- Hello TH-camrs! In the second episode of the Inverness head regatta weekend we race 2 different boat classes. We race in the quad, with the same people that were in the four, then I race by myself in the single. Two very different boat classes that take some adjustment. Really enjoyed the racing this weekend and enjoyed making the videos! Thanks to Inverness Rowing Club for organising!

How do you feel switching from a wider boat to a skinnier one like the quad to single, in terms of foot stretcher width? I found that foot stretchers being wider in the bigger boats is much better because it allows me to have better power application (like on an erg). I actually had to get my own single's footplate machined with wider holes to allow me to make the feet wider, but I imagine that would be hard with your foot size?
Apart from the actual boat feeling like there is so much room for activities going to the wider boat that's about it. I know what you mean about the feet width and would like to try a wider width in the single just to see what it's like but for whatever reason I don't feel like it's that much different going between the two even though there is a difference!
I'm curious how the stroke rate compared between the four, the quad, and the single.
Pretty similar! Maybe slighlty higher in bigger boats
My body thinks I'm coxing. Winning races is great motivation for winning more. Gives you confidence.

Don’t you just love the mayhem waiting at the start of a head (and that’s on a canal without any strong stream. 4x looks brilliant (can only aspire to our quad being a fraction on that pace and run🙄) plus wining in the 1x again - never in doubt despite you questioning your sculling skills 😎

I guess the oars in a 4 sweep are bigger than the oars in 4 scull? Do both reach the same speeds? Also, unrelated - do you think all those various rowing experiences are valuable as contrast/insight sources for your single practice? I can see it where you would go "oh, that didn't work in that quad, but yeah, have to do it in a single", and it would reinforce/help with learning the single?
Yes, the sweep pars are bigger than sculling oars. Usually the quad is faster. I don't think it is super valuable for the single experience, but definitely valuable the other way around.
I know someone who once did 7 2k races in one day, because of bad weather the previous day

A hat trick 🎩🪄 💪💪💪👍. Been said already above..your in race footage with the noises and talking totally puts us watching in the boat. Would be great as a sideline to view entire races start to end, with no editing at some point as they are the perfect backtrack for faster erg sessions.
I have the footage so maybe could just publish the whole race! Maybe add to tge "workout" playlist or similar for people to row along to
@@CameronBuchan that would be ace, with a row along race time in the heading, viewers punch that race time into the erg, crank up the sounds...get set...buckets at the ready..👌

What split did you row in the single?
Was the race 6 kilometers?
Just shy of 5k. Not really sure on the split to be honest! The results are online somehwere though!
