I medically retired from the army 8 years ago and have TBI from bomb blasts. As part my niece's 16th birthday date, she chose this film. I had not heard of it and was caught completely unprepared for it's moments of realism. The struggle to stay in the army and failing, the fight to get back to physical health, even some of the defiant dialogue felt straight out of my own experience. Very nearly threw up during the first scene of the film because that is how I still occasionally wake up. Unsure if the writers or actors conducted research into TBI and veterans who have it, but the end product hit very close to home. I have an 85lb rescue Doberman that was unbelievably difficult to live with in the beginning. Now we have been together 6 years and he has literally saved my life twice. Wonderful film, thank you to everyone involved in making it.
Thank you for sharing your story. I am aware of the PTSD a soldier experience after coming back from a mission. But don’t know much of the details. Happy birthday to your niece 😊
Great post man.
Thank YOU, brother. Nobody fights alone.
Thank you for all you did to keep us safe. 🌹
Thank you for your service, Mr. Ward. My husband is retired USMC 100% DV. He had 3 tours in the sandbox. I am an Army Vet and worked as a civilian in a Naval Hospital for 20 years. I pray for your continued healing. Too many do not understand how many suffer everyday. If they do not see the disability, they tend to doubt it...including family. I am glad you have your fur-buddy with you when you are in need. Prayers and love...
I am glad all the Malinois owners in the comments have taken it upon themselves to educate. Please don't get a Malinois unless you are ready to be the owner the Mal needs you to be.
Thank you for the support, not for me and others but for all Mals. Very well said, be the owner Mal need you to be 👍
It's a full time job
Guess one more comment wouldn't hurt, huh?
I will never be without a mal in the house. I will say this, put in the time (training). Stay three steps ahead of them.
The only time I have ever met one was the K-9 unit on base and my dog trainers dog. That is who should own one. Basically someone who uses them for their intended purpose every day or who trains dogs and makes them work all day.
I feel like Channing Tatum is a lot smarter and deeper than people give him credit for and this movie is a testament to that. He co-directed this movie as well as playing the lead and I’m glad that he got this chance to show everyone that he’s more than just a heartthrob.
Yep. Much deeper person that all that "American Pie" thing. Thank U 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I agree completely!
My husband in the photo here with me is my belated husband he served in the army and the first time i saw this trailer on tv i fell in love i not been to a movie in 3 years but my heart wants me to see this one thank you i watch this again and cried
I’m a dog walker and I worked with this Malinois and it took me a MONTH just to gain his trust to be next to him. He’s such a good boy. Before his owners got him he was abused in his previous home. He gets scared of people coming behind him and men too. But takes lots of work to go into training with them. I absolutely love Atticus. I’m seeing this movie already have tickets for next Thursday.
Just want to say it's a great movie with a great story, I've seen it today with my daughter......You'll love it.
My neighbour has rottweilers. 4 in fact. Dog mother and her 3 kids. Sufficed to say the dog famliy take their human family's protection seriously. You are welcome to enter their home and sit on the couch, after proper introduction to be honest. But be prepared for four rotties to stare at you with murderous intent for the enitire time you are there.
I’m definitely gonna cry in this on the one, my dog was the same way and all he needed was patience, dedication and love and now he’s the happiness obedient dog to me.
Stangchucc >> My wife was the same way, now she is the nicest obedient wife there is.

It’s good to see Channing Tatum in a film again, look forward to this.

great on both counts
Please do NOT get a Malinois unless you have experience working with them. These are working dogs, not labradoodles.
I have a Malinois and you don’t need experience working with them unless you haven’t raised them since birth
@@annaestiedwards57 you don’t need experience but you need to do alot of research and be willing to be active majority of the day with your dog and constantly stimulate it
Haha…laughed at the labradoodles comparison!
You don’t need experience working with them . If you do your research and put in the work you are good .
I've been around dogs, owned dogs and trained dogs for over 30 yrs and I still don't think I'd be ready for a Belgian shepherd, especially a Mali. They are a breed that needs a purpose, a very skilled trainer and a very active home. If you have no experience as a dog owner or trainer you're also more likely to fall for the pithole of inaccurate information. You can do all the reading in the world but with nothing to compare the information with, mistakes can and probably will be made. This is why anyone that doesn't have long experience with HC working dogs and wants a dog like a Mali should take up a professional trainer to help with the journey, and make sure that trainer uses positive reinforcement.
This was so much better than I expected! Possibly Channing Tatum’s best performance yet. There was enough mixture of emotion, comedy, action, and break throughs. Loved it! ❤️

