Hi sue Steve from England Just viewed your video. Lovely church inside and out, great sculptures. The church looks like it was built in sandstone. Tombstones as well not granite. Beautiful lead stain glass windows. I do love church music and choir sounding songs. Fantastic sue.
So, so many table top tombs Sue. Just amazing! But the inside of the church was just gorgeous. A real piece of history from its beginnings through the 1900's. That organ was grand for its day. It must have cost a fortune. Thank you for showing and reading what you could. This place is worth a visit. Many thanks for a great video Sue. ♥️🙏☘️☘️☘️
Thank you for bringing us with you into this beautiful church and viewing the unique gravestones. I will probably not ever be able to see this in person, so thank you for reading and showing us everything. It's everything I would want to view closely. ❤🌹
Time and Weather are not kind to any of us! I thought of a bed, as well. Final resting place? But with the coffin shape, a bit odd. Love the faces and arches in the Church. What carving on that monument! 😮 Awesome, Sue. 💖🌷💖
The faces staring down were called “Eaves Droppers” as they were often found up in the eaves of churches and cathedrals. The idea was that we were always watched by those who went before us. This is where the term eavesdropping came from - listening in on conversations without being seen.
What an incredibly beautiful church, peaceful, well kept graveyard, and all set in such a lovely setting. I wondered if all those houses surrounding the church were actually all lived in. I'd love to live there .. but then, I've always wanted to live right next to a graveyard. People think I'm weird, but I reckon I'd have the best neighbours you could possibly have! Thank you so much Sue for taking us on this wonderful journey with you. I loved it from start to finish. God Bless, and .... keep your light shining bright. ~ Cobs (UK)💖
Truly beautiful to see such a well kept historic church and grave yard. Yes I love the lead light too, and all those magnificent carved stone arches and monuments. Just beautiful. Thank you so much Sue. God bless xx Teresa 🇦🇺♥
So far this video is my favorite and will be watched a few times, so much going on and so much to look at.. the grave shaped grave is just amazing.. absolutely a beautiful and peaceful video. Excellent thanks
An outstanding video 👍🏻👍🏻. The artwork is amazing. The labor put into the church and the tombstones is unremarkable. Ages are so young. Sue has there been any graves you have come across where the person is over 100 years old? Your videos are educational to me.
What a beautiful church and graveyard. The stone used is sandstone and does feel powdery, like you said. I love the monument to Sir Gilbert Prine & his family. I've never heard of those carrying a skull had passed in infancy, never mind seeing it. This is a first for me & is just beautiful. How sad for Sir Gilbert & his wife to lose 5 of their 7 children. I agree with one of your other commenters that it's a pity the pews were replaced by chairs. You dont get the same feel for it. Thank you, Sue, for sharing this with us. You're doing something I've always wanted to do over here in Northern Ireland, but my daughter thinks im mad, lol. Peace to you and yours ❤
Stunning designs on those old tombstones. Beautiful church, absolutely amazing. You have outdone yourself again, as usual Sue. Makes me yearn for my old country even more. Have not been back since 1980. Will have to get back there one day.
Sandstone maybe? Wish we had these types of beautiful and respectful places here. But then again, America is quite young. Hopefully someday we can learn to be the same. It’s nice to take a break from the madness here in the States. With that, I am so grateful for you guys. ♥️ This one is astonishing! ✨

Hello Sue…this church is stunning, like you, I love the colour of the bricks too!!! It looks like a castle in one part of it…really beautiful…the gravestones are so weathered that all the writing has worn off, but we can still see their beauty back in the day they were made for the people who are buried there!!! I love these places…as I’ll probably never get to see them myself, so you bringing them to me+others is really nice!!! May all who are buried there Rest In Peace…!!! Keep well+looking forward to your next adventure!!! The inside. Of the church is equally as stunning as the outside!!! So sad about the 5 little girls who died, but their memorial with their parents is very beautiful!!! The stained glass windows are just amazing…!!! Thank you for sharing!!! X🙃❤️
G’day Sue from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 Once again thank you very much Great video on the church and sculptures Also the architecture of the buildings and stone structures Brendan 👍
I would think the parish records would have records of those graves. I am a genealogist, and that is my thinking. I truly enjoy your videos! I have surveyed all the church and public cemeteries in my county in SC. and the imnscriptions were published in 4 volumes by the local genealogical society. Cemeteries are so fascinating. But ours are nowhere as old as yours. We are a young country.
I'm developing more of an interest in genealogy since I relocated to middle Tennessee where my dad's family is from. The cemetery where I have people, has a large number of tent-style graves unique to this area. The stone in the region was easy enough to work with but those rock formations aren't throughout the state. I guess it was a fad from the mid-1810's through 1870's. Not sure there's a definitive reason for their popularity at the time. Could've been protection from the wild or grazing cattle. It's a beautiful small cemetery and I'm proud to say an ancestor, John Wesley Knowles, a veteran of the American Revolutionary War, donated the land from his adjacent farm when one of his son-in-law's passed away. They're buried under huge old cedar trees. A tent grave nearby has the inscription that the person 'went to Harvard University with Edward Everett', a prominent US Statesman who spoke before Lincoln at Gettysburg.
Hey Sue, that is a beautiful church and cemetery. It is unique that the old & Ancient is blended in with the new. For instance the Crypt wall with engraving inside the church door and a post it board to the left, everything is blended in beautifully. That is an unusual coffin Vault grave @ 11:22. I never seen Anything like that in my life or any other cemetery videos. Have a Blessed Day & God Bless You!!!
Just stunning and mind blowing this church goes back so far and is still active and I see the town or row of houses is across of the church/cemetery and winds up the road.

