I just received some tambour hooks and had previously seen some videos about how to do this technique. I thought, how hard can it be? Turns out it's not easy or intuitive, even for fairly skilled sewists and embroiders! But thanks to your video I realized I was wrapping the thread around in a full circle instead of 1.5 circles. I think that will make a big difference in how it goes next time I try it. Thank you.

I do realistic animal embroidery. Is there a chance to do long and short sticht instead of the chain stitch ?
you can do a varied length stitches with the hook yes