they should provide this statement in the very beginning of this movie
Same goes for the German shepherd, I can see alot people mixing them up who dont have experience with dogs. Please do your research people before getting a German shepherd or Belgian Malinois, they need alot of work and patience. These are the best dogs in the world, theres a reason why cops and the army use them. It kills me when I see these in my local area for sale at the age of 1 -3 years old or up for adoption.
I feel you. They are adorable as puppies but people fail to grasp how big and strong they get along with how high maintenance they are.
Edit: this is coming from someone who has two German Shepherds and has to spend hours a day playing with them so don't go stir crazy.
Wish people would stop and think period about getting any breed of dog they deserve the same time and love as a child
@@joytaylor7806 I was the proud owner of a German Shepard/Husky. The Vet told me when ppl begin mixing breeds it creates susceptibility to health issues. My guy was my best friend, so intelligent, intuitive, and protective. He developed an autoimmune system breakdown that refused to be controlled. I'm still suffering 2 yrs after losing him. My grief is far greater than losing a spouse and cried more than losing my father. I still avert my eyes when I see a similar dog. The vet told me at 8 with his condition he near his life expectancy, but my Drago can never be replaced. We both saw him as my significant other. Ppl would say, "that dog loves you" & I'd answer, "he only looks like a dog!" If I woke in the night his eyes opened at the same time. Some thugs were working on stealing my truck, he woke me & growled then took me to the door barking! I saw them run out of the yard leaving their told behind. I passed out from exhaustion at a truck stop & he would not leave my side while the EMT'S were with me. He was more loyal than my husband! I was lucky to be his owner & my heart will always miss him at my side💔 It's been 2 yrs, I still wake in the night expecting him to be meeting my gaze. He was worth every dollar spent trying to beat his ailment...I had to let him go because I loved him that much😪
Its like these others are saying, once they bond with you, its for life so be as loyal to them as well💞 my beautiful Drago...
@@camelotassemble but when they bond with you, you are their 24/7 focus & couldn't be more gentle. He would come up, lowering his head against me asking for hugs. I had to remember to hide it in the refrigerator lol i was lucky enough to have him 5 years...
That goes for any dog
I cried at the end of the movie, it reminded me of my old dog and there was a moment that really hit home for me near the end.
I cried at the beginning of the "seek scene"... it hit me hard

Hello 👋 Christina
How are you doing?
I lost my malinois last month …. After 13 years together and 8 years in service . HE WAS MY HERO . He saves my live two times . :(. I miss him every day
Sooo sry fr ur loss...
RIP
This movie is actually based off elements of his experience with his dying dog.
We had a Belgian
Malinios we adopted from the
pound. He was about 1 1/2 yrs old. All ears and
paws. My husband
took him to a trainer once a week for a few months. He was
the sweetest, most
well-behaved dog
I've ever had. After
my husband passed, then I was
the Alpha dog. It
broke my heart when he died.
(((((You))))) We'll see our pups again, but it's the hardest thing when they leave. 💙🐾🌈💫🙏
I hope they are both resting peacefully, a good man and a good boy 💟 keep your head up
So sorry for your loses.🙏❤️🙏
I bet you that the dog will be a kind of 'Marley', and in some point in the movie we all will cry. Anyways, my tears are ready.

As someone with 2 mals, don't let a movie make you think you just hop into mal ownership with no experience. If you happen to end up with one, don't listen to the shock jockeys and "Cesar milans" who tell you your puppy needs an e collar or prong collar. It's exhausting at first but a well trained mal who's received positive reinforcement will be your best buddy.
Click, treat, repeat- it's that simple.
Preach!
I currently have one Mal (he's my second family member from this amazing breed) I couldn't agree with you more. I remember what happened after the movie "Max" came out years ago. People went rushing out to get one of these amazing canines without realizing the intense work and discipline that goes into training and living with them. The result was Malinois being dumped in shelters and with rescue organizations, through no fault of their own. Do your research and be honest about whether you have the time and resources to dedicate to this animal. If you do, you'll have the best and most loyal friend you ever knew.
i totally disagree for telling u not to listen cesar millan.
i have black labrador and labradors are working dog as well. have no idea about dogs, before adopting a dog. but watching cesar millan helped me out and its working very well.
When our loyal friend died 4 years ago, I wanted a mal in the worst way. A dog that would be my best friend 24/7. Luckily, my wife said no. I’ve learned that I just couldn’t do a mal justice. I respect those of you who are able to give these animals the life they deserve.
@@lovenature8789 labs are a hunting breed not a working dog breed.
Don't go get one of these dogs after a movie without true commitment for long walks, daily exercise, training and a yard. I hate how many of them is sold and let down after a hit movie, not just them, any breed. Remember it's alive with needs and emotions, not a thing.

