I saw these in your other video and immediately bought them for my garage/workshop. I love them. I didn’t realize how much the previous poor lighting made me not want to go out there. I’m currently moving to a new home and, when I settle in, I’m doing it all over again. Cheap, easy and awesome.
Just added these to my garage that is also my workshop about a month ago and the difference is amazing! They have been on for sometimes 12-13 hours a day with no issues.
Replaced my fluorescent fixture with a set of these my third bay garage shop. Perfect lighting. Easy install. I used the wiring for the fluorescents to install an outlet box, which kept the lights on the light switch.
One additional tip I would make is that the bare led can give a bit of a glare (was really annoying on short ceiling where my eye would catch it even when not looking up). To combat this I got some diffusion film and it really helped.
Based upon your shop video where you added them to your garage, i did the same thing and have loved every day since. The small two car garage was only being lit by ONE tiny light bulb and now has SIX 4' LED lights. The install was simple and was a fraction of the cost of buying them from a big box store. Thanks again for the recommendation and keep perusing Shop Greatness!
Last weekend I replaced three old flickering fluorescent lights with four 4ft LED lights! Great improvement! But the brand you used look better with the two rows of lights. Still for under $50 I am very happy. And I can daisy chain some more later for those far corners. Thank you for your channel! Tom Back in Texas
I actually purchased the same lights after watching your last video and I absolutely love them. Super simple to install and way more light than what I originally had.
I purchased and installed eight, eight footers for my two car garage a couple months back (10 and a half foot ceilings), and am very pleased with them. No issues. No dead lights on arrival. I approve this product.
These lights are awesome! After I saw your first video about them I immediately bought some for my basement workshop. It has made a night and day difference! Especially important for filming so I made sure to do that as soon as I could. Thanks for the tip and the motivational videos!
I put up the Barrina 4' LED Fixtures (6-pack) & what a difference from 4 florescent fixtures. I only installed 5 in my shop, but what a difference. The 6th one was put up in the garage. They all work great & the light is so much better now...
This was helpful! I was also looking for design layout planning - there must be a method to how many needed per sq Ft., whether to run all parallel or not etc.
Perfectly timed video for me. I was just talking to my wife this weekend about how we could get more light fixtures in our storage room in the basement. I’m now jumping over to Amazon to order those lights and I think that will be my Saturday project this week. Thanks for another great video!
These are awesome lights! I put 16 of them in my 3 car garage and there aren’t any shadows anywhere except when the garage doors are up. Well worth the investment. I also went with the cable channel and it looks so clean. I wished I would’ve taken the time make sure everything was lined up. On well. I’m looking down when working so it doesn’t bother me much.
For a smaller space, or even faster install, get one of the adjustable LED sets that just screw into the socket. You usually see them in garages. They come in nice bright (5000K) color. And various amounts of lumens.
Love these! The exact same ones I have in my shop. The brightness you get is insane. And the ease of installing multiple different ways is a nice option, too.
I used the 8' version of these lights in my garage workshop I'm building. Daylight color and 8' lights everywhere has been a major improvement for my (future) shop.
Hey Travis. Back when I first saw your video of installing lights in your Texas garage, I installed the 8' version of them in my garage. That was January of 2020. Since that time, every light strip has MANY LEDs burned out. I'm talking 15-20 per. These things are dying at an alarming rate, and if you look at the reviews on Amazon, you'll see that this is happening to lots of other people. I've contacted the seller, and they have agreed to send me replacements under the 3 year warranty, but I'm sure those lights will fail in 2 years time as well. Replacing these lights every few years is basically renting them, which I'm not on board with. I think it's time to find another, better option. Just letting you know.
Great video, I'm researching now for an upgrade to my garage - future site of my workshop. I know you do tons of research so your endorsement carries a lot of weight. Since you've already used this product before and you are going back to it today says a lot to me. Keep up the GREAT work. Hopefully we get a Subscriber update on the next one due to growth. Wishing you continued success!
I didn't think about just using an outlet bulb adapter... that saves me from having to deal with the mess of wires in my one light in the laundry room.
My house had 2 light bulbs in the back corners of a 400+ sf garage, and it was... dark. I replaced them with 4 of this style LED light and man, what a difference!! For the next week, I would pop into the garage, turn the lights on and just stare at how good the lighting was. It's not only much brighter, but the coverage is so much better.
Thanks Travis. I just added 2 led lights in my garage. I have a 24 × 24 garage. I am going to add 2 more and after that, I can perform open heart surgery in my garage. Lol. Thanks. Love your channel. Your reviews are awesome. You actually use TV them for a year or to. I dont need some moron unboxing the item and tell me about the package and Shipping. I'm still pursuing SHOP GREATNESS
Bought the lights in our garage from your first video and we love them! Our basement needs them too, how did you arrange the lights around where you are going to put your bench press?
Thank you. With the link you provided for the product I was able to determine the amount of amps drawn by each light. I am looking to illuminate a large crawl space under a home and was curious on how many of these I can put up. Did the product instruction happen to mention a total number of lights that could be strung together using the wires provided? My guess would be the provided wire rather than the power supplying wire would be the limiting factor.
