Nice job. Im also not a fan of big, squishy recoil pads and prefer the old school butt plates. To anyone watching, you can use the same method to address stripped out butt plate screw holes too. I always use grease to lube the screws but the wax works fine too. Ill note too that I always seal the end grain of the stock because water will get in there and if the end grain isnt sealed the stock will swell.
@krockpotbroccoli65 I tought of that too. However hunting in light rain won't hurt it. And unless its submerged I can't see it getting enough water in there to swell. Thanks for watching
Great vid! Personally I like rubber butt pads, and I’d definitely get that thing threaded for a muzzle brake or suppressor, anything I can do to get the least amount of recoil. Anything to help spot impacts. But, that’s the great thing about this hobby. Everyone has their own preferences! However That’s a great caliber! Your daughter will love it. I’ve got mine shooting the beloved 6.5 needs more lol! 🍻
Great Job on this. I have a few dried out ones on guns. Thanks. Great winter project for me.

Thank you for walking through the upgrade on that rifle.

Looks Awesome! If you take a propane torch to it applying just enough heat to not melt it, it well bring the butplate to a nice shine.
@danarcher very possible, I am happy with the results so I don't want to risk trying that.