How many Miles a day is best?
@@paulamorris7466 what, for a walk with them ? It depends, there's no magical number. What's the pace, sometimes we walk a lot,or run,she runs next to bike, you throw a stick or ball in the river a hundred times and the dog does swimming. Do you have a livestock to guard and run around with them,is yard big enough to run, jump, play ball or whatever. You just need to make it sure it's active on some way,to me it's not a problem because i'm like a human malinois 😅 but for less active people with less free time i would suggest other not so highly active dogs, wich also demand activity but not that high.
@@paulamorris7466 For puppies 2-4 months I wouldn't walk them for more than 10-20 minutes a day. 5-9 months you can move up to 30-40 minutes, and as adults, they can usually go for 6-10 miles and still not be tired.

I run a German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois rescue - I've had 2 working Malinois. They are NOT family dogs unless you have immense experience AND a lifestyle that makes the dog the center (not a part) of your world. The number one reason we get Mals in our rescue is that people were unaware what they were getting in to. I now live with 2 Pitbulls and they are a piece of cake in comparison.
Thank you for mentioning that. So many people want what they want, not being realistic how their lifestyle is, the commitment it takes, and realizing what's best for the dog is also, so very important.
This movie looks awesome. The only problem I have with it is. People are going to run out and buy Belgian Shepard and then the shelters are going to be filled with them.
Very true
Yep like blue heelers I’m seeing them more in LA including shelters..
Yup Mals are nuts..I have a German Shepherd Husky and she used to be a psycho and was given up at 4 mos old because she was apparently too hyper. I got her in 2020 and trained her like crazy but occasionally she’s still psycho if she doesn’t get enough exercise. Long sleeves in winter used to get destroyed thanks to her pulling them and shaking (we have fixed that), water bottle crunching drives her crazy but we have also fixed that… I laughed at that scene because that has happened to me.
I have 3 and this is my concern the moment I saw the trailer. These dogs require full time training and must have a place to run and play daily in addition to their training. Great dogs!
Belgian malinois
It really shows how much drive and energy a Belgian Malinois has.
They are amazinggg dogs but on my opinion they aren't for everyone.
They need their physical, mental needs to be met just like every dog.
This movie looks great ❤️❤️❤️
As someone who has experience with GSD & MaliGators, they are extreme high energy and they always need to be with you when you go to the bathroom, garage, shower, or lay on the couch. These are what we call Velcro dogs.
My rottie was the same way. Sure do miss him so much😥
Mine will literally lift my whole arm if I stop giving her belly rubs, for that reason she can't sleep with me, she hogs the bed also. Amazing breed if you're consistent and give them what they need , which is physical and mental excercise, a job, they live to work and thrive at it.
Love the new name! MaliGators .
Why are 80% of the comments from people who tell me not to buy a malinois? I wasn't going to buy one...
Can't we just appreciate the fact that this seems to be a movie with a touching story and no super heroes, feminism, minorities or other mainstream BS ... I wish they'd make more of these.
It’s because a lot of the time with popular dog movies, people will think they want that breed after watching the movie not knowing the reality of owning that breed. I know it’s ridiculous people do that but unfortunately they do.
I’m personally glad people are commenting about it because it happens to often and to many great dogs end up in bad hands and in shelters because of it, and because the owner didn’t properly research the breed and didn’t know what they were getting themselves into. I’m sure the movies gonna be great I’m personally looking forward to watching it, I’m sure most people are. What people aren’t looking forward to is the amount of mals that will end up in shelters cause of it afterwards. That’s all.
Worked with a former K9 handler in the military whose dog was blown up by IED. My friend was so wrecked emotionally he had to change jobs. God bless all our little good boys and girls