I love stained glass, and I love the sound of music and church bells as well. It is a beautiful church and grounds. The monument that looks like a bed I always think of them as stone beds. Very fascinating because I've never seen anything like them here in the USA. The only time I've seen them have been in churchyards in England, though nothing like the size of this one. Thank you, Sue, for letting us see this lovely church.
Beautiful church, and that memorial is gorgeous. It must have been devastating for them to lose five infants, no words could express the sorrow I imagine they had. I wish the walls could talk, all those graves from the 1600s.

Hi sue that brings back memories I got married there and only walked through there few days back and I couldn't believe how old some off the graves are keep up the work this is brilliant
All the tombs are so elegant and sad for the babies and young ones who died😢. The church is gorgeous and I love the windows. I just love each and every video. You and GV are the best! You mentioned Edinburgh, are you talking about Scotland? ❤😂❤😂
May I make a suggestion, maybe if you used a flashlight with a thin colored cloth over the lens, you may be able to read the weathered stones better. It may read easier from the camera. Just a thought.
Beautiful church, inside and outside. It seems the memorials inside the church are more legible than the monuments in the graveyard. The graveyard is very interesting, unfortunate that not many monuments are legible anymore. You mentioned that sandstone does not hold up well as a headstone after a period of time. I have heard the same about granite. In your experience, is there a type of stone that will hold up fairly well after a couple of centuries? Awesome video, thank you very much Sue. Have a great day. 😊
@SerenitySueGraveyards Very interesting. So overgrowth is useful sometimes. I will try to remember that about slate. Thank you very much for the information Sue, and for getting back to me. Take care.

Those faces at the door were unnerving - the one that was intact was very realistic looking, made me think they must have been made to look like actual people that existed at the time. Loved this explore, thanks Sue.
I find it sad that the tombstones and markers have been allowed to deteriorate. More efforts should have been made to protect them. Such works of art and snippets of history barely readable. Ofcourse this is from a U.S. standpoint, a much younger country than the U.K. But the only cemeteries you see here in deteriorated shape are those which were abandoned decades ago. All this just makes me want to clean and polish my relatives bronze plaque headstones, once I am ambulatory again. Such wonderful churches maintained and restored. One of my favorites in California is the Carmel Mission. It was restored from ruins not that many decades ago. Missionary Father Junipero Serra is interred below the altar. He was instrumental in establishing the California Mission System when California was still owned by Spain. The circuit of missions is on what is known as the "El Camino Real" now. Thank you for another great video.
It looks like the church is built with Sandstone ,it’s got a creamy yellow hue.,also a lot of the chest tombs look the same stone .The problem is it does not weather very well at all and the fumes of the cars ,industry etc produce a type of acid that eats the stone away.I have never seen so many chest tombs.I have seen Bed tombs before but only a few.The bosses(heads) are meant to look down at the worshipers in the church..Symbolic of angels watching down on you I believe .its beautiful inside the Church and gorgeous leaded windows too.The wood ceiling looks like a newer addition but it’s rich and suits the place. Its also well maintained inside and not modernised with horrid blue or red chairs. Thanks for taking us along ..Love n Light to you both🥰
Serenity Sue at church you're right it was absolutely stunning but it was so gorgeous and that pipe organ it would be something to hear those stained Windows was absolutely gorgeous

Thanks for taking us along ..Love n Light to you both🥰
Thanks so much Christine ❤️
Beautiful trees x I bet they could tell a tale or two x
Loved the trees
I am watching your video just now in the church
Thanks
Looks like limestone eaten away by pollution acids and rain. Frost does not help with spawing eather.
Definitely hasn't held up too well
Hello from Ohio, USA. Very beautiful church, many 1600's stones.
Thanks David ❤️
Serenity Sue at church you're right it was absolutely stunning but it was so gorgeous and that pipe organ it would be something to hear those stained Windows was absolutely gorgeous
It is a beautiful church, so much history
I wonder if acid rain could explain why some places hold up better than others.
Yes, definitely
