Winston genuinely wants for harmony in New Zealand for all peoples ! My Mother told me to keep an eye on Winston he is a freedom fighter for all peoples . he wants to do right for all cultures in New Zealand and not a select few !! we need to stop the division in New Zealand !! if we keep Maori and European separate we will always have animosity and never have harmony !! Yes we need to give a more equal opportunity for all cultures !! WE NEED TO MOVE ON FROM THE PAST IF WE ARE TO MOVE INTO A PRESENCE OF ONENESS IN THIS COUNTRY !!

How about the Pakeha just go back to England, give land back to Maori(ordinary) who are actually tangata whenua(people of the land). and if your a believer, i'm believer too. God
almighty guided the people of Hawaii,Taiwan,Malaysia,Melonesians, aboriginals to this land to dwell and mix to form a new race called Maori. Pakeha got in the way and started preaching corruption(catholic), there even some stories of Pakeha soldiers killing innocent at churches, those who fired those guns at the new converted were also christian ????. Maori(Hawaiian,Taiwanese,Malaysean,Melonese,Aboriginal) were indeed here centuries before Pakeha arrived and deserve to have full-control. If you disagree, I'll consider IIIyuk😁 All in favor say Ush(oosh)😁

Interesting interview. It disturbs me that Julian and for that matter the Maori elite can’t acknowledge that the day the ToW was signed, slavery ceased (legally) to exist in New Zealand. That was for me of greater meaning than trying to re-invent the ‘meaning’ of one word in Article 2.

Interesting that Winston alludes to Sir Āpirana Ngata whom, along with other notable Māori leaders, studied at Te Aute college. Here, young Māori boys were taught subjects that enabled them to further their education at university level to become doctors, lawyers, and even politicians.
Winston is right to praise the accomplishments of Ngata but what he doesn't mention is that in 1906 a Royal Commission of Inquiry recommended that the teaching of certain subjects that allowed students to go on to university be discontinued. The promotion of subjects relating to manual labour for farmwork would be encouraged instead.

Very fair debate.Tje constitution and the treaty of Waitangi I am a Pacific woman but I have Maori relatives as well.2016 I studied Te Tiriti o Waitangi. I beleive every country have their own history. The friendship and partnership through the treaty of Waitangi has brought new Zealand and other Pacific country to reunite as multi cultural new Zealand..The main purpose of the treaty is a piece of legislation to protect all Maori right and their lands.Acciording to Winston legacy I believed that he loved his people dearly. But he can't change the legislation and the The The Tiriti o Waitangi..It is very complex In the other hand politician is always interfere with human right .Intermarriages is a huge contribution to New Zealand..Winston Peters is another human being that strive himself to correct this error in history.Abd I don't have any judgement.Nobody can take over his position and his success .May the peace of the lord will help the media to understand what this man is talking about. This guy Wilcox tried his level best to discredit Peter's but, Winston's too clever for this guy. Example, how can Willcox fudge around the amount of maori in Prisons? He should be looking for the answers not fueling the situation and blaming everyone else. Some facts for You Mr. Wilcox. There is NO partnership for maori with the Crown, never has never will be. Maori released Sovereignty to the crown when their fractured chiefs signed the TOW. There is NO such thing as maori owning water, the water ways the sea or sea bed same as the airwaves, maori have done pretty well out of todays taxpayer for somethings that happened 150 years ago, most tribes (in fact all tribes ) have been paid out (compensated) 5 times since signing the TOW, are they content? No they want more. I can tell you now Mr. Wilcox if it were up to me maori wouldn't get another cent out of the taxpayer and TV/radio stations that couldn't pay their way would be gone. You for one would be looking for a new job. Now stick that up your interview.

The truth is this economic model in NZ is nonsense socialist dogshit and doesn't work.