Filmin ismi ne nasıl izliye bilirim
My late father & I had a Malinois for almost 10 years. I named him Zeus. He was about 2 years old when we got him from the pound & had been shockingly mistreated! All he wanted was hugs, love & reassurance. Zeus was as intelligent a dog as we’d ever owned. Among those being a German Shepherd & an Australian Border Collie.
Dog's act, exactly the way they are taught. Discipline and consistency is what correlates. Just like every other sentient being.
jeez. take a chill pill.
Not exactly. Otherwise we wouldn't need different working dog breeds..
Genetics, possible trauma, quality and amount of socialisation and yes, also training. That is what determines how a dog acts.
No excuse to not train a dog if you get one, but also you won't train a balanced working dog out of a backyard bred shepherd mutt with nervous temperament and no early training.
He sounds pretty chill, maybe it’s you who needs to relax?
Tabula Rasa is a bunch of horsesh*t. 😂
Ivor, you're exactly correct! My guy would even come to me if the cat was misbehaving looking from the cat to me & back. Talk about discipline. He didn't like my brother, though never agressive. He once climbed up behind me placing his front paws on my shoulders then looked back & forth to each of us. Never growling or whining, just showing jealousy. My Drago was a character😘
Looks like a beautiful film. Channing Tatum and Bill Burr, YES PLEASE!
This story is wonderful. Overall this movie was well worth my time. The actors are awesome. There is a thread running through this story. That thread isn't what breed the dog is but the loyalty dogs overall give their owners as a gift. Once again, two main characters are fabulous actors.
“Oh my god, I can see.” 😂😂😂
Also, the bit where the dog lies down on the pavement and refuses to budge… OMG. Brought back so many memories. My golden was the queen of this. And if you pulled on her harness, she’d put her two front paws through quick as a flash and she’d be free. Except she luckily never took off. I quickly learned to start walking in the opposite direction and she’d scramble to her feet. I’d walk quickly and then make a loop. That technique worked on every big dog I ever worked with except for one mastiff mix. When that 90-lb. boy refused to move, you weren’t going nowhere. 😂
God not god and it’s oh my gosh
So happy to see you used a harness and not something that chokes your dog like some people use.

Love when trailers show the entire movie and the best parts of it. It saves me a ton of money in the long run.
Dude, this isn’t some big mystery or something. Even if it is, someone should use the common sense to try to think about what they’re actually trying to tease. If the story for the trailer was that predictable, then sure, go ahead and judge? This one looks like a pretty familiar premise too, but it’s not like it’s a bad one either. If anything, it looks more like a familiar charming story about man befriending dog, what’s the biggest spoiler? If the biggest reveal is that Channing Tatum takes a bath with the dog, I don’t think you could have ruined too much. This trailer didn’t reveal much at all.
People who want to see this need certainty there are no surprises on the way before they buy a ticket. That applies to movies about dogs and romance during a holiday.

