so I was subscribed but notifications werent on. Thank you Tim. As someone who'd never get these opportunities to visit a Gen Con due to my job and the country I live in its great to live vicariously thru your vids and experiences
Love to see Unmatched, Dungeon Cart and Age of Innovation here!! Those are definitely some of the ones we're excited for out of the rest. Great video, as always!! - G
Redwood looks super cool and the mechanic kinda reminds me of how shadow works in Photosynthesis! Nice to see designers trying something new instead of doing the usual and just slapping together a bunch of popular mechanics and seeing what fits.
Hadn't heard of Queen by Midnight but the multi dice dice tower looks fascinating. I'm not sure how much Age of Innovation mixes things up but Terra Mystica is an all time favorite of mine, check it out if you get the chance (personally I prefer it over Gaia)
I was at Gencon, I was going to say Hi, but you were in the middle of running a game. Glad you had a good time. My big pick up for the next game night was Thunder Road Vendetta. I did try Dungeon Kart, there was a little too much going on and it got people trapped, would have been nice if the bases matched the hex grid as your direction was important. Thanks for another great video.
AH that's super nice of you to drop by though!! Let me know what you think of Thunder Road Vendetta-it's kinda on my radar but just wondering what everyone's thinking about it! Ohhh ok-i feel like with the introduction of more mechanics in Dungeon Kart vs. in heat, it may be more suited towards playing the game over and over again to try and maintain proper positioning/momentum, especially since the game ends in only one lap! It does make me curious though about how punishing it would be Thanks for watching!
Queen By Midnight is definitely my #1, too. The first I'd heard of it was in a GenCon preview video that Paula Deming did, and the Dice Throne comparison got me very excited for it. I've got a preorder in at my FLGS. Can't wait for it!
I picked up Queen by Midnight Friday morning after getting in line with the mass of people around 9am. I was just going to check it out, but after seeing a line already forming a minute after opening, I decided to buy it because I have a couple co-workers who love Critical Role. I also waited in line for Lorcana, but I was about 195 in line around 5:50am Saturday morning. We heard about the Thursday 6pm lineup, and we didn’t want to sit in line for 16 hours, but I think once the extremely rare card was found there wasn’t as much craze, so we noticed not as many people in line Friday night/ Saturday morning, so we did about 4 1/2 hours of waiting until we got our stuff. Thanks for the recap - it was my first time at Gen Con and I had a lot of fun.
When you started talking about Dungeon Cart, I thought for sure you were going to say REM Racers. Corvus Belli Infinity was demoing it at Gen Con as well and it sounds very similar with asymmetric racers. REM Racers also has a cool anime style and a spacial puzzle aspect I really like. I been calling it Mario Kart, the board game as well. I think it is coming straight to retail this fall.
do you have an app or website with all the games you have in your collection or that you mention in your videos? I'd love to see what's in your collection
I'm also excited to know more about Queen By Midnight! But it's funny, i feel like I haven't heard anyone really talking about it, so im surprised to hear that it was the hot ticket at Gen Con.
GenCon was amazing. I saw you teaching a game a lucky duck I think so I refrained from saying hi, did not want to bother everyone. I also said nope to Lorcana.
Think of Terra Mystica as a system. Terra Mystica and Gaia Project use the same system and it would help you if you played one of those games to understand what's going on in Age on Innovation. Age of Innovation looks complex at first glance but once you read the rulebook and understand the concepts of how everything works together, it looks like a really fun version of Terra Mystica.
AH! this makes more sense! Ok i think i'm gonna try to find a copy of terra mystica first before diving into age of innovation, only bc i have a habit of doing things in proper sequence 🤣 thanks so much for the tips!
Getting excited for Disney Lorcana to go to retail is like getting excited to pay scalpers triple the price for a basic starter deck 😐...and you really need a minimum of two of the same starter decks for the strategy to work more often.
Thanks so much for the Dungeon Kart shoutout, Tim!

Yes you should definitely should get into the Terra line of games. If you want something less heavy but an easy jump in. Start with terra nova :)
OHHH these look so fun man- im definitely getting copies of the terra games soon 🔥

Thanks for the Dungeon Kart love, Tim! It was great to see you at our booth
YESSS so excited!!! Thanks for taking time to show me Dungeon Kart!
Happy birthday, Tim!!! 🎉 Thanks for all the hard work you put in to create amazing content that helps so many of us!
Redwood looks super cool and the mechanic kinda reminds me of how shadow works in Photosynthesis! Nice to see designers trying something new instead of doing the usual and just slapping together a bunch of popular mechanics and seeing what fits.
Yeah it looks super fun! so glad they're experimenting with fun new mechanisms!

Thanks for Redwood in the second place and your nice words about the game :-)

I am stoked to see you sneak in some Dwellings of Eldervale. I remember seeing that clip in your stories.♥️♥️♥️

I simply loved the mini reviews! I got interested in almost all the games after watching it lol
There actually is a photography centered game already: Wild Serengeti.
Ooooo root! Some heavy games you played this weekend!
surprisingly we got two back to back heavier games in the middle of gen con! so rad

Oh wow! Really looking forward to checking out Mario…Dungeon Cart! Thanks for sharing your thoughts

Ah I don’t yet! I will be making one later this year once I get a few more games from the shelf of shame played/filmed though 🔥
I'm also excited to know more about Queen By Midnight! But it's funny, i feel like I haven't heard anyone really talking about it, so im surprised to hear that it was the hot ticket at Gen Con.

Aw, man! I hated that we missed seeing you!

@@TimChuonI suggest you try them in the following order:
Clans of Caledónia -> Terra Mystica -> Age of Inovation
@@TimChuonGaia Project, I only recomend it for people who prefer less player interaction.
I can’t find any information about Dungeon Cart outside of this video. Odd they don’t have a BGG page yet if it’s launching on crowdfunding soon 🤔

I'm most excited about Books of Time and Emerge
Queen by midnight looks cool but how are the mechanics
Woot!
Dune Imperium uprising!
No Emerge :(