Convinced and purchased! Thanks for the instructions and inspiration! I think that was a perfect illustration of the basement - everyone has experienced a basement that is just not bright enough. The before and after was fantastic. I can't wait to get these mounted in my garage!
I bought these lights for every room in my basement and garage and they are awesome! The only difference is the i purchased the 8' version, not the 4' like the video. Regardless its like night and day. Huge difference and very bright.
I thought the shadow under your hat was for effect until after the reveal (to show how dark it was down there). I was wrong :p You need some portable lighting for situations like these :) Not complaining. Great video and I used similar lights in my attic and was a night and day difference....almost quite literally!
I just moved into a new house and the crawlspace is horrible and restricted. I have a lot of work to do down there but the first thing I want is some light. Thanks for the ideas!
I was amazingly lucky and grabbed a few led fixtures from the canadian tire store here for $10, same idea but without the different plug options. Looking back, I should of bought the pallet of lights they had lol
Only issue you should mention is that these are NOT UL listed. So their quality could be shoty long term. Id recommend if you get them to at least plug them into a GFCI outlet.
I believe they sell a single pack or at least a double pack. I’ve been using mine for 9 months now and they are fantastic! By far my favorite shop lights.
Travis how do these compare to the screw in fixtures you have in the garage? Once you are settled in your shop space will you be considering different lighting?
I think I may like these just a tad more only because you get more consistent light coverage when spread out. The screw in fixtures in my garage are pretty dang awesome though too
My basement is 6' to the bottom of the 2x6 floor joists with 4x6 beams perpendicular below them. Any tips on mounting them between the joists vs below the joists? I am 6' 4" and don't like anything below the 2x6's if possible.
I have the same lights. (they were given to me) I want to install a plug. There are three wires on supplied pig tail that came with lights. What wire goes where on plug to be installed. I had no instructions with lights.
How many do you have connected in one run? The amazon page says to only connect 5 but they sell a 6 pack. Curious if that only affects longevity or it's an actual concern
The trend of commercials for sponsors that go 2 minutes is annoying. I realize that you are compelled to peddle the products and I'm also very thankful for the jump ahead option. Good DIY video.
For some reason most of the bulb outlet adapters are only two prong. The barrina plug in is three prong. FYI if anyone is looking to go that route to check for this.
Really enjoy the video and remember the ones you did in your previous location too. Question: Do you do a lot of post processing or use auxiliary lighting on your videos for the CRI with these lights? I have just been trying to figure out the real world difference between >80 and > 90 CRI when it comes to video recordings?
Only problem with the Barrina LEDs are they're not dimmable. I want to put them in my basement office, which doesn't have an especially high ceiling, and I don't want to blast the area with too much light unless that is what I need for the moment. I really need those dimmable ones, anyone have a good source or idea for this?
The Barrina lights are easy and cheap but mine began to fail one-by-one in about 1 year. Might be OK if it was just one or two but they are all failing. Just my comment on the product.
Bob you're not alone! I have gone through this in my on workshop. Good part: barrina honors their warranty. However, even the replacements are failing me. I just bought my new lights (different brand, won't crash Travis' video though). Hope they last better.
So do I... my wife is a huge fan of 2700K, and I’m OK with up to 4000K, but the 5000K non-dimmable makes them a tough choice for me... Can’t argue w/the price, though!!
I bought the 8’ versions of these lights and plugged two together using the little hard connector that comes with them for 16’ span down the length of my garage. I have five of these strips in the two car portion of my garage and bump out area. The color temp of these lights are great at 6000k, which is daylight, but the are so bright, it’s difficult to look at them. I decided to cover each bulb with white, semitransparent shelf paper that you can get at HD. Shelf paper has a light adhesive and works great for this because it’s slightly stretchy, so you can lay it over the curved bulbs easily. Now I can have all the light I wanted, and keep from damaging my vision. I’m only partially kidding about that, these bulbs are BRIGHT! One issue I ran into and still haven’t resolved is that the bulbs pull apart from each other every so often. I’m guessing the ceiling moves with temperature changes and causes the separation. It’s annoying, but easy to push them back into the connector.
These are great until they’re not…had two pop and die so far. By pop, I mean there was a bright flash with popping sound and some black residue on the inside of the light. This happened within the first three months of owning them and they were just plugged into a ceiling outlet.
I have had these in my garage shop and basement for a few years now. I love them. I switched to the 8 ft version for the garage. I have had a few lights go bad over time however Barrina customer service stands behind the warranty and sent me out new ones promptly. One tip for going into drywall - the supplied mounting brackets are okay. What I found works well is using a inch and a half conduit strap. These make it easier to mount the lights without worry of the clips not lining up exactly. like this one: www.amazon.com/Gardner-Bender-GCC-510-Conduit-Plastic/dp/B000VL83MA/ref=sr_1_12?dchild=1&keywords=conduit+strap+plastic&qid=1616001844&sr=8-12