The biggest thing with these dogs is that they are highly social and that they need that social interaction for their intellect.
I have a Malinois, he was a handful as a puppy.
He would run through the house and then lay down in the floor so that I couldn't move him. He'd jump and pull the washing off the clothes line and run around the section with me chasing him. He'd pull the grates of the drains and the fence pales off. He slipped his collar while chained (so I could move cars through the open gate, he's only chained for a few minutes when absolutely needed). He ran out the open gate and down the road, with me running after him. He got distracted at a building site, so I was able to catch him, but with no collar I had to carry him, 40 kg of solid muscle, back up the street. I tried puppy school, but he was kicked out on his first day.
Then I had an idea, I got a foxy puppy.
Suddenly all of the extreme behaviors disappeared. He was still high energy, but now he had a constant friend for the long days when I was at work. Now he was not lonely. He still got kicked out of puppy school 2 more times - but no more clothes being ripped, no more fence pales being pulled off. He had a friend for the long and lonely days. I'd say they are active but more importantly they are very social (more so than my old rottie who seemed fine while I was at work) - the extreme behaviors were due to loneliness during the day - so make sure you have a solution for that.
I have a German shepherd, and even though they arent the same breed, they're both working class. And your comments made me laugh. It's so true the mischief they can get into *mine actually got sprayed by a skunk last week* and it's so true with the companionship. We had a cat when we first got our dog and they are best friends.
That sounds like my first 12 months with bugsy ( mali)
I disagree that they are social. Maybe yours is, but it is pretty well known among malinois owners that these dogs usually bond with one person and do not like strangers or other people in general.
Definitely for fans of either Channing Tatum and/or dogs, this movie was very much an American road trip movie full of humour and adventure.
It had a simple and endearing linear story of basically a damaged and traumatised dog and man who healed together.
With that said the movie explored some deeper and more challenging themes in quite a nuanced way, I have seen many a Channing Tatum movie and here he did a fine job and really stepped up to the plate, I must say he always delivers! I must say that Channing must have spent the two years of lockdown locked in the gym and totally looks the part of an army ranger fresh from fighting the Taliban!
Overall this was a very funny movie that gently established a relationship between man and man's best friend. The music was good, the cinematography great, the script compelling and the ending a joy.
It's on prime video for anyone wanting to watch be aware it made me cry
Omg I can see.😂😂
this film was amazing, saw it on a sneak showing for valentine’s day, it stole our hearts, smile and my girlfriend’s tears
How about the little threesome scene
I'll definitely be checking this film out!
I once trained a basically wild husky. Felt so bad one time I did get bit. Thankfully he still got adopted. Sometimes you just gotta realize dogs are more scared of you then you are of them. They just need someone with love and patience.
Hello 👋 Emily
How are you doing?
The only love story I’ll be watching in February 🙂🤣🙏❤️
I'm crying just watching this trailer... i miss my girl so much !
(i love u V.. always and forever)
Absolutely the best movie I've seen for a long, long time. I laughed, cried and a few other emotions. Tatam was fantastic and the dogs who played Lulu deserve a mention ( ZUZA , BRITTA and LANA 5.
A great big THANK YOU to all the dogs and soldiers who put their lives on the line for wars that should never be. Come home safe. 🤗👍
This was such a heartwarming movie. I had no idea! Go see it in the theater if you haven’t already 🍿
This is going to be BEAUTIFUL !!!!!
As an owner of a dutch shepherd/Belgian malinois....RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH! This breed is not for the faint if heart. Sweetest babies ever but they are working dogs.
‘Dog’ is a road trip (not exactly a ‘comedy road trip’) with a canine twist. Great acting, as always, from Channing Tatum and what a movie star Lulu is. This excellent movie is sensitive, thoughtful and inspiring. Thank you.
Hello Marian, how are you doing?
Really good road-mouvie with big adventure and emotion between two good actors, a human and an animal!!❤😉
I’ve had GSD’s my whole life, recently just rescued a GSD and have worked with Mali’s in the military. I’m really happy to see people In The comments advising people not to get one if your not prepared to put in the work. They are super high drive and energy. Given the right training and commitment you’ll have an amazing dog one of the best but if you don’t you will end up with a nightmare of a dog one of the worst. I’m worried so many people will see this movie and go and get a Mali without knowing truly what they’re taking on. I foresee a lot of mali’s being unnecessarily being put in dog shelters or euthanised as a result of this movie 😞😞. If you don’t have the to time to train them as in proper obdience training you’ll be better off with a Lab or golden retriever, beautiful dogs and far more laid back.
That being said I’ll be going to watch this movie opening weekend ☺️
🤣🤣🤣 "oh my god i can see" what a miracle 🤣
Loved this movie.
Channing was as always amazing but Lulu stole my heart ❤️
Just watch this earlier and all I wanna do after the movie is go home and hug my puppers. This is a must watch movie
Tohle je velmi vtipný film. Rozhodně stojí za to věnovat svůj čas sledováním tohoto filmu. Dlouho jsem se smál
Directed by Reid Carolin and Channing Tatum, both on their directorial debuts. Nice work!
It's like a dodo story only filmed cinematically I'm gonna love it 😍
I have a Belgian Malinois, and she's the best thing that has ever happened to me. She's my protector, best friend, and my emotional support animal.
I know a lot of people may be interested in getting a Malinois after this movie, but please please please do your research on the breed. Malinois are working dogs and need extensive physical and mental stimulation, along with tasks and jobs. They are the "Corvette" of dogs.
I will be more than happy to talk to or answer any questions anyone may have about this breed.
"Malinois are working dogs etc...."
IE They are highly intelligent.
@@Wildvideonyc Yeah, they are insanely intelligent. My baby keeps me on my toes. 🙃
God bless. Thanks to you she's a lucky dog. I hope she lives the longest life possible.
@@Wildvideonyc ❤️
Why is she an "emotional support animal " what does that mean?
As the mother of a Son (Vet.) of the armed forces,,and also a dog with these same issues (not a service dog) i have hope for both of them,,,but i also cryed my eyes out because this movie hits too close to home,,💖
I loved this film! Cried so much at the ending!
I have a Malinois and love her, but I completely understand the scene where Channing Tatum calls the dog a demon. Most people should NOT own a Malinois.
Official tailer. Aww... See, just happy happy happy cute cute and more cute...
Actual movie. Now give me your soul and cry your eyeballs out
Watched this with my girlfriend tonight it was a lot deeper than I expected and overall a great story. I recommend it
Netflix and chill?
@@selevabeats lol
Imagine loving something so much that it upsets you this much to say goodbye .
The best dog breed is a rescue breed . Get one and be blessed with love and companionship for life . Seriously if you commit to a dog ( any dog ) it will commit to you with everything it had .
You're entirely uninformed. A guality purebred dog is consistent and predictable in both physical and personal characteristics. Figure out what you want, you will get it in a quality purebred dog. Your mushy thinking is in error.
