult to catch steelhead within the limits of Hokkaido's recreational fishing regulations.
I hesitate to even stand on the river during the harsh winter season...but I feel that there is a charm that can only be experienced during this season.
I enjoy this fishing very much, chasing my dream.
I would like to bet the rest of my fishing life on this fishing.

水温が相当低そうに見えました。この時期にシーズン終盤というと、一回一回の釣りが過酷におもえました。

毎年12月から3月いっぱいはスチールヘッドを狙っています。もちろん水は冷たいですが、それ以上に冬の川は景色がいいです。晴れた日はキリッとして気持ちが良いものですよ。
