      It does. I checked today for January and it was £35 a night up from £25. That's about the correct price point for this place IMO. Holiday Inn express was slightly cheaper than the amber for the dates I checked. It was the other way round when this video was filmed.

    Any reviews on the Flipper house hotel? i’m coming over 2nd week of November not sure weather to book at the flipper house hotel or the Amber hotel 😊

    • @BigFatBesty
      @BigFatBesty  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've never stayed at flipper house. If you like soi 7 and 8 and beach road, I would go for flipper. If you like soi buakhao and treetown then I'd plump for the amber. I would expect the amber to be around 50 percent more than flipper cost wise. Flipper is a pretty old property.

    • @BigFatBesty
      @BigFatBesty  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'd consider black woods if you are looking to stay in the same area as flipper, should be around the same price as amber and black woods is a very nice hotel.

    • @BigFatBesty
      @BigFatBesty  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Vlad, it's a bit of a trek to walking street but there are motorbike taxis right outside the hotel which will take you to walking street for 50 baht or you can take the baht bus south on buakhao which will take you to the second road end of walking street for the usual 10 baht. I'll be staying at the Amber again in February. I liked it a lot.

    I know chances of getting there for the first time are unlikely before Mar/Apr at best , but i have a question for u big guy , how safe are these room safes , or would u suggest a better option is an hotel with boxes at a 24 hour reception hotel , just hate the thought of returning to the room at end of day one to find the contents of the room safe gone , they dont look like they would take much to break into

    • @BigFatBesty
      @BigFatBesty  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good question. I've personally never had a problem with either an in room safe or a safety deposit box in 19 years of going to Thailand but you are right, some of the safes perhaps aren't all that safe. That said, the doors to your room should be so I guess it's how much you trust the housekeeping. There is also the chance that the reception area is left unattended if you are using a safety deposit box. To be honest, I don't know of many hotels of a decent standard which don't have in room safes these days. In fact most decent guesthouses have in room safes, I know the fever bar rooms in lk metro had in room safes when I stayed there a couple of years ago.

    • @seanmolloy2030
      @seanmolloy2030 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BigFatBesty thanks big guy , ur experiences at least reassure me that Thailand is much like anywhere else , on the whole honest however like everywhere in the world uk included there is always that risk, best thing is to stick with hotels such as this were its likely u only have to worry about hotel staff which i imagine in the main are reliable . I suppose the main reason i asked was because of all the accommodation videos i have looked at the one i liked most was i think called crystal suites , room was good as was price , location was awesome but there seemed to be more ppl wandering around than on Blackpool prom on a bank holiday weekend, thanks again and here's hoping this vaccine gets us back to normal soon , very soon

      For what it is worth , I have stayed at the Adelphi a few times. Very good hotel , with a fine breakfast. Nice roof top pool. I gave it away purely on price. It is expensive compared to other equal standard hotels.The staff were all tremendous , and if it matters , no joiner fee , just book for two , and take it from there.

Yes, 4 days sounds about right, take a break from eating street food, I love it too but after having gastronitis, it's a lesson learned, also were both very lucky that we didn't have to catch our flight home while we were going through it.
