And at the end of it, the only way to save the universe was for her to sacrifice her own life and enter a dimensional gate from which she could not return. Poor Hotaru. All the bad things that happened to her throughout her time in the series. It makes her one of my favorite anime characters of all time.

sadly she represents Saturn, the planet of hard life lessons,time,karma, wisdom and overall strict growth.
